CIS on Windows 11 keeps blocking Task Manager

Yes, when the task manager is open, HIPS starts to " tantrum " and yells about ESET self-defense.

I do not pay attention to this, and I recommend the same to ComodoUser2025.

As I mentioned before - not an option.

Serious sound like you got a virus in your computer and do a fresh of windows and install CIS 2025 update and configure it the way you want see what happen. Or, you got an illegal copy of CIS

At least two other people confirmed this problem, but sure, I got a virus on multiple new computers and multiple old computers, and I got an illegal copy of CIS (whatever it means considering that CIS has free versions).

I don’t see the logging of HIPS alerts for Task Manager accessing Comodo files a bug or problem. It protects itself and it has been explained that the same occurs with the likes of ESET.

The same will happen with Process Explorer which is similar to Comodo’s Killswitch which gives you far more information than just task manager and it doesn’t create HIPS log so my advice is still to use it instead or just ignore the log spam or stick with that workaround you used.

But you’ve said “not an option” so I hope you find a solution that works for you. CIS/CFW is working as intended in this regard.

Well, I do, and I am waiting for devs’ input.

CyberPower app contained again:

I decided to try ESET to see if it really complains about Task Manager. I installed trial Premium version on Windows 11 laptop. Maybe I configured something differently, but so far I’ve got no alerts or logs about Task Manager.

So I played with it a bit more, and I found this “Log all blocked operations” option, which is disabled and should stay disabled unless “troubleshooting or requested by ESET Technical Support”, according to ESET website. If I enable it, then I see logs about Task Manager. But with this option disabled, no logs about Task Manager are created. And no matter whether this option is off or on, I don’t see any counts about blocked intrusions as with CIS.

ESET: 1) TOOLS 2) Log Files 3) Partition - HIPS System 4) On. Task Manager and everything will be visible!!!

" If I turn it on, I see logs about the Task Manager. " Well, this means that HIPS ESET, for the sake of self-defense, is blocked. task manager.

Seriously dude I got mind cis to the highest setting after a week at default setting I am not having no problem like you are having you should read how to configure your cis.

ESET blocks TM and other stuff even if logging is off. But with logging off (as it should be per ESET devs) I don’t see anything about TM being blocked anywhere in ESET. CIS, on the other hand, shows blocking of TM in log and by increasing blocked intrusions count.

I don’t see “On” option. I can only see logs in there. And if HIPS logging is off under Setup → Advanced Setup → HIPS → Log all blocked attempts (as it should be per devs), then no logs about TM are created.

I am very happy for you, but again, two other people confirmed this issue, and I didn’t configure CIS any different than what I had on Windows 8.1 computers and than what I have on a Windows 10 computer. So maybe something changed in Windows 11 Task Manager, as others mentioned. If it’s true, then Comodo devs should have taken that under consideration so that CIS doesn’t constantly notify users about Task Manager.

Happy you found a solution with a different product and while it would be nice to have some log filtering in CIS, I’d rather know than not as would most users I imagine. We’ll see if we get a dev response in due course and see what CIS 2026 brings. Will check back on this topic in a few weeks and then close the topic if you’ve moved on.

Sorry, but I have not moved on yet.

Hence why I said I would check back. Often we get @C.O.M.O.D.O_RT contact at the weekend so we’ll just wait and see. Hopefully they can provide you with a solution and for anyone else with the same issue.

Dear ComodoUser2025, I forgot to say I have Windows 11 Pro (25H2 )
