Solutions to CIS 2025 revoked certificate issue

Seeing how Comodo still have yet to provide an updated version to fix this issue, I have made this post for those who want to use a working CIS version.

Solution 1. Install the older CIS version 12.2.2.8012 using this link Comodo Internet Security 2020 v12.2.2.8012 Released

Solution 2. You can still install CIS 2025 by disconnecting from the internet before launching the installer, and stay disconnected after the required reboot when installation completes. Then go to the file list in CIS and manually set the file rating of CIS executables such as cmdagent.exe, cis.exe, cfpconfig.exe, cmdvirth.exe, and virtkiosk.exe to trusted. Then click ok to save the settings and reconnect to the internet.

Full list of executables to set to trusted:

“C:\Program Files\COMODO\COMODO Internet Security\virtkiosk.exe”
“C:\Program Files\COMODO\COMODO Internet Security\cmdvirth.exe”
“C:\Program Files\COMODO\COMODO Internet Security\cmdinstall.exe”
“C:\Program Files\COMODO\COMODO Internet Security\iseupdate.exe”
“C:\Program Files\COMODO\COMODO Internet Security\cmdagent.exe”
“C:\Program Files\COMODO\COMODO Internet Security\cis.exe”
“C:\Program Files\COMODO\COMODO Internet Security\cfpconfg.exe”
“C:\Program Files\COMODO\COMODO Internet Security\cavwp.exe”
“C:\Program Files\COMODO\COMODO Internet Security\KillSwitch.exe”
“C:\Program Files\COMODO\COMODO Internet Security\CCE.exe”
“C:\Program Files\COMODO\COMODO Internet Security\Autoruns.exe

@DecimaTech Should the .sys driver files of CIS in folder “C:\Windows\System32\drivers” be set as trusted or not?

You can if you want to, but it shouldn’t be required. I only mention the executables to prevent cis from blocking its own exes by hips or containment.

@DecimaTech Thanks, here is the entire .exe files list

“C:\Program Files\COMODO\COMODO Internet Security\virtkiosk.exe”
“C:\Program Files\COMODO\COMODO Internet Security\cmdvirth.exe”
“C:\Program Files\COMODO\COMODO Internet Security\cmdinstall.exe”
“C:\Program Files\COMODO\COMODO Internet Security\iseupdate.exe”
“C:\Program Files\COMODO\COMODO Internet Security\cmdagent.exe”
“C:\Program Files\COMODO\COMODO Internet Security\cis.exe”
“C:\Program Files\COMODO\COMODO Internet Security\cfpconfg.exe”
“C:\Program Files\COMODO\COMODO Internet Security\cavwp.exe”
“C:\Program Files\COMODO\COMODO Internet Security\KillSwitch.exe”
“C:\Program Files\COMODO\COMODO Internet Security\CCE.exe”
“C:\Program Files\COMODO\COMODO Internet Security\Autoruns.exe”

Thanks, I have updated the post to include the list of executables.

Doesn’t work for me… even if i disable entirely network connection i still have:

cmdhtml.dll wasn’t properly signed. Installation aborted.

What can I do? And 12.2.2.8012 version has permanently broken firewall for me… i tried reinstall it thousands times already and use cleanup tools… and nothing helped… firewall acts as it was listening at wrong interface… i have zero network traffic monitored and rules don’t work… (but killswitch app is able to show network traffic properly… it is extremely frustrating…)

The forum… that’s all well and good, but…

Has anyone recently asked the official Comodo support about this?

What was the response?

What does Comodo Support officially recommend, and what does it say about the resolution timeframe?

@Overclocker-001 This is the attitude of COMODO you are trying to maintain in dealing with this issue.

I tried to reach out to the support team and this was their response

Dear Customer,
Thank you for contacting COMODO.
Our programmers are working on a fix
Kindly let us know if you required of any more assistance.

the wait continues…

Thank you very much kchtim1 for your quick reply.

Alas, a very good product and bad communicators…

Transparency is essential in this day and age.

From the official support team:

"We are aware of the issue with the 2025 installation of the Comodo Internet Security program, we are working on it and it will be fixed sooner , as an alternate you can install the previous version , use the link given below to download and install it .

What I’m trying to maintain is an interest in a product that I really like and that I don’t want to see disappear.

I’ve already seen it disappear :

. eSafe Protect (which already had a sandbox)
. CA PestPatrol Pro
. Agnitum Outpost Security Suite Pro
. Trojan Hunter
. Spybot (no comment)
. Spyware Guard and Spyware Blaster
. Kerio Firewall
. VisualWare Security Suite
. TDS-3
. ProcessGuard and PortExplorer
. Spyware Doctor

etc… etc…

Of course, I don’t want to be the last one to bail out of the water at the bottom of the hold
But on the other hand, I don’t think there’s any reason to be defeatist or give up, because I’m confident.

If they’ve announced they’re working on it, I try to believe it’s true.

As a general rule, I try not to push people who are in difficulty…

Even if now it’s everyone who paid for Comodo CIS Pro who’s in trouble.

I don’t think I’ve received an apology message on my customer email…

Not very nice of them… I know…

You can’t expect Comodo to be commercial, that’s the way it is and nothing else. ‘Our product is very good and we don’t need anything else’.

Thank you very much szmtech for your reply.

eSafe Protect by Elia Shim - now there’s a blast from the past. I used that before moving to Comodo :+1:

My only concern with the certificate issue is that the 2025 version that is affected is still available on the download servers :person_facepalming: which is not a good image

Hi Dolphin66 ! :vulcan_salute:t2:

Ha! Ha! we’re from the same era

That was cool Esafe! (I still remember it…) :older_adult:t2:

In fact, it’s not really finished. It was bought by Thales and integrated into high-flying professional solutions (which just goes to show how good it was  ).

As far as CIS Pro is concerned, I can’t install the old version so I have to wait… :hamburger: :hamburger: :hamburger: :hamburger:

I don’t want to tinker with the files and their authorisations either. If I do things like that, it’s on Linux, not Windows. :penguin:

Let’s pray… We’re almost to the point of inventing a new Comodo special reliogion! :man_mage:t2: :bowing_woman:t2:
