I’m going back now to the official release, waiting for an official update sometime next week. Couldn’t get CFP logging again so I uninstalled it. And btw Windows Security Center still signals CFP “on” after uninstall and reboot :SMLR.
The only issue I had with the official release was Def+ learning indefinitely AVG AV processes, no big deal I can live with that for a few more days, knowing in advance that this AVG issue was solved with the beta discussed in this thread. But I’d rather have something in my log viewer in the meantime. Thanks for all the good work!
I have downloaded & installed V 3.0.14.273 Beta & have been using it for most of the day. From my previous post you will note that I had experienced major problems with the earlier version as well as V3. I am really very pleased to now report that, so far, this latest Beta version has been performing faultlessly & in every way is superior for my use. I have also performed a number of leak tests and the results were a pass with flying colours. Additionally there have been no problems or conflicts with Boclean
Thanks Melih & the team, you have restored my faith in Comodo
(:AGL)
Have tried the ‘new’ version 3.0.14.273 & am still having trouble with Avast updating automatically — did not have a prob with version 2.4…Is there a work-around for the issue until the new version comes out.
windows xp service pack 2 , spybot, avast home 4.7
Unfortunately nothing helps to solve my hibernation and reboot problem. Have to switch off Defense+ permanently. Will wait for good times…
Moreover it looks like something wrong with installation mode. Yes, I have started it but anyway Defense+ worked as always and I remember about this mode only after two days (!!!) because I see the window with proposition to switch off Installation mode. By the way this window was unfocussed - why don’t bring it in front of all others? Maybe that’s why I didn’t see it theese two days.
Tried doing the above and it only worked for a few minutes. But I had only removed the rule in the Firewall section. Apparently there is a similar rule in the Defense+ section
I had turned off Defense + yesterday so it didn’t occur to me to be necessary to mess with it. But I followed Osage’s advice and found the settings in Defense+>Advanced>Computer Security Policy and removed them. Immediately got a pop up for svchost and 20 minutes later and ICS is working still
On a seperate subject, with V2 I was having all sorts of problem playing the game Call of Duty 4 online. Because this uses the anti cheat service Punkbuster the game was stuttering big time every few seconds, characterised by a network lag followed by the pc itself stuttering. Under this version of V3 those problems have disappeared
P.S.: You should attach that info to the .273 test version post, since it there states that ICS works - which it won’t unless above is applied manually.
Issue with ICS only (can see local network but cannot connect to internet via ICS unless firewall is disabled), although despite having a Global Rule blocking all incoming connections I still managed to download a BitTorrent file, which concerned me a bit as I’ve not set any rules for my torrent downloads…
Hey guys. At last, thanks to new 273 version, my problems are gone, no more BSOD’s. So, devs have removed some bugs, that were causing conflicts with windows zero conf. Now CFP 3 runs perfectly.
V3 will not let me use my preferred web browser, firefox. I tried a suggestion in another thread to remove all instances of firefox from the Defense+ security policy and the firewall application rules, but this did not help. Please release a fix or patch soon.
Using Firefox with v3.0.13.268 with no problems; but I have got D+ switched off.
However it still ran with D+ on, just other problems with D+ with BOClean alerts every 3 secs.
I thought I had posted this last night but evidently the post did not go through. But thanks to a post by Egemen and jonneysmith on page 42 of this thread, I finally found something I had not tried yet,
and now bottom line, I have ICS working with the new beta. But bottom line, I found that Egemen was correct and one had to delete the window updater rules from application policy with the group policy editor.
But I also want to point out that Egemen is only partially correct from what I can see.
In some cases, certain pop up regarding svchost and ICS may occur upon install of the new beta on
the host computer without deleting the windows updater first. I have reliable people reporting that this happens as Egemen says, on their computers. But in my case these pop ups came only AFTER deleting the updater rules. And then these pop ups came, and then suddenly after allowing these pop up questions, ICS worked correctly. In terms of answering the why this is so question, it may be almost impossible to easily troubleshoot. But given the almost infinite variety of hardware and software on our computers, it could be understandable that something blocks these pop ups on some computers. But it sure makes the job of people trying to help others on this forum more difficult when someone else’s computer acts differently than their own.
And speaking of a someone here on these forums who has gone way beyond that extra mile, thanks panic.
I noticed a hibernation problem myself. I can click start, turn off computer, hibernate and wake up hitting the power button. Likewise, I can close my lid and go into hibernate, hit power button, everything OK.
The problem is, after the set time to hibernate in power settings, it doesn’t, but goes into stand-by? If I hit my power button, the laptop powers down. I can deal with like this
I’d also like to mention, I haven’t had any problems with the firewall finding new private networks and can connect to the 'net without 0.00.0 or 169… IP’s I’m not sure what I did, or if I did to correct the problem, but it isn’t there any more.
