Why I stopped using Comodo version 6 [merged topic]

The associative connection is:
“Looking up everything to find maybe something.”
And calling “a name” for the other choice.

Btw,
thought about productive work which creates “unknown” files? I think, the consent should be informed.

Basically i install a firewall to have control about sending.
If the same firewall is sending the files itself, well, it feels wrong to me. So i naturally change this setting.

Really? :o 88)

I have a lot of systems running it in our test lab and NONE of them send data outside out network. We’re testing it on how well it can stop stuff, not how well it can send it.

We’re testing to see how well it can work as an isolation tool within a network. In that context, sending data to the community would totally defeat the purpose of our testing.

Whether it is the right or wrong thing to do depends totally on the context of the environment and the intended purpose.

Not everyone uses PCs the way you do, nor do they necessarily regard the community involvement as highly as you do.

Please consider that others may have entirely different needs, environments, views and opinions to yourself.

That doesn’t mean you’re wrong. Similarly, it doesn’t mean they are either.

Cheers,
Ewen

P.S. [at] dch48, clockwork and myself - gentle reminder - please do not post in this topic if you are not posting your reasons why you stopped using CIS6.

This topic is designed to let Comodo know the specific reasons why people have stopped using the product, and the off-topic posts and chatter/responses simply cloud or obscure the legitimate responses. By all means, continue your thread in a more appropriate topic - just not this one please.

Let Comodo have as clear a view as possible at the reasons people stop using CIS6.

Well off with my head and on with a pumpkin!!

Apologies to dch48 and clockwork. I mistook this topic for the other “Why did you uninstall CIS?” topic.

Mea culpla, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa.

Ok it may be just 9Dragons for some odd reason. v6 no matter what i ahve tried to do, after I manage to get 9D to work, If I close the game and reboot my PC, whn I start 9D again - its quarantined. I try using “Restore” to take it our of quarantine, but that wont work, game still doesnt work. I either have to reinstall the game or uninstall v6. If 9D updates I catch more hell then I’d like to, v6 starts to block the updates and delete the files! Its a nightmare.

Whn b4 with v5 - all I had to do was either disable the AV part of v5 or just Look that the UI and click blocked intrusions and I am back to gaming.

So not sure - what the deal is but its just no worth it to me atm to switch back to v6. I look the protection and everything. Cant beat it for anything, but with this being my main game atm, rather not deal with installing it everyday just to play it.

So v5 is whr I am till the UI is a lil more friendly!

All setting is default as well (Proactive Protection) is what I am setup to run.

I was wondering about that and why the restriction on the other thread had suddenly been extended to this one. I was willing to go along with it though.

I understand completely. If I couldn’t play World of Warcraft with CIS6 installed it would have to go no matter how good the protection was. Just a heads up though, Proactive is not the default configuration, Internet Security is.

Only if the AV component is installed. If not, the default is Firewall Security.

Point taken but the user with the gaming problem had the full package installed.

So tru - I have reinstalled v6 for now and praying later tonight whn the game updates - all hell dont break loose. I just re-installed to day and this is my 1st time logging out of game. Normally I dont log off but every 24-36 hours to reboot and go pvp a lil but.

So after maintenance, I will hopefully have no issues. I would only change to Proactive vs Firewall Security after reading that Proactive is a better to use. Everything else was default. I really appreciate all the replies concerning this lil issue. And if it wasnt for the $ I have spent playing this online game over the last 6 yrs, I would just give it up and move on.

If I have any more issues, i will post and ask for advice some more TY All!

That didnt take long - same issue as b4 - Just opened game - and v6 wont let me play!

I installed rebooted like I should, loaded game - NP playing for hours and staying logged in.

I closed game to do a few things and now that i want to go back in game - it just quarantined my launcher.exe file and I now have to reinistall the game!

■■■■■ it this is annoying as hell!

Have you tried turning off auto-quarantine in the Settings? If you have then you should be alerted and be able to chose what happens and then it’s just choose to ignore or trust (whichever term they use for AV alerts)

In my opinion what has no pleased in the CIS6 is the new main interface, which has become very simple with little information and almost no possible to change the settings so easy and quick. Now we have to go to Task tab, click Settings to terms then in another window, access to settings and information, and even then they are disperssas in small menus, and with a background color that does not help. Particuarlamente I like to keep the desktop clean, so do not use widget, and just keep a shortcut the of trash. The CIS5 served me perfectly, a single user interface, where I have access to main information and settings.

Who knows the placement of themes, by default two: The current turned to touch. And a second, with background white to text or light-colored, and a main interface rich in information and settings, turned to Desktop.

Something that should also exist in Win8, the possibility that, during installation, choose a Desktop version. This orrivel that Win8 interface for those using Desktop.

ive tried everything! Every time I reboot game is ■■■■■■■! So Ill stay with v5. Ty all for trying to help. But the aggravation using this new UI is not worth it for me!

hai
i don not think i will be able to use cis because the way data base file is increasing that is too much problematic for me and for the other slow net connection users. it is almost impossible to download data base manually during the first time and automatic update, for slow net connection is not possible. i made many complains but comodo doesn’t bother that. Because first i need to download the setup of cis 6 which is 124 mb then i need to download 124 mb data base which is too much long for slow net connection speed. the data base file size is increasing day by day and one day in future it will be minimum 200 mb i think. so this is the most important reason that i need stop using cis antivirus part only and need to look for other antivirus. i can understand that daily update is necessary but that should be in limit but comodo every day increasing data base file size. (124 mb right now).

CIS always installs 6.0.264710.2708 version that I don’t want !!! In Advanced Settings - General Settings - Updates I set: " don’t automatically download updates but noti fy me about them " , but it silently install the last version. Grrrr. I don’t want the last version, because it worsens the issue that I describe here: https://forums.comodo.com/format-verified-issue-reports-cis/changes-to-d-and-firewall-rules-intermittently-forgotten-m222-v6-t90580.0.html

my only problem with v6 is the applications rules, although i chose custom policy a different rule is created automatically after i allow a certain application, for example svchost.exe wants to connect to my dns ip, i allow it and then when i check applications rules i find that a rule is created where svchost is allowed to connect to any ip and any mac address although i only wanted it to connect to my dns unlike comodo v5, when i choose custom policy i have full control, no rules are created automatically and nothing connects without notifying me, if this problem is fixed i’ll surely use v6

If you want the rules to be more specific, you’ll need to increase the Alert frequency, in addition to selecting Custom Ruleset.

I haven’t quit using CIS quite yet, but I’m running into multiple issues. In order of annoyance:

  1. The windows freeze when even the simplest command is given. This can actually prevent me from updating my rule set as it will hang so long that I have to end task and restart -.-
  2. Alerts hang
  3. Resource usage is very high
  4. Is simply unacceptably obtrusive for online gamers

I’ve used Comodo since it first came out and was looking to become a paid user, but now I’m at my wit’s end and considering alternatives. The stability with this release is extremely low. I may go back to versions 5. :X

My mother uses the CIS 6 with advanced settings and so far at least, she did not complain or caught my attention because of popup alerts comodo internet security. :-TU

Maybe its my imagination, this being the complaint department there should be a requirement for the complainies before lodging their complaints. Draw up a list starting with the OS your running and follow through with a complete list of all of your extensions, antivirus, antimalware, and etc. applications, that way the people that are trying to help would be better prepared to answer your, what’s the word??

Thanks…
