Here we are again excited to announce that COMODO Internet Security/Antivirus/Firewall 8.2.0.4591 Hotfix is released ! Main focus of the release is the bug fixes which have been addressed according to reports submitted by our users.

Existing CIS 6.x, CIS 7x and CIS 8.x users will receive an automatic update offer for the built 8.2.0.4591.

What’s new in 8.2.0.4591?

New:

Installation-end Welcome Page:

•After CIS installations you will be directed to a landing page where you will find the details of the product and the benefits of the features.

Improved:

Live Support:

• In case you need you will be able to open Geekbuddy chat window directly on malware found notification window.

Fixed:

We have addressed many issues reported by our users in this release. Here are a selected few:

• CIS Firewall doesn’t recognize safe applications with short-format path (e.g. \progra~1)
• Diagnostics failed after update windows from Win 8.1 to Win 10
• Chromodo UAC and update offer appear during CIS installation
• Malicious and unrecognized file does not run in Sandbox from VTRoot folder
• Sandbox does not block malicious launched from ‘Quarantine’
• CIS/CES COM components keys should be removed from registry after installation
• Incorrect displaying name in ‘FW Application Rules’ after removing application via “IOBit Uninstaller”
• ASE is freezes after launch ‘Purge’ with empty rule

I have the previous CIS installer i.e 8.2…4508.
I am going to install CIS.
Guess installing 4508 & then upgrading through the GUI would be better instead of downloading fresh installer for the new one.
Upgrading through GUI will be a small update, right?

Updates for existing CIS 6.x, CIS 7.x and CIS 8.x users are delayed a little bit. Sorry for inconvenience.

Are you sure about that? I just updated CIS 8.2.0.4508 to 8.2.0.4591 via internal updater.

We stopped updates at the moment. We found an issue at production and need to fix it first.

Hi Everybody,

There are no problems with the installers for now (except windows 8.1). We need to have a check on the updates (there may be some issues on binary updates).

I will let you know once we fix the problems. Thank you very much for your understanding.

No, sadly they have NOT re-added the purging of non-existant files in this new build (8.2.0.4591). I will re-raise the request…

A Comodo staff member confirmed that purge will be re-added in a later release, link here.

She talked about “big release”…this one is more like a hotfix than big release :wink:

Hello Mike,

This is a minor hotfix release so the main purpose of the release if the bug fixes. We will be adding the purge button with the next major release .
