I have that concern as well.
At least they will come often, I read somewhere that there will be several updates every day. So I guess that brings hope (but no promise) that they will be small.
LA
every 3 hours is what we are aiming…
Are there any plans on updates being “incremental” ? only if you miss say 10 incremental’s you have to download a new “full” database ? this could save bandwidth both on the servers as on the clients…
I quite like the incremental update idea. That would be of great benefit I think.
i thought thats how ours work ???
Melih
I’m not sure it is. But if you say it is I’ll agree. I was merely echoing Ronny’s idea that it would be a good feature.
Hmmm… it,s exciting.
Any screens hots of pop up alerts by the AV?
What type of sound alert we will hear form the AV?
Finallyy… when we can try a beta?
Thanks
There is no date set as of yet.
Guess it’s in CAV3.
Cheers,
Josh
So we just have to wait. I can,t wait…
I gave the goal of 30 min incremental updates to our guys. They could only manage 3 hours because our signatures checked against a huge whitelist. So everytime you create a sig it gets checked against a whitelist (very time consuming process). So 3 hours is great compared to others in the market. CAV3 sig already gets updated every 3 hours. CAV3 software and how it will update, we’ll see
Melih
Well it wasn’t supposed to speed up the signature update’s but the Download of the signatures on low speed connections. If you have to download a “full” signature database of let’s say compressed 8MB then that would take much more time and bandwidth then if you have version 10.1 and only “update” the diff to 10.2 being let’s say 200KB.
CAVS2 currently uses incremental updates within the same DB revision.
Ewen
so no worries here for V3 then
Well all great and all but will this thing ever see the light of day? It took year and a half to get half baked beta that never moved anywhere. Now there is version 3 thats more vaporware than anything else ever was.
Always promises how it’ll kick everything else in the ballz, 6 months of silence and then nothing happens. Ugh?
Also ever thought about focusing on 3 products instead 10 half made? I mean Vista is out for a year and a half and no Vista compatible software. I mean who are you ppl kidding?
Hey RejZoR, I agree on focusing with less products and make them bug free instead of having tons of buggy ones.
I know that you are die hard Avast! fan. Where’s Avast! 5 ? 88) They promised a beta release in summer, but still not a sign of that.
We, users overhype everything and then we are angry when the app doesn’t come out as we expected
Hear Hear Commodus,
(Comodo Moderator United States?)
Off Topic
But Yes It’s the Users fault for their own anger
because they see that a possible release date as set from the Employees,
but Users Don’t actually understand the possible “Road Blocks” or “Problems” that could arrive,
and here Comodo Is Pointing For Number 1 And they are doing a H_ll of a job too
CG
Actually avast! 5 was unofficially announced for Q4 2008.
So there is still plenty of time…
Promise me RejZoR : I hope you will remember your words when the time comes!
I hope our users will also remember your words and remind them to you when the time comes!
