Rising Antivirus Free

Sigh, this thread is going quickly downhill… I’d suggest splitting everything starting with the “bloatware” flames to /dev/null forum. 88) >:(

Guys,

STOP THE PERSONAL OFFENCES OR I WILL CLOSE THE THREAD !!!

@ Xman : As the title is Rising antivirus Free, we can discuss whatever as long as it goes about Rising. So we can talk about the goodsides and the downsides. But indeed on the latest pages we have only talked about the downsides. But that is as there is nothing more to say about detection or other features of Rising. We can’t talk about the same for ages.

Many users subscribed as they could download beta’s then only. So that explains a lot.

Xan

No I won’t, their would be no post left

The last I will say in this thread is that there are moles from Rising on this forum, and I will accept being sent to solitary confinement for that declaration.
(:NRD)

axl.

This is a free forum. I think Rising should learn from the complains of their users. If there are moles or not. I don’t think that matters. for me,

I like

  • the GUI
  • the fact that it’s free
  • the detection
  • the self defense

I dislike

  • the updates
  • the weight on the system

Xan

Hi Xan, I started this thread, close it now for I have a certain disregard towards negative thought compared to constructive thinking, thus kill it now & let others discover it and launch their own threads concerning the lion…

Much appreciated…

Threat reopened again for discussion, but guys if you do any personal attack again, I’ll lock it again…

threat opened for discussion

Xan

Hmmmmm…

What ??? The owner ask me to close it, and now asked me to reopen it again… So I did…

Xan

I think the most important is:
-Now is a pretty good AV, then, maybe in the future, will be one of the best.
-And more important, there will be free version…

I’m not a fanboy and then, i’ll test future versions.

Xman have you tested Rising against a virus that’s not in the database ?

??? What’s the point of that. If it’s not it the database, most likely it’s not going to detect it. But that’s with all of them…

Xan

Not true Xan. Most av’s can detect a virus but sometimes it wont be able to remove and delete it till the data base is updated. All it can do is quarantine it. This is why most av’s do a rescan after daily updates.

Vettetech, when an antivirus has no signature it won’t detect it or it should be using it’s heuristics. Heuristics will only find part of the virusses and normally the antivirus will ask to send them up to the dev team. There are some virusses that are not cleaned up completely by a standart one.

Xan

To test the Active Defense module. And if does fully protect the system or not. So far I do have ran a few test with some viruses. I get an alert as soon as the virus tries to create a file in the system directory or if it triggers one of the protected registry entries. Below is a pic of the module. When I get home I’ll post a picture of the System Reinforcement alert.

Hi Jeims, as stated to Xan when he graciously agreed to reopen my thread, I said I wouldn’t post further (except to respectfully give you an answer Jeims) No, I haven’t tested against viruses or other malware not included in the Rising AV database, but I believe as mentioned by Vette that through its’ heuristics & Active defense mecanism Rising should pickup something, whether it’ll cleanup thereafter I’m not sure. I’ll leave it to you to post your screenshot tonight of this particular situation since I’ve never had it occur to me yet.

Cheers Guys
