Rising Antivirus Free

Anyone tried it? http://www.freerav.com/

Patiently waiting for CAVS 3

Currently running
CPF3 with Defense+ Fully Enabled
Avast 4.8

53MB download? Pretty bloated…

Josh

Another Chinese AV/Firewall company, they sure are making moves in the security sector.

Thanks for the info… yeah, agreed it’s a big download…

Will leave it for now and concentrate on wireless problem I keep having but that’s another topic lol…

Eric. Stick with your Avast/Avira.

Josh

The only thing I find interesting about Rising AV is that their website URL

http://www.freerav.com

obviously waits for drunk people unintentionally mistyping a certain similarly sounding URL known as:

that - as we all know - leads to our lovely AVIRA

Shouldn’t we rather call that a cheap kind of phishing attempt from Beijing? (lol)

Or possibly to be kind, just a lack of realisation due to language.

NOT BAD FEEDBACK ON DOWNLOAD.COM

Rising Antivirus Free Edition

Best Antivirus freeware, Better than AVG, AVIRA and Avast

by: ryankisss on 05-Jun-2008 05:02:01 AM

Pros: Many useful features, real-time protection, the scan-engine is quite fast, low memory usage.

Cons: so far nothing.

as the poster “ryankiss” said so on the fifth of june 2008, ALL OF US will now immediately remove those oh so bad AVIRA’s, AVG’s and avast’s from our systems… (:TNG)

What fools we must’ve been to even think of them ever being able to protect us… :THNK

Now, enter RYANKISS. (:NRD)

We’ve seemingly got a new GURU to follow now. (:LOV)

And if he told us so tomorrow we’d even remove all our former security progs, because having no security prog at all could mean not being exposed to yet unknown vulnerabilities of those progs. O0

Now, that’s what I’d call ultimate wisdom. (:LGH)

Am I joking here? ???

Oh, oh, ol’ MorphOS would never dare to (now…), would he? (:WIN)

Please stay secure.

I have did some search for Rising antivirus , which is No.1 security product vedor in China ,more than 40 millions paid users .does it need recur to AVIRA ?? :THNK

Obviously, YES. :THNK

But I guess it beats NORTON at least, so be (:KWL)

I prefer using Avira, though. (:NRD)

(And I won’t tell you why.) (:TNG)

Anyone tried Rising Antivirus with Comodo Firewall and D+ enabled? Thanks.

Still constantly switching your security set up I see duke (aka woodward). The Proactive Defense is the same as KAV’s and should be disabled since D+ is far superior.

Hey V. Yeah I want to give it a try, but I didn’t want any conflicts with D+ running. I think both KAV and Rising are a lot more set and forget protection than D+ though.

Hi Guys, I’ve resigned myself to downloading a new Antivirus while biting my nails in hope for an eventual CAVS3 release and found Rising Antivirus Free of which I’m quite impressed with, not too shabby an Antivirus. It’s got guts & performance to boot. It’s actually been around for some time & the improvements are worthy of attention, it scans relatively quickly & has got a slew of heavy defense mechanisms. I’ll be using for a while until Comodo’s new
CAVS3 makes it mark & marks it’s territory among the top 10, thought I’d give you guys an option in the meantime,
for now Rising Antivirus is ranked 22nd and still advancing amongst the ranking, afterall 40,000,000 people worldwide can’t be that dense in their choice along with Sony & other major asian corporations in chosing it.

Hey Vettetech, buddy try it out & post your thoughts

:THNK

Sorry Xman I will not try it and there is a thread about this already. I would rather stick with well known and proven av’s such as KAV,NOD32,Avira and Avast. I am running NOD32 now. Rising Free doesn’t have a web shield and I like having a web shield to catch nasty’s even before you download them. Have you tried Rising on the eicar test page? NOD32 wont even let me download them. Catches it as soon as I click on it.

Hi Vette, true there was a thread already, but you’re wrong about web browsing protection it is included in the auto-protect tab, you’re not open minded enough dude, i wouldn’t steer you wrong Vette, just download and try it man it won’t bite promise & then comment afterwards…
Remember me I’m a Sandboxie user…

Regards
Xman (:KWL)

Ok Xman I might try it. But have you tried it out on the eicar test page? What happens when you click on the eicar.com,eicar.com.text,eicar com.zip and the eicarcom2zip? Does it let you download them or does it stiop it in its tracks right when you click on it? Can you show me a screen shot? Maybe I will install it under a sandbox that way if I dont like it I can just empty the Sandbox. How many proceeses does it add? Whats the ram usage. NOD32 right now is using 41,000 K.
