Yes, and choosing to trust a file from the AV alert will add it to the trusted files. The same is true for the Behavior Blocker when you choose the option at the bottom right of the popup to not restrict the file again. I guess the makers of 9 Dragons is not a Trusted Vendor.
I find the default configuration of v6 to be the most gamer friendly iteration of CIS that I have seen, with the change mentioned to turn off auto quarantine really the only thing needed.
There is not “one” kind of gamers out there.
Surprised when i say, V3 was the most gamer friendly?
Because with a default deny you can basically switch off the antivirus without an impact on security? Use the antivirus for scanning things before you allow them (trusted sources).
And use the free resources for gaming…
Is it gamer friendly that you can build an own computer? Having to make choices, putting things together…
Yes, it is.
While you would say, its more user friendly to get a ready to plug in computer for gaming.
i also go back to v5.x
the firewall design in 6.x is ugly and confusing, the old design was better to understand, i was able to drag and drop rules in v6 i must use these ugly buttons
the main window did freeeze more then one time, defense / sandbox alerts did hang, the pc got slow from startup to shutdown, v6 is just nonsense
fix that soon and let us see v7 with the good old design and functionality… and add a block list import/export function
Only some users who most likely are in the minority and certainly will be when more people who would have never used the previous versions try the new one.
I have never had any issue with any program I tried to learn and use until now with v6. I had many friends and family members change thr AV/FW over to Comodo and now I spend more time on Skype trying to help them figure out v6 vs v5. Most have uninstalled as well completely and went over to other protection programs.
I see myself as an above avg. pc user and, honestly whn I tried to help family members (Even using Teamviewer) and explaining as I go along, they simply said “■■■■■ this S**t!” and made me uninstall Comodo and install thr old program for protection.
I tried the method and it works till I reboot and then try and open the game. Then It’s blocked once again, so I’ll stay with v5. If it is confusing to the avg user, what will you expect of a new user of Comodo?
Just saying - many ppl want to be able to install and go, and if they have to basically google help for things, they wont even bother! And from reading some post here about some of you being PC Experts and work on them professionally. I see that you even say that ppl come to you almost daily with infected pc’s/laptops and notebooks. If they couldnt keep the other more simple AV’s working right, how will they figure out Comodo, whn avg users are uninstalling it as well!
Just my thoughts - But I love Comodo - actually had it clean some files or areas that others missed and thats why I changed to Comodo in the 1st place!
TY for you program and keep up the good work. But plz think about Simple Sally trying to use this program as well, not all are Geeky Greg’s!
Comodo is different. It works on the Default Deny system so it can not be compared with other antivirus running in the opposite system. Since the DDS is the way it is, you have to at least make some effort if you want to change the settings. When you make some effort or leave everything by default, you will be protected to the maximum and you will have the best protection that you have ever had.
It’s easy to just say that the adjustment difficult. Try to do your best if you do not go and you always have available the forum that you maximum support. Realize that other products can easily let suspicious files in your system, while Comodo never do it
Thank you.
The problems you are having with your game, and I’m assuming you’re still talking about 9Dragons, appear to be specific to that game. As I said before, I game extensively and I am having no problems at all with any of my games. I can even say that my gaming experience is even smoother and more hassle free with CIS6 than it was with Avast Internet Security. I am getting World of Warcraft updates without a peep from CIS where Avast would give a new firewall alert (along with another one from the Windows firewall) for each update because WoW uses a completely new updater file for each update. Since they are signed and Blizzard is in the Trusted Vendors, I get no alerts of any kind from CIS. I’m loving it.
CIS6 is definitely not only for the geeks like the previous versions were and is far easier to use for average people if the settings are right (meaning left at defaults). I don’t know what settings you are using but I would suggest trying CIS6 in it’s completely default state and see what happens. If all is well, then you can try hardening a few things. I would NOT change the overall configuration away from Internet Security though.
Maybe you will realize one day that you are not the novice who you are speaking to!
You know some settings to make. You make these settings.
Still, you recommend the default using.
You dont tell people that their files may leave their computer into cloud checkings.
You dont tell them that scheduled scans will be done.
You dont tell them that they might not get questions but auto allows, +auto quarantine.
CIS 6 has a load of things which have to be mentioned.
Maybe you can set it up for total novices. Ok.
But its far more for “geek” people now when you want to know what you are using.
Too many things are hidden know.
For geeks AND for novices!
As i mentioned so often, version 3 was novice friendly. “Want to start a game? Just allow it.”
I found it allways funny that more and more things were added for novices. But these things generated questions in my head. And i had to read and to understand.
If you want to stay a novice towards the new functions, you have to blindly trust! Into cloud and stuff.
This is the internet.
We should not trust like that.
We should not teach people to act like a blind man.
And we should not suggest what we dont use ourself, like you do so often.
The novice user of security products is used to gather malware samples.
Because novices do not disable “community functions”, because they get hidden in the settings.
“Just use default, you will be protected”.
By “if the settings are right” I meant NO changes from the defaults. The other user here is using straight default settings and it works fine. Yes I have changed a few things since I am not a complete novice and know how to respond to the few alerts I might get. This does not change what I feel the novices get with the full defaults which is a high level of both security and usability. Most of those people will very rarely encounter anything unknown or non whitelisted unless it’s a piece of malware so running at full defaults provides infinitely better usability than any previous version of CIS. Having to say allow even one time for a perfectly safe thing is one time too many.
The three things you say I don’t tell them aren’t necessary to tell them since in 99.999% of the cases they don’t matter. The only time auto-quarantine could cause a serious problem is if we get a bad AV update that starts flagging system files as malware like what happened one famous time with another product and that’s the only reason I turned it off on my system. There is nothing wrong with files causing a cloud lookup and they don’t need to know about that. Most people also are fine with having scheduled scans and feel safer if they see them happening. They also are used to every product they have used in the past doing the same thing. I myself find them annoying and almost always redundant.
As for the “community functions”, nobody, novice or advanced , should disable them. They provide necessary information that greatly aids in the development and improvement of the product and it’s probably the more advanced people who would provide most of that information through the service since they would be far more likely to encounter the unknown things. If you disable the services, you’re just a leech.
I stopped using Comodo Firewall ver 6 because I’m still unable to get firefox to operate. Previously Chrome wouldn’t work either. I could execute the browser but once it was on the home screen it would continue to load. It would then continue to load and wouldn’t fully load the page. It would then lock the browser and wouldn’t be able to do anything other than terminate it. Chrome now works with the latest update but firefox doesn’t. I’ve tried just about any kind of work around possible. I’ve sent requests to sandboxie’s dev and tried to determine if something could be done.
I realize that either sandboxie or Comodo Firewall are conflicting. I would like to use both and I’ve seen people use both without an issue.
LOL.
This is one of the “most stunt” arguments i ever encountered when its about consent to submit your CLEAN files into teh internet. Especially about pre-checked “consent”.
I am reminded on “1984”. New speech.
Like: “If you disable the pre-enabled big brother services to detect wrong behaviour, you are a leecher (inside the community)!”
Maybe i read this book too early… or you will read it too late
