He doesn’t really need it, he can rip and burn CD’s and DVD’s without it. If it isn’t in the add/remove he may want to try Zsoft uninstaller. Plus someone already posted links. I noticed Roxio/Sonic software buggy since I got this laptop from Dell.
He can also download Dell Decrapifier, it should turn up in that.
We will update CFP this week. Current efault configuration had “Windows Updater Applications” rule in the network security policy->Application rules. That is preventing DNS lookups incoming to ICS. We will fine tune the configuration but until we do it, you need to Delete the entry “windows Updater Applications” in application rules, and let CFP show you popups for incoming DNS lookups for svchost.exe.
Then it should work without a problem. For build .273 ofcourse. .268 is incompatible with ICS.
Here is a pic of the sonic dla pop-up which is one of the pop-ups i get. I hate it!! As you can see I tried the firewall again, and behold there is the popups again!
I’m almost positive this is a Dell Roxio/Sonic problem.
Have you looked to see if it’s in you add/remove? If you want to keep it, check Dell drivers and downloads for your system on the Dell site. I know they have the driver there
look I can fully understand how annoying this must be. But I definitely cannot relate the event to CFP. Oh I don’t know if you missed it, I posted a link earlier for you if you need a good software to burn your DVDs and CDs (it’s free):
(Vista compatible now)
I have it installed with CFP and no issue whatsoever (but no DLA like with Direct CD if that’s what you absolutely need)
Well, I don’t want to mess with anything on my computer, I didn’t get these problems with the previous verions of CPF 3 (alpha, beta, rc) plus I just want this fixed and not me altering my computer (you don’t want me messing with computer settings) :‘( :’( :‘( :’(
Hiker gave you a good advice. Checking the Dell web site and downloading some new drivers that could fix your problem, or a patch, has got nothing to do with messing with your computer. That’s something usual, and normal, and frequent to do on a PC.
They aren’t telling you to mess with settings. They just mean to check for software updates on dell’s site. Updating your software (and possibly drivers) may fix the compatability issues you seem to be having with comodo v3.
Even if comodo didn’t exist, eventually you’d run into problems with something else if you didn’t check for updates once in a while.
Yeah, just make sure to read everything carefully and print instructions out if needed. I don’t know how old your computer is but I’m willing to bet there’s a new BIOS.
look, that’s just an example among thousands, if I hadn’t updated my EasyCD Creator software through the Roxio website, I wouldn’t have been able to continue using the software when SP2 for XP came out. Which makes me think that apart from bios updates ( I got a Dell too), I never found what I was looking for on the Dell Web site, apart from oudated drivers; they might have changed their policy now and be more up to date with software. Otherwise I’d rather advise to check the maker’s web site for each software you use (again you’ll have to go to Dell, as Hiker told you, for a bios update, as Dell puts it’s “own Intel” mainboards in their computers.)
God we’re slowly getting out of topic in this thread…
Ok, I will look for patches soon after I reformat my computer later on the week after using the new firewall which will come out hopefully next week (if the problem continues though with the newest update). I uninstalled sonic dla and it worked…thanks.
Will the official release next week include the much wanted TC?
Or just completely bug free. Oh yeah and i bet the “T” in TC stands for Trust. :D. I was thinking TrustControl.
