CPF 3.0.10.238 BETA 32-Bit Bug Reports

cpf.exe crashed after I reconfigured the rules on a few applications and closed the window.

Files-Upload crash dump uploaded here.

OS: Vista

Acer Aspire E700
Vista Home P. Version 6 Build 6000
Intel Core Duo 6300 [ at ] 1.86ghz
1024 DDR 2 Ram
AVG 7.5 Anti Virus Professional

Export configurations in Vista
I log in admin account but cannot export it says lack of rights for path if I shutdown CPF3 then right click on Cpf icon and select open as adminstrator then I can export configurations.
All other programs work fine in the admin account if they required admin rights but not CPF3 it seems to run as limited even though I am in a admin account.
Does anybody else have this problem?
It was the same in the previous Beta but I did not post.

Hello

CFP 3.0.10.238 still has the slow initialization. It takes approx. 4-5 minutes for it to initialize. I did a leak test to see if it was just the GUI or if it was the protection. The following is the results.

Hello

“CFP is being initialized” is a long term “bug”, since CFP alpha released. It’s a vulnerability after system boot up, in 5-10 minutes ,Defense+ will not protect against any Suspicious behavior.

We(Chinese Comodo Community) have found it’s a confilt with Terminal Services.
A temporary solution : you can click start —> run -----> input ‘services.msc’ in the ‘Run’ window, look for “Terminal Services”,set it to manual start and start it, then reboot system to check.

I hope Egemen will reproductive this issue, and solve it in next RC release .

regards

I installed new beta firewall in my wife’s Vista (32 bit, Home Basic, AV is TrendMicro). Is running okay so far. Only problem I have is when I try a manual update. I get this: “Error 108: Update could not be completed. Please check your internet connections.”
My internet connection is fine.
Even with this error it runs rings around the firewall I had on.

Wife knows I have put new 3.0 beta on–she has yet to get her hands on computer yet. She will soon.

Thanks ubuntu for the temporary fix. My Terminal Services is now set to disabled. I will try what you have recommended.

John

Could also be cmdagent.exe not opening/opened. Check task manger to see if cmdagent is there. If it is not there than that is the problem because cpf will not initialize without cmdagent from my experience.

It’s not a bug.

3.0.10 fails to detect a second network after installation.

During installation, it correctly detected ethernet NIC. After installation, it failed to detect PDA when inserted, despite option to detect new networks being selected. Manually adding policies allows the traffic.

System Info

OS : XP SP2 fully patched
CPU : Pentium 4D 3.0Ghz
Security S/W : CFP 3.0.10, CAVS 2 (Latest), CMG (Latest)
Total RAM : 3GB
Available RAM : >1.4GB

Ewen

Previous BETA blocked all AKLT 2.5 tests, but 3.0.10.228 now fails when running DIRECTX test.

New beta no longer gives me a BSOD during shutdown after running the keylogger tests. No abnormalities so far running other apps after running keylogger tests as reported in this thread:

Yes cmdagent is in task manager.

John

I should add that I have XP home SP2, CAVS, BOC,CMG,CFP no other security software.
Intel Pentium D 3ghz 1gb ram.

I just ran all of the tests and the firewall caught all of them. On the screenshot 2 test the firewall caught it but it did put a .jpg on my desktop even though I could stop MS Paint.

I have my Defense+ set to “Train with Safe Mode” and I did choose “Block” on each test when I got a popup.

Hi Folks

I posted this in General Discussion as well, but as soon as I saw others were having a similar issue as I am, it DOES seem to be a bug for some of us.
My CFP GUI is less than useless to me…it is so badly chopped that I only get a portion of the “Summary” button and I can’t get into ANY configuration areas to do any testing of anything.
It was like this in 3.0.9.229 and I thought maybe 3.0.10.238 would fix it but it’s EXACTLY the same, chopped in the same spot (see attachement)
I also run 120DPI on a 22" LCD and do NOT wish to change that, but it makes no difference whe I did it for a test anyway. I noticed someone mentioned Font Size possibly, but my font is a regular style (Franklin Gothic Medium) [ at ] 8 point, so it’s not being “pushed aside” or anything like that. I’ve tried a few things related to my screen/graphics settings but nothing works yet, neither has uninstalling and reinstalling (in Safe Mode).

I certainly would like to test this version more thoroughly but I can’t get to ANY config sections so I may have to go back a few versions just to get protection. Oh yah, still had Win Update problems as well…had to uninstall CFP to get updates on this fresh reinstall as every single one failed as long as CFP was installed.

Vista 32bit
Core 2 Duo E6700
4G’s RAM
No BSOD’s or error messages
Thx

If we are using the same BETA (3.0.10.238), it puzzles me why we are having different results. I removed the keylogger from the security policy and reran the test. The DIRECTX test is definitely getting by Defense+. See access rights below. I too selected block on all the alerts that ensued during the test.

I just tried the DirectX test again to be sure I wasn’t screwing it up and when I try to type something in I get a popup for everything then I choose to block it and the keystroke never gets thru. I get only the window with the green checkmark.

What setting are you using for Defense+?

jasper

Sorry for the double post, but since the previous BETA is closed, I assume no one will be looking there anymore.

Windows XP Pro 32-bit + SP2 + Security Fixes

1.Horizontal scrollbars missing in some of the panels such as ‘My Pending Files’, ‘View Process List’, etc.(Scroll1 and Scroll2 below). The event windows have this problem too.

  1. Some fonts still truncated when running with 120 DPI.like in ‘Summary’, ‘Defense Settings’, etc.
    (Trunc1 and Trunc2 below)

3.The Beta does not allow for separate windows to be minimized or shown by themselves such as
‘Active Connections’ or ‘View Firewall Events’

4.Changing column widths is not permanent, Moving and sorting columns is not possible. Window
settings are not remembered.

Is the development GUI toolkit really that restrictive?

I launch Notepad and do all my keystrokes there. Can you try that?
I’m using Train with Safe.

Al

I tried the test again with notepad and the firewall will block the first attempt when it asks about accessing Service Control Manager and I block and it still shows green. I then tried to type some more and it gave me a popup asking to access the keyboard and I chose to block and then it will show one letter and change to red and show fail.

I would think that the test would be concerned with the first popup to see if that is caught or not because it does stop the text from being intercepted. I’m guessing that is what they were looking for in the test.

Maybe someone else on here could try the test and see what they come up with.

I am getting repeated duplicates of security policy entries for some programs, i.e., various components in AVG Antivirus. They seem to accumulate every time I reboot my PC.
