I uninstalled CIS on my gaming computer because CIS gave me no other choice.
As I postet here : https://forums.comodo.com/install-setup-configuration-help-cis/cant-install-new-version-because-of-older-installation-t118775.0.html the update failed and after removing all parts of Comodo (followed almost every how-to hint in this forum) the installer still dont let me re-install comodo. So I had to switch to MS ISE and windows firewall. Not my prefered choice but no other option.
[ol]- Updating freezes. Security Agent can’t be started. I have to restart (Windows 7) every 2nd time to get Comodo tray icon.
- Every time the interface changes it becomes more ugly and inconvenient. Your last skin is the apotheosis of ugliness. Why don’t you just make different skins, so normal people could have the same interface that they are used to?
- Please say me a lot of thanks for I didn’t curse you in whole this post. I have an immense temptation to criticize you in a rude manner.
- My young bro is a programmer, he says Comodo is no good now, he says I should switch to ESET. I’m very conservative in things that I use, and got to feel comfortable with Comodo during many years now. But OK, I’m tired of Comodo now. I see no more perspectives in battling with ugly interface and bugs.[/ol]
PS. I tried to switch from “Lycia theme” to “Classic” but it only says “Need to restart”, and then in options there is again “Lycia theme”, so after restart it’s the same facepalmish hell.
After updating I got a massage when the computer was starting up that Comodo wouldn’t run although it appeared to anyway.
Decided to try downloading the latest version and installing it over the top to see if that fixed it - or to do a reinstall if it didn’t.
The install program didn’t give any options, just stated it was going to install a browser, Geek Buddy and some other stuff.
Since I really only want a firewall I’ve uninstalled it instead and intend to have a look at the options available.
Feedback on the Komodo Internet security and my opinion about the developers. Your antivirus has deleted all my browser settings including bookmarks and language settings. When I tried to restore everything, every time when the browser was closed, your antivirus again deleted all the settings. What the?
Mod edit: Removed unnecessary provocative language.
With win10CU changing CFW to proactive mode resulted in: the WD tray icon disappearing; crashed WD Security Centre; but the WD process was still running.
Nothing but problems with version 10. Installer hung and then broke my system. Also, Geek Buddy and Comodo Browser not wanted. I am sticking with version 8 and searching for an alternative firewall without bloatware. I suspect, but do not know, that perhaps the reason version 10 broke my system is that I removed Geek Buddy and Comodo Browser from add/remove programs.
I tried Version 10 for a while. But I found it was constantly sending me notifications. Even opening a rar file caused it to need an allow. I finally reverted to Version 8 and have turned off “check for updates”. If the extra protection can’t be achieved without constant requests then it is not worth it. Maybe I will try it again in the future just to confirm that my complaints haven’t been addressed. Up till now I have been happy to recommend Comodo Firewall to others but I will be only be recommending Version 8. I have been very happy with the level of protection that I got from Version 8 as well as Panda Free Antivirus that I use.
P.S. Also may I say I find that only being provided an offline installer for the whole package instead of just what you require is a very retrograde step. It seems that Comodo is embarking into an area that for so long had made it different from the rest. I will also be looking elsewhere for any alternatives.
Hi michaeldayla818,
Installer hung and then broke my system.May you please share more details? How long installer was stuck for and what did you do when you observed installer was stuck?
Thanks

Love Comodo products, but version 10 has been nothing but an annoyance and things broken, still broken or new problems arise. I had CIS 10 on about 16 Desktops/Laptops and the desktop icon would keep freaking out, which was fixed in another update but the tray icon was and still is funky. It constantly refreshes or move and shows the incoming/outgoing traffic, even though it was turned off in settings.
The biggest issue I had with CIS 10 and that some Windows Updates were causing BSODs and couldnt even get Windows 10 to startup normally or go into Safe Mode, needed to refresh the OS to get those devices working again. I do love the scan speeds and other options in CIS 10, but another huge issue was programs being blocked and then being excluded or Added to Trusted Files, were still getting caught in the Blocked section after reboots or relaunching the programs. (They show as trusted and still put into Blocked section), so I uninstalled CIS 10 and went back to CIS 8.2.0.5005, on all devices, and I again am a happy CIS user.
