So far the only problems I have found I when you select the “Firewall” button at the TOP and then select the “Common Tasks” button on the side then go to “View Firewall Events” in field in the center the Firewall Events screen is blank you need to click more to see what is being logged.
Not sure this is a bug but the only way to see Defense + Logs is to select the “Firewall” button at the TOP and then select the “Common Tasks” button on the side then go to “View Firewall Events” in field in the center the Firewall Events screen is blank you need to click more then click Defense + to see what is being logged. So far I have nothing
There are a few problems with the log file
The source IP is being written backwards Ex. 192.168.10.100 is being written 100.10.168.192
The destination IP is being written backwards Ex. 192.168.10.100 is being written 100.10.168.192
The time is not being reported
(I think these first 3 need to be fixed IMHO the next 2 may not be bugs)
Not sure if the application is being reported correctly. It could be because these are all incoming broadcasts
Nothing is being reported by defense +. This could be because there is nothing to report yet.
Here is a sample from the log file
Date/Time : 07-June-2007
Application : System Idle Process

XP home did not recognize the firewall as well. Did a restore point before the first install & restored to original state & took another run at the fw. Is there a system scan function ala 2.4 to learn apps or do you have to go through the popup warning process for each one…Is there a rookie install manual for the new one so far? Will keep slugging away. g3b
I gave Alpha another try on my test snapshot and it doesn’t like Comodo BOClean. I can RT. click on the task bar BOClean icon and nothing happens. When I try re-boot I get the pop up BOC423 doesn’t want to shut down.
I think the safelist is working fine since it did not give me single warning for “Yahoo Messenger”
Not even when it opened FF to chk for updates (Should I be worried or happy?)
But this is not the case for many other applications. Too many HIPS/Firewall pop ups! Which makes me question “is the safelist really workin?”
BDW Memory usage and processor usage is Far Far btr for me than the 2.4 version. And I havnt yet encountered the “freezing pop ups” there were in the 2.4 version.
After a short test here are the first bugs (probably the develop team are aware of them).
It does not log the events
At the window Active connections:
a) we do not have the possibility to short the connections by protocol/source/destination/bytes in/bytes out.
b) terminate connection does not work
I hate the way the password works. It should prevent the user from accessing the guide and not every setting. If we want to take a look at all the settings we will have to type the password 30 times!!! (:AGY) 4. Important A bug in the ports ranges. If we use the buttons to increase the number of the ports CFP adds a point (.) at the thousands. The problem is that if we save this port that exceed the 999th then CFP remembers only the thousands (number that is before the point). It forgets the hundreds, tens and ones.
Examples:
the port 60.310 will be saved as 60 :o
but the port 60310 will be saved as 60310
CFP 3 Alpha 1’s uninstaller does not remove sufficient data/items/material to allow an CFP 3 Alpha 1 install. The Install says a CFP version is already installed. It requires manual intervention to get it to install.
Edit: PS Egemen/Melih, I really like the stand-alone CFP Log Viewer. I think you should create a shortcut for it on the Start Menu. Interestingly enough the Log Viewer remembers its size & position.
Opus Dei, is your post just 2 quotes? I ask, because I suspect you added comments “within” the Quotes… I just can’t make it out properly. Could you edit it please? Thanks.
I think that he quoted his previous post as an answer of my report for the bug with the logs.
On my system CFP sometimes logs the events, and most of the times does not log anything.
If I exit the firewall and restart it it will log for some seconds and then it stops logging! ???
BUT!!! A LOT OF FUNCTIONS ARE UNAVAILABLE…
and all of logs/viewer are no function…
Here is a list:
Summary page, no display IP/MAC information. (compare between version 2.4)
Firewall page, 2 functions not available.
Defense+ page, all working…
Misc, only 3 functions (including “About”) works, others are disabled.
Do some else notice that :
When double click on the system tray ico of Comodo, cann’t open the firewall . Have to right click on the ico and select the “Open”, this does work.
Under “Defense+>Common Tasks>My Blocked Files”–at the end of the explanation there should be “lists.”
2 Same window as above-- “My Registry Groups”–at the end of the explanation there should be “groups.”
I can open it by double-clicking the tray icon. Also if I right-click the tray icon it will open it automatically yet still let me choose one of the items in the right-click list. Weird, huh?
Although I have downloaded the Alpha version I’m not sure I’ll want to risk running this on my PC unless I do a full scale backup (just in case). I’ll probably wait for a few more weeks for the Beta to be released.
At any rate a big THANKS to Melih and the CFP Bunch! (:CLP)
I’m not sure if COMODO is of the habit of posting checksums so user can verify that the downloads were neither altered by any filter enroute nor corrupted.
I have a free hash program that is a windows shell extension, very easy to install and use. The checksums are displayed on a tab on the File Properties window. Thanks to Cody Batt this and some other cool tools are available for download at his site.
