Rising Antivirus Free

Are you trolling on purpose, or just plain fail to understand over and over again? 88) :-TD This has nothing to do with code optimization. It is a feature that makes it possible to create updated packages (e.g. to instal them locally on multiple boxes, save update time for dialup users etc. etc.) It does NOT affect the product’s usage of resources on runtime in any way and it speaks nothing about “optimized code”. It just creates an “installer archive” on the disk for this exact purpose and nothing else. You can’t create a new package out of the blue, you need to have the install files saved on the disk. None of product mentioned above has this feature so you can’t compare the disk usage of those and you can’t claim this to a bloatware because of this, it’s just plain stupid if you do. Period.

I think it’s you who doesn’t have a clue what we are talking about 88) This feature is usefull for admins and peole on dial-up, it’s a good thing, but not a must.

The most important thing is detection and features. The smaller the program - the better. Norton is trying to cut their program size and they did so by more than a half. Why are they doing so ? Because people HATE bloated apps, if there are smaller to choose from.

NO ONE IS BASHING RISING ! It’s good, but they can do better.

Guys RELAX and follow the rules,

Personal offences based on age, sex, race, location, cultural background or any other criteria.

So please stop about saying somebody is stupid or not, people share other visions, we will not tell them what to believe with just saying it’s an idiot.

That Rising is offering the installer files on the disk has it’s advantages and disadvantages. But the thing I don’t understand is why someone is talking about just those simple mb more when they’re using Vista or office 2007. I’m using those btw.

Guys, another time, relax or I’ll close the topic.

Xan

!ot!
I don’t know about Vista, but I can answer for Office 2007.
Office 2007 has many features which are NOT available in any other suite; the uniqueness of Office 2007 is the key.
KAV, NOD32 and Avira do the SAME, if not BETTER job than Rising in the primary functions of an AV, and they all do it using less than half of the disk space.
Rising may also have unique features, but these features are useless to the vast majority of AV users.

But you're free to delete them

key ? I think I don't get you there, I do like office 2007, but there are many features I don't need. So I throw them away (like the install files of Rising) ;)

!ot! Nice Summary Alex :-TU We are cool Xan, no one’s fighting :a0 (“You wanna piece of my boy, come on bring it on !!! >:-D” looks around and sees Xan coming, puts hands in the pockets and whistles :a0 ;D) !ot!

Now really, we’ll see how Rising progress and I hope it’ll get better and better :-TU Kudos to Rising Team !

I’ve got a question.
Avast, AVG or Avira have tradition of free AV for several years, you can download from their official sites, but if you go to Rising official site, you can’t find it.
I think, when Rising AV weill have a lot of users and well konwn out of China, free version will be killed.

Hey Vette, You’re the one that initially posted the link to virusbtn and continues to refer to it. I thought you may have had some insight as to what system the test was run on. Oh, and by the way I did ask that question…

 1. Keeps looking at Commodus :P0l

You could say the same from Comodo, the only difference is we know it for sure here. Rising will remain free, for home users I think .

Xan

This is not true, Comodo says in his page free products will be free for ever. It isn’t a supposition. You can find and dowload all their free products in his official site.
Rising will be fre for home users… a supposition. There aren’t home and pro version as AVG, AVIRA or AVAST.
With Comodo yoou can install eg CFP for free or CFP plus as a paid version with extra services.

post deleted as there was wrong information in it

Xan

Please eXperience if you copy and paste, copy and past all the paragraph

RISING Antivirus Free Edition is a solution with no cost to personal users for the life of RISING Antivirus 2008 while still provides the SAME level of detection and protection capability as Rising Antivirus 2008.

for the life of Rising AV 2008, not for the life of home users :stuck_out_tongue:
Will be there free ed. in Rinig 2009? that is the question.

I’m sorry rafel, I was to lazy to read further :). As this stays unanswered, I’ve just send a ticket asking Rising about this. I hope I will get response.

Thanks for correcting me Rafel, I will now adjust my earlier post

Xan

:o The plot thickens!

Shall I close the thread afterwards ;D

Xan

Hi Xan, over 50,000 members and it seems that we’re approx. 15 guys debating on subjective issues concerning Rising instead of the nitty gritty concerning its’ detection rates, self protection (eg: it can’t be terminated other than within the program itself), initial installation options & what not, we’ve completely gone off track on what Rising does & has to offer and what we really think the future of this AV may provide to users of it.
Let’s get other opinions of users & their take of this softwares’ performance in protecting their PCs’ rather than quibbling about what we all know as certain downfalls. What is Risings’ true purpose and how well does it carry it out.
That’s what this thread was all about from the beginning…

Regards to all & it’s still the weekend
Cheers

Maybe because the other 49985+ members either have nothing to say, or simply don’t care… 88)

IMO the subject line was too broad anyway. (:NRD)
I say close the topic; if anyone has anything interesting to ask/say they can always create a new, more focused thread.

Hey Axl, you’re absolutely correct we should deprive other members’ of this option while we all await CAV3 final release. After all we’re the connoisseurs right? Our prejudices on this AV & other programs are irreproachable correct? We know better than everybody else Axl right?

Nice try… :-TD
If you’re tired of this thread and its’ discussion (KEEP OUT!) Ever hear of Freedom of speech dude?

Regards
Xman (:KWL)

Lordy…
:THNK

By your line of reasoning, we should have ONE thread titled: Kaspersky Antivirus, ONE thread titled: NOD32 Antivirus, ONE thread titled: AVG Free… 88)

LOL, Nice try. :-TU
Ever hear of LOGIC, dude?

Best Regards,
Alex.
