Please tell us if V3 didn't work for you. Here you can get a test version! (look at the poll)

Comodo v3.0.13.268 didn’t work for me, but not for the reasons listed in the poll. My issue was that the msiexec.exe installer (specifically for pcAnywhere) kept firing off at login, not to mention any time I ran Windows Update or launched MS Word 2003. I suspect a Registry glitch but just can’t figure it out.

The forum entry I posted to regarding this can be found here:

https://forums.comodo.com/help_for_v3/another_v3_wierdness_with_pcanywhere_105-t16307.0.html

Though clearly this isn’t happening to everyone, other posts indicate it’s happened to some folks where they saw an installer for the Dell Resource CD kick off, or for HP printer drivers, etc. The other posts had responses all geared around re-installing the particular app, when clearly the problem (if you read my posts) is with Comodo’s installation.

I really hope someone looks into this, as other than this one issue, for me this version of Comodo has otherwise run just fine (no 100% CPU, etc.).

My only other comment regarding this version is that the export/import feature doesn’t work. I exported my configuration before uninstalling to test things out, and upon reinstalling and importing that exported config, found it did not restore my settings as I would have expected. Basically, it didn’t work at all, so I now have to reconfigure my firewall again.

Yes, I’ve tried. But “Firewall>Network Security Policy>Application Rules” hasn’t a “Windows updater applications” rule (I’ve tried in two different systems). Worse: my build is .268, and Egemen suggestion is for .273 only. Shouldn’t I try to update it first?

Rosivaldo.

Yes. This thread is about 273

Thank you very much. I’m ashamed about how wrong was my read of the first post in this thread.

OK, I am new to CFP. I downloaded the newest v3, and installed because you are the only ones that support both Vista AND 64bit that i can find. The only problem so far is using the new Windows live mail program, i cannot get my gmail account to recieve mail. It sends it, just won’t recieve. I have looked and tryed multiple posts that are out there in the forum, but none of them work. Also, I am not sure what i am to see, but when i go into the advance tab of the firewall, and select the predine programs, it doesn’t list any programs at all. Even when I go to the defense + side, it doesn’t list the mail program at all. Pls help.

I had issue with starting The Bat! email program. As soon as I start The Bat! Comodo run to 100% CPU and all was really blocked. Restart was only solution.

Now I installed the 3.0.14.273_XP_Vista_x32.exe and all previous problems seems to be fixed. So far I did not observe any problems except with some small with help file. I had message that there is some undefined error in verse 232 and if I want to debug but all is working fine. After I block C:\Windows\hh.exe access to internet no more error message. Looks like some minor bug. Same default settings for Firewall and Defense+ as before.

Good job, well done.

bug in the submission process:

just something I noticed: say you wanna do an online lookup with a bunch of files, and some of them are found safe, then you get prompted to submit those found unknown. A yes answer then leads to all files being submitted, including the safe ones. And once that’s done and you’re back in the pending list, the safe files haven’t been automatically removed of course. The only workaround is to answer no at the submission prompt, get your safe files moved automatically, and select what’s left to manually submit it.

Does this version fix problems with Firefox not being remembered as a trusted Application (on 32 Bit XP) as well as upon exiting the firewall it completely freezes up all connections…

Ok, I have just installed the Test Version and here is a quick report:

  1. Comodo could not remember Firefox as a trusted application as I entered it manually before running it for the first time.

  2. Stealth Port wizard seems to be not working properly as uTorrent is showing Yellow Triangle. This was not the case with the public version 3.

I shall post the other issues here as and when found out.

Thank you.

It seems to remember my configuration after running a few days and setting the privileges. Why treat Firefox as a trusted application and not a browser?

Its also very important, if we could kindly ask you to share with us if this version has fixed the issues you had. This would help us immensely.

I have used the beta fix v3.014.273 for a couple of days and it seems to have fixed my problem with Firefox. However, today Comodo repeatedly blocked my Windows update. Adding it to the safe list did not solve the problem. The update finally worked when I temporarily shut off Defender+.
Otherwise, everything seems to be working.

P.S. I use Windows XP, Avira AntiVir, Spybot, and Ad-Aware

Beta V. produced MSIEXEC.EXE issues.

Beta V. gets along better with AVG Free vs. AVG Trial

Ok so I installed the Beta Comodo Firewall Pro and so far so good as far as Firefox goes…but it may take awhile for it to start acting up like it did before…if it still isn’t fixed that is…otherwise it will probably be just fine…I did the Firewall and defense + in training mode for about 10 minutes first though to get it acquainted…then switched the firewall and defense + to the next highest protection levels…I also added firefox to the trusted apps list after I installed and rebooted, so maybe that is the problem.

Since I haven’t had any problems connecting to my router and haven’t got any new private network notices, I withdrew my vote.

I tried again and still can’t pass the leak test, but BOClean stops it cold as I first click on the leaktest icon to test. I elect not to remove the file and fail the test.

User error? :THNK

Otherwise, two thumbs up!

I’m sorry to post this issue again, but aren’t there others with the same problem?

For some reason CPF3 triggers the execution of an MSI installer whenever I use office applications. The installer corresponds to a non related application. Uninstalling CPF3 solves the issue. Using CPF2.4 also makes this issue disappear.

The system is running on a fresh installation (OS and software)

  • tried marking office apps as trusted with no result

  • tried disabling HIPS with no success

Any suggestion are welcome.

I am using the 268 version at present…

As per suggestion by another member I put CFPv3 in the BOClean excluder and tagged it as a trusted application and so far I have not had the CFP alerts for BOClean that I was getting every few hours.

However I thought I’d try the D+ again which I had to disable due to D+ BOClean Alerts every 3 seconds. The remembering problem seems to still be there.

D+ did it’s normal learning mode of my start-up programs and then finished as usual.
However as soon as I launched an application (Wordpad) it refused to remember the ‘Trusted’ setting and continued to post (Wordpad) alert boxes.

Have turned off D+ again and every other aspect of CFPv3 (268) works great.

I have the 273 version downloaded but not yet installed.
Could someone tell me if this beta version solves the remembering problem and when it will be officially released as an update?

Thanks,

Mike.

the remembering issue seems to be solved with this beta. My issue was AVG AV being learned again at each boot by Def+. Doesn’t happen anylonger.
as for the release date of the next official update, I’ve read in this thread that it should be anytime this week.

Thanks Leopard; I will wait for the official update; it may well have a few other mods by then.

I have no issues with D+ (v .273) and BOClean. Using Works 2001 with no issues there either.

I hope the official version comes soon…
