Ooops…
had CFP crash when I clicked more in firewall events. I’m not sure if this had anything to do with it, but sometime before I turned on protocol analysis. It seems to be OK now, trying with protocol analysis on and off.

I try Comodo 3, but didn’t work well with programs in SanDisk U3 Flash Drive. Alot of popups. Not learnig.
Alright, I have just downloaded the newest version, 3.0.14.
Let’s just see … I originally began with uninstalling 3.0.13 to begin a new slate on the program. Restarted and everything seemed fine. Now, as for installing, went smoothly. Before restarting, I have opened up COMODO and tried to configure it (which usually works with other security programs). I had ran into a problem after restarting as to Windows XP would log me in, but only the wallpaper is displayed. I could start task manager, but I no privileges allowed. I had to go into safe mode and uninstall.
Now, I have reinstalled, and restarted as I should have. Everything seems to be running now, and I configured it as far as I can (by I can, I mean as far as I understand, GUI still stiff for me).
My original problems:
Also, I happen to realize that Microsoft Windows Disk Cleanup utility (built in) happens to crash/freeze when I choose the clear restore points except the latest one. This happens even when the Restore Point process is allowed and the explorer.exe process is allowed. Please tell me this will be fixed in the next version. There should be no reason why a built in utility would be messed up by a firewall.
… …
Yeah, I also notice some problems occurring with built-in Windows programs after installing COMODO v3. But, your lucky to notice your problem with WordPad. I noticed my problem while I was using Disk Cleaner to clean away past RESTORE POINTS. Yes, I have also given permissions to Disk Cleaner to run and System Restore to run.
I really hope COMODO 3.0 gets these problems corrected. As I’ve said before in an eariler post, there should be no reason that a acclaimed firewall should have compatibility problems with built-in Windows utilities.
I have just ran the Disk Cleanup Utility, and so far, so good. Resource usage seems to be lower, so thats all nice. Now, I still do notice a couple of GUI slow downs, but not as bad as before. Compatibility seems to have been worked on.
I need to see if the Avast entries will appear constantly on the pending files list again. Also, need to see how prompts act and GUI loading. Got to continue monitoring the Disk Cleanup Utility to check it problem recures.
Otherwise, keep up the good work, COMODO !! (Suggestion: work on GUI a bit, have verteran users be able to configure it like 2.4, and I will be very happy.)
EDIT-
Darn, GUI slowdowns is just as bad as V3.0.13 … It seems that COMODO GUI slows down when programs are running. It isn’t able to call on its icons quickly for display …
Have anyone tested if this new beta update works with Kaspersky Anti-Virus 7.0.0.125???
this beta 3.0.14.273 is still unable to “learn” that avgcc.exe is a trusted app or that firefox.exe is a trusted app (D+ errors). The same authorization pops up constantly.
Firefox, in fact, is completely disabled (failure to initialize) when D+ is active.
That’s less than an improvement, but is a clever tactic if you intend to block me from further posting my litany of v3 problems.
I never saw GUI slowdowns with 3.0.13, but 3.0.14 GUI realy super lazy. I hope this will be fixed in new upd.
I have downloaded the latest Beta but I’m hanging on before installing it.
It would appear that the D+ remembering things (like BOClean) has not yet been fixed.
This was the problem I was having and had to disable D+ in order to use CFPv3.
The rest of the Firewall works fine for me except the odd BOClean alert around once or twice a day. Not sure why it can’t remember it’s own sister products?
Mike.
Did that. And turned ‘Alert Settings’ to very high (presume thats what is meant by ‘let cfp show you popups for incoming dns lookup’) then restarted cfp. Result is that if I switch cfp to disabled and then back to training mode, ICS works for about 5 minutes and then stops - and I get no pop up’s at all
What happens if you insert the Sonic CD? FYI, the Sonic CD recording CD is usually bundled with either a CD/DVD burner or with a complete system.

Please add me too. (:WAV) XP SP2 Comodo Firewall Pro v 3.0.13.268
Problem I have… Enabling Protected Registry Keys causes cmdagent.exe to use 98% CPU
Just two questions.
Did you uninstall in safe mode?
Did you install with only essential windows process running ie:- definitely with AVG shut down
As I have no problems with AVG7.5
Dennis
Test version 3.0.14.273 cured my problem… Thanks. :BNC
Enabling Protected Registry Keys no longer causes cmdagent to run at 98% CPU.
Looking forward to the next full release.
When I heard about v3 I immediately tried it, but it crashed with BSOD at the moment it started after installation. I uninstalled it as completely as possible, and reinstalled it, but with the same result.
I then uninstalled it and reinstalled the old version with no problem.
Now, some time has passed and I would like to try with v3 again. But reentering all the firewall rules is something I would like to avoid. I am not the only user of my computer, and the other are not capable of making educated guesses about what to allow and what not to allow, so I prefer to get the rules absolutely right, and tell the other users that they should deny access to everything that might crop up.
Is there a way to export the firewall rules so that they can be reimported in v3 or after reinstallation of v2?
What do you mean - hibernation problem? I have no hibernation problem before COMODO installation and I have no such problem if I disable Defense+. Maybe I have to allow direct access to drive and monitor - and it will help? Will try but anyway - it is not hibernation problem, it is a bug!
Taking into account that I cannot reboot with COMODO normally…
Newly added rules to the Predefined Security Policies DO NOT appear in the Defense+ popup alert ( in the ‘Treat this application as’ drop down menu ).
Thanks for doing this, Melih. V3 really didn’t work for me once I upgraded from V2. It slowed my system considerably and broke my wifi network. Here’s hoping this new test version fixes these problems!
Still no system tray.
Defense+ Kernel gets installed no matter what you choose.
Did Basic Firewall and it still installed and enabled Defense+.
This version (v3.14) still causes explorer windows to no have their title.
It was nice to be able to open the main cpf window from the shortcut since there was nothing in the systray.
Upon uninstallation of every v3.x, there is a blank App_Init DLL entry left behind from where guard32.dll was.
Just noticed, only for the second time that CFP tray icon didn’t come out after a reboot. Not a big issue, since anyway the more security software you got on a computer, the more you got missing icons in the system tray for some reason (?). I often have to log out and back in to get them all back. Just it never happened before with CFP.
adding, for some reason, eventhough logging is still enabled for both the firewall and def+, CFP stopped logging anything for a few hours on my machine. I cleared the log 2 hours ago and still nothing so far. I usually have a constant flow of blocked traffic (UDP stuff from the router) that appear in the log, I kinda miss that! :SMLR
Internet Connection Sharing(ICS) issues.
8.3 path conversion and its associated duplicate entries/not remembering my answer problems(e.g. for BOClean or AVG)
False alerts from some AV programs
Crashes while opening help file from the GUI links
Ya, all of the above occured for me plus some more. My system takes very long to boot up then i turn on the system (not from hibernation though,) i cant get WMP 11 to connect to my Xbox 360 and a few other issues (AVG won’t update when Comodo is on.)
I downloaded the test version and most of the problems are fixed (except the boot up part!)
I want the new test version. I had problems with avast when opening the files to be reviewed for submission and the program crashing whenever opening help files from the GUI. Didn’t notice any other problems as of yet.
