Today, also if I’m not happy, Windows is trying to upgrade to the new version 24H2. I’m not happy for the Windows recall function… anyway the operative system, as the antivirus, should be always updated. I will try to defend from Windows Recall also if I see it hard.
What I can see is that Windows seems to be unable to upgrade: windows update still be blocked and maybe the PC restarted as well.
I discovered also was not possible unistall Comodo 2025.
The fact Comodo can lock Windows to work correctly is not new on my experience.
I was hoping the 2025 version avoid this but seems is not.
Maybe the issue is present when user change the default Comodo settings enabling the HIPS protection.
I will now try to upgrade Windows without HIPS then maybe without Comodo and if the issue is Comodo as I think, I should find an alternative program to protect my Windows as this means the antivirus is forbidding Windows to work correctly and this should not happen.
I can confirm Windows was unable to upgrade to 24H" due to Comodo Internet Security.
Also before unistalling it (unistall is the only way to see Windows upgraded) I saw that cavwp.exe was causing many Windows error. I was monitoring from the Windows task where I found the cavwp.exe process generate a lot of errors.
Maybe is time to stop to use Comodo for me.
Sad, this is an old issue: Comodo forbid Windows to upgrade.
Maybe small updates has no issues but major Windows updates are blocked by Comodo.
I tried also to unistall Comodo, and install the latest version with default settings but also this was not working maybe. Unistalled and now Windows is upgrading.
I dont think at the moment I will install CIS again after this issues discovered.
I was hoping the 2025 was a better version that never forbid Windows from upgrading and never generate many errors as I discovered monitoring the cavwp.exe process.
I can again confirm I was able to upgrade Windows by uninstalling Comodo Internet Security 2025.
Having CIS installed generated blue screen when Windows try to upgrade to 24H2 or just the update fail other times.
Now you should agree and know with me that maintain software updated is important also for security.
The fact CIS forbid Windows to do the upgrade is a very sad things.
Unfortunately searching on the Internet there is no a good Firewall alternative.
I use CIS since long time and in many years I can say CIS continue to lock Windows on important upgrades. I was really hoping that in this new 2025 version the issue was resolved but was not.
Is Comodo that block Windows, maybe the firewall as well.
I’m back using Comodo CIS now that Windows as been upgraded but how you can say use only the Firewall will not lock Windows from upgrading? Maybe is the Firewall to lock Windows files.
I hope the Comodo team can take care of this, in different years I never seen this issue resolved and it’s sad.
I have also to say that the stable version of CIS get the unistaller corrupted so was not possible Unistall CIS. For be able to do I must download the new CIS annunced here so once was re-installed I was able to unistall CIS.
I’ve never had issues installing Windows updates with Comodo running, but I know it’s recommended to remove it if you’re going to do an operating system upgrade. It’s conceivable that some major updates could conflict with the program and the 24H2 update is known to have a lot of issues all by itself. I’d personally hold off on installing any major updates for a least a few months and just take the security updates. I use InControl to prevent major updates before I want them. It seems a little silly to me to stop using the program just because your once in 6 month update might require you to temporarily remove the program. So up to twice a year you’ll have to remove then reinstall CIS…the horror.
I understand your point of you, however i dont agree with you about ignoring a program that cause Windows errors.
Comodo generate blu screen let me loosing my work because was blocking Windows from the automatic upgrade. An antivirus who block operative system file looks not compatible and with errors for me. Errors can create issue also broken the operative system and generate errors.
2.Unistaller of comodo was broken in all PC so I need do a long process of reinstall and unistall with some PC restart before be able to upgrade Windows
You now knw from me the cause was Comodo but this was not easy to understand and… as the upgrade is a long process I loose a lot of time before be able to fix the issue caused by Comodo.
A process of Comodo as seems not fully compatible with Windows because block Windows files corrupting the system (system file blocked so the operative system experiment errors and issue as for the upgrade) I found a process cavwp.exe fll of errors showed by Windows task. I looked at Internet what it was and discovered is a Comodo process. This is not good so
Im just reporting all this issues.
Without a report an improvemtn cannot be possibile.
It’s been pretty standard advice going back years that you shouldn’t be running a bunch of applications while Windows is updating. You’re just asking for trouble.
It’s clear, as i said before, that you are happy with Comodo and with the issue reported in this topic that for you are not issued caused by Comodo and for you it’s all normal need to unistall software on the operative system for have it upgraded.
I see other PC with antivirus that never cause this issue
When the Comodo 2025 has been released I understood that a function to avoid the upgrading issue I’m reporting was introduced. Maybe I can be wrong but this is what I can remember. If this is correct then I’m reporting that is not working.
Again it’s clear to me you are happy and for you no issue exist and all issues reported in this topic is caused by me.
You’re just asking for trouble.
Once again I don’t agree with you and this topic is for report an issue to the Comodo team, not for made a long discussion with you
Also some users can don’t understand why Windows is not upgrading and it’s not so easy understand that the cause is Comodo when should not be and also this has been discovered after a blue screen, various try to see the updated installed by Windows Update, etc.
This is just a post but the issue caused by the CIS who blocked Windows and generated errors was something that take a lot of time, made loose data with the blue screen and also if the CIS has many conflict and errors with Windows this is better can be improved to have a operative system with less errors.
You’re free to disagree that running your production applications during a Windows update is not recommended, but it doesn’t change the fact that it is, in fact, not recommended. Do what you want, though, I’m sure the fundamentals will change because you prefer it that way.
In Comodo CIS’s Virtual Desktop, if you’ve enabled other input languages in Windows, the taskbar pictogram for the second Windows language comes to rest right in front of the two icons for exiting the Virtual Desktop and prevents you from clicking on them.
We can’t take screenshots in the Virtual Desktop, sorry.
Yes, especially since because of this quarantine without notice (underwater), it took me two hours to understand why DaemonTools was no longer working!
I’m sorry reading about your issue.
If you have not solved yet you could try to re-install Comodo Internet Security (latest version) then unistall using the normal Comodo Unistaller and not the advanced one you are using.
Doing that if all will be find, once Comodo is unistalled you should not face anymore issues.
