Hi Melih, how can frustration in awaiting a product that will we all know we’ll be quickly hailed as powerful as your Firewall put off certain people? They really haven’t got a clue as to all the coding involved in preparing such a program but they should in all respect give it the time it needs prior to release. The Rolling Stones said it best and it remains one of my everyday thoughts, " You can’t always get what your want, but if try sometimes, you might find you get what you need". It’ll be ready when it’s ready, keep the midnight fuel coming…
There has been no official announcement days on both products (People need to remember dead lines can SLIP, And coding takes time). Comodo have a great sizable R&D with over 250 developers, each product has their own team (That’s ONLY developers). Then each product has team leader, project manager etc… Melih has stated before that they WON’T tackle something they can’t challenge.
Infact: Comodo are making more profit then last year from there online businesses and SSL Certificates, Thanks to making security FREE Thanks to COMODO where people DON’T need to worry about: cost, what they should buy, where to buy it, etc. Comodo’s Firewall for example took some time to reach a competitive level too, Now v3, It’s one of the best, if not the best (PC Mag, CNET, etc). I am sure all the other related “BETA” products will continue to improve and take TIME to reach a reasonable competitive level where Comodo believes it can take the challenge of reaching a top spot. And really… There are SO MANY Comodo Staff members on these forums, checking bugs, helping users, etc… Which you don’t see in many forums (Eg ZA where NO ZA developers are there) - That’s where COMODO has another great initiative of Customer Support.
Bottom Line is: People ALWAYS ask and ask when things are going to be released, so we say time, and they ask again, and we say a time, and the process goes on and on and on (Is it better to NOT say anything at all? Nope). Comodo work ■■■■■■■ all products, And they work hard to get things fixed.
Look at Avast 5 they say 4th quarter of 08 that is a guess. they could have some serious bugs that takes months to fix they could also have a ■■■■■■ new AV (doubt it though ;D ) But Comodo wants a great Anti-Virus not to rag on CAVS2 but it doesn’t have the best detection and is very buggy this is why they want to make sure ver. 3 is 50 times better so people will know Comodo is very serious about protecting their users.
I can understand the impatience some of our forum visitors in wanting CAVS3 to come out. From the little tidbits I have gleaned, it seems to be much better than CAVS2 and has potential to be a very heavy hitter in the AV wars (its going to be built from ground up using latest tech and not old 25 year old AV tech by other companies).
With that said, if we can't get CAVS3/CIS soon, it's not such a big loss. Life moves on, and there are three good free alternatives (AntiVir, Avast, AVG) while we wait for CAVS3/CIS to be polished and released.
That might be a good idea… Cause usually 2 Avs running aren’t exactly recommended, And CAVS3 will be beta - No idea what could happen with the 2 combination. lol
Later there will be more components in CIS, by then it’ll be meaningful to switch from CFP to CIS - and not install the AV component, in case you want to keep Avira.
Bottom line: Better wait for something greater, than get something not so great right now
Also, are your computers without any sort of protection for you guys to be yelling for the too soon release of CIS and CAV? Just wait… and I guess we won’t regret… actually I know we won’t… I sure know I don’t regret since I switched to CFP!
You can also, If you wish in the CIS GUI You can disable enable Firewall, Defense+ or the AV. So if you install everything on installation and don’t like the AV, You can disable it in the CIS GUI and keep your AV, etc… Same Scenario with Defense+ & Firewall.
Oh yeah and there will also be a newer version of CFP 3 in CIS.
…unless a conflict arises with the driver of the CIS AV, which I presume, may still be in place. Some people say you shouldn’t disable e.g. a firewall when installing another firewall, you would have to uninstall it. I could be wrong though. I guess we’ll get all answers when CIS is actually released. :-La
I’m guessing that won’t be released until CIS is released. So, that day we will get 3 goodies. CAVS3, CIS, and new CFP. Whooo. That will seem like a great day to party. Do you know if there will be any other releases that day, like other things made compatible with CIS/CAVS?