I understand new updates/features come out and have bugs but CIS 10 has been a big issue from the start but I think a lot of that has to do with Windows 10, Microsoft, and those programs that people use to “block” MS settings and such. Best of luck with future releases of CIS 10; I’m gonna stick with CIS 8.2 as I know it works and its stable AF ![]()
Well I’m running Win7 and the Comodo FW Version 10 has blocked Win7 yet for a second time, from being able to connect to the System Event Notification Service so no accounts will load but the admin account. Couldn’t get to the internet on ANY accounts eventually. I did uninstall by proper steps provided here and reinstalled but the problem only corrected itself for awhile. Cavwp.exe kept loading at startup and I don’t even have/use the antivirus! Just fed up, so I uninstalled it for good and have been using Win7 built-in firewall. Not as user friendly, but with Windows Firewall Notifier 1.9.0.0, having no problems at all. Sorry I had to ditch Comodo, as I have used it for some years and really liked it. But this last update has just been a fiasco.
Initially I hit the black screen except for the Comodo status window issue on Windows 10 Insider Preview. Fine, that was beta software. When I switched to the release channel, I figured most of the issues would be worked out. However, I hit the same issue with 1703-15063 where the screen was blanked with the Comodo status window visible. To uninstall, I had to go into safe mode where I could not uninstall or reinstall Comodo, but I managed to cripple it enough to allow me to get to the desktop where I could uninstall it. This is an issue that I know that you are working on. I love the program and if you develop a fix, I will reinstall it. In the meantime, I will use a different program or just rely in the built in security measures.
Updates where put on hold which were available to fix such issue, however updates are available again and issue is fixed.

Hi,
I’m using Windows 10 pro fully updated.
Tested with CIS and only CF.
I uninstalled Comodo since the version 10 because it blocks any 3D games at launch (“process stopped working” or black screen), even with all the features off for testing purpose.
I reinstall following updates to see if the issue are solved (not tested with the latest version though).
I think it may be related to this issue : https://forums.comodo.com/bug-reports-cis/comodo-version-8-and-10-on-windows-10-creates-problems-on-some-programs-m2158-t118074.0.html
Greetings! I have been a long time user of the esteemed Comodo firewall. My reason for uninstalling this product is very simple: The firewall is no longer a network firewall, it has a virtual kiosk, antivirus, GeekBuddy and too many components which cannot be uninstalled/removed.
Gone are the days when the firewall was a light weight product. It would be wonderful if you could provide a lightweight firewall without these additional components (please do not tell me that these items can be disabled during install, I am aware of that).
I also realize that maintaining such a product for free is very, very difficult. So, you guys could seriously think about going the donationware/shareware route for a firewall only installer. I’m willing to pay what I can and I’m sure that many more would do so for a good product. ![]()
Almost every version for example 8, 10 secretly and without my consent re-installs its “Trusted Vendors” into Trusted Vendor list. I remove the “Trusted Vendors” from the list, re-boot, but some Trusted Vendors re-appear, which means they are re-installed against my will and knowledge. This is a trust issue: I cannot use product that does things behind my back, that I cannot control. Kaspersky was banned by Federal Government, and by Freedom itself. Freedom implies trust. Freedom is most important to a human beings, even to animals. We are not animals. I looked at my notes about Comodo’s problems: this problem exists for many years in my notes.
Please let us look into it.
Ideally, if a vendor is removed by user, trust based on that vendor’s signed files should not be applied for that user.
And if that’s not the case, code will be updated.
The last few years I was very happy with CIS and, after a short testing infidelity to Norton, I used CIS on all my machines and those of my family which I’m supporting.
But since two weeks or so I’ve got some curious problems. After an CIS update my Windows 7 key got invalid.
So I activated Windows again with the MS Toolkit.
Next: CIS found an online Update and installed it. Reboot.
A half day later: Windows activation invalid. Re-activation, reboot.
Next day: CIS found an online Update and installed it. Reboot.
You know what’s next…
Maybe it’s wrong using some Toolkit for windows activation, but is it at Comodo to judge?
While it is I’m away and back to Norton.
I merged your topic with this one.
I find it strange that you had multiple CIS updates over multiple days. I don’t think CIS is the issue with invalidating your windows licence key. I’ve used windows loader in VMs and never had an issue with needing to re-active windows with CIS installed and updating CIS.
I guess it was “virtualized”, so no actual activation has occurred.
I uninstalled from the reason in my thread in the support - completely corrupts whole of windows 10 and all drivers when using with antivirus with bitdefender signatures. - Even my comodo support ticket has been escalated since September 26 2017 11:46 by comodo staff on here … still waiting for a reply/update i even fed back the exact issues I had.
my mum also had to uninstall… same issue
