Hi,

Have being trying V3 but could not print to a standard Dell printer connected to a USB port no matter what I tried.

Download the latest V3 latest beta version - my perception is that it is better. However, I still cannot print.

I have a WinXP parallel install running Comodo Firewall V2 - printing is not a problem.

Have search other posts and tried various suggestions relating to My Network Zones, etc. but nothing works.

Am I missing something?

This is a dedicated (vs shared) printer? Do all of your programs fail to print or just particular ones? If you put a “block and log” at the and of the application ruleset for one of these programs, do you get any messages? What is your OS? Have you disabled any Windows Services?

This is odd - it can’t really be the firewall that is responsible for printing not working over a USB port. The problem may arise from the printer being on a protected COM port. Try giving an application like Wordpad the right to access the Protected COM Interfaces and try printing from it. You may have to alter the rights for all applications that need to print - or alter the definition of Protected COM Interfaces (not really desirable). To do that, run Wordpad and then click Defense+>Advanced>Computer Security Policy and locate and select the entry for Wordpad that was generated. Click Edit and then Access Rights. On the Access Rights dialog, change the permission for “Protected COM Interfaces” to Allow. Click Apply and Apply and Apply. Then try printing from Wordpad.

Unfortunately ‘Ask’ still doesn’t work for me, under Network Security Policy, and the GUI still fragments when switching between screens, when I have a large number of Events.

I now get a great many more svchost block entries in the firewall logs. With 3.0.13 I had maybe one or two, now I have hundreds. Seems like these are now replacing the SIP entries from before as they are the same type of blocks.

the test version 3.0.14.273 gave me a hard reboot when I tried to log into my work VPN with cisco VPN client 4.8.00.0440. i’ve had this problem with CPF 2.4 and the previous CPF3 build.
I determined with CPF2.4 it was an argument with vsdatant.dll tho I need that file to access the VPN network (I get blocked without it). when I first met this problem with CPF2.4 I did a clean rebuild and the problem persisted.

today things went fine with the VPN login until I put in my network password and the connection was established. I saw the CPF3 dialogue asking me if I wanted to rename/allow permissions for the VPN connection, but 1 second later (and before I could answer) I got the reboot.

XP SP2, 2.6G single CPU

I hope this can be fixed… other than this CPF is the firewall I’d like to use

ehm… I just wonder i should do update test new version 3.0.14.273 or not. :THNK
With current version 3.0.13.268. Not really perfect but just fine.

First few days after update to 3.0.13.268 got BSOD after resuming hibernation or sometimes don’t know why also. But these days almost a week nvr of BSOD. Also another thing is when installing s/w or update changing windows system, it’s absolutely slow, yes cpu usage very high. But last few days it’s fine now.
I just realised that openvpn not working when in train with safe mode. But i still can manage it by resetting the global rules, on My Port Sets, & My Network Zones. Now it’s ok
I cannot see others computers name on the My Network Places on train with safe mode (of course disable it i can see them all). But i still can manage it by direct using ip address like \ip addr\etc\etc

If next final realise and i need to uninstall first for the version 3.0.14.273, then i am just waiting for final one. Or just continue using? Cos of i consider this is beta testing version with setup file just 1/3 size of final realise 3.0.13.268.

I like it a lot.One or two very minor glitches that will,no doubt,get sorted in the next version
Although i have turned off auto updates i still get pop ups that tell me updates are available

Can somebody tell me what these updates are and do i want them

Thanks all admins and moderators for all the hard work in finding solution to solve the CPF v3.0.1++ , seeing the improvement of this solid firewall is a good sign. Keep up the good work to continue keep this going on.

Hi,all just to share some trouble that I am experiencing. I have manage to solve the cisco vpn problem and able to connect , but whether it can be connected in my School Network is another question.

I disable UAC already as current I replaced it with Defense + ( spyware terminator with HIPS on temporary till I can solve comodo fully)
I updated some important fixes from microsoft which will not affect CPF

The real problems

CPF seems to still crash at a period of times at the log viewer, and also at the Miscellaneous, setting my configuration settings . I not too sure why.
CPF loads slow at vista startup and also shutdown at least 30s- 1min ( initially takes about 5-10 seconds to shutdown )
CPF have some problem with infineon TPM software, when boot into desktop sometimes popup " Found New Hardware" after going through this I realized it was hardware installation for TPM which never happen before.

These is so far the problem which I also trying to solve it, because I know certainly Comodo Team already trying to find solution for so many bugs and problem. Therefore I will let you have these few of problem I face currently. While trying to solve these problem.

My only notable issue with version 3.0.14.273 is that ICS clients (Vista Home Premium 32 bit) cannot connect to the internet through my ICS host (Vista Ultimate 32 bit) computer.

Previously I had system slowdowns and repeated alerts/multiple entries for the same application.

No, and No (but did closed other viewable wins).
I did have to enter Safe Mode to disable the beta v3 release.

I haven’t installed in safe mode & only after ending non-ess Win processes in nearly 10 years (Win 95 or earlier?) That should not be necessary, or if it is then the app should refuse to install otherwise.

My problems are comletely solved by reverting to v2.4. I’ll wait six months & come back to find a stable, beautiful v3 or v4. That’ll be fun.

decided to go back to the beta again (:LGH), sounds like as said in the changelog it really works better together with Avast. But again, the firewall has completely stopped logging a few hours ago. I’ve deactivated and reactivated the logging function, rebooted, that all brings nothing, nothing in the log viewer. Any idea? What could I do to have it work again? (apart from reinstalling) thanks.

update: after I disconnected and reconnected my router (from the internet), CFP logs again…any explanation?
( I didn’t have any connection issue when I did that, that what just to see how CFP behaves after that)

running Win XP/sp2 + CFP 3.0.14.273 + Avast AV + MS Defender

adding: I’ve had a crash (of CFP 3.0.14.273) when purging the pending list, sent the automatically generated report to Comodo via mail. That type of crash has happened in the same conditions already earlier today when I was still on the official release 3.0.13.268)

adding: I lost twice all network access from the PC to my router today (router was well connected to the Internet), had to reboot to get connected again. Can’t tell if that’s CFP related.

I downloaded and installed the new test version.Installation no problem but even without Defense+ active the application still ended absorbed 50% of CPU usage. That is down from the full 100%. It should be noted I am running Windows XP SP2 with Intel Core2Duo and 2 Gig of computer ram.
