Back to V5

Sorry, now i was to fast, i had make my topic in the wishlist from CIS… can u please move it to the right place?

Done…

Ah, i see.

When comodo hasnt been like i wanted, i made the setting.
I made it anyway, so it has been like i wanted.

Automatic sandbox is useless if you cant run many things in it. Or it is unsafe when you can.
A “restricted” sandbox is like a block.
A real virtualized sandbox would make you sad, because you have to make choices

Wanna know something funny?
The way i use comodo, i have FAR less “work” than with the auto sandbox or clean pc mode.
Actually, i have no work at all.
If thats “Evil”, lawd help us all!

Thanks for that… +1

I use to create a disk image with Acronis before to play with certain software (firewall and antivirus first), as I like to have everything updated. So:

  • HDD image created
  • Installed CF6 on CF5
  • Try to use CF6 for few minutes
  • Restored HDD image

Finally I have to thanks a lot ACRONIS, otherwise I lost all my CF5 settings!!
First day of my life that I’ll not update a software!!

I’ll wait CF7, crossing my finghers (and not just those ones)

Good luck!

Dito here

O

For several months I wrestled with Firewall v6. I also did not like how HIPS acted or the menu to set settings or add apps in the never connect to the internet was so sluggish on my XP SP3 machine.

I went back to V5. Does someone have a direct download to install version: v5.12? I had to start with v5.03 and then gradually make several updates until I was able to get to the last v5 version.

http://www.filehippo.com/download_comodo/changelog/13662/

click file hippo mirror should give you latest 5.12…

@DrHaze, thanks.

But that download was for the full version with other apps.

I did find the one I was looking for that it’s just the stand alone firewall. Here is the thread: https://forums.comodo.com/news-announcements-feedback-cis/comodo-internet-security-5122562492599-released-t88157.0.html

And here is the thread to check the MD5 checksum (which they do match): https://forums.comodo.com/install-setup-configuration-help-cis/comodo-firewall-only-version-512-download-t90722.0.html

I agree that v5 had a much better interface. I liked seeing my active connections and status as soon as i bring up the firewall and that feature is not gone in v6. I’d like to see it make its way back in instead of using killswitch which is too much for just wanting to see one’s active connections. I do however, use the kiosk for testing etc. which I think is a great addition but I would just like to have the old UI back.

Same here. OLD GUI back pls

I disagree, as a cis 5 user, I never used to check which application is actively transmitting and it is now in Killswitch! Even in the widget you have info right under the eye over what bytes goes IN and OUT. I think CIS 6 is like a toy you must take time to play with and discover like Christopher Columbus the many sides of its GUI :).

I agree, CIS 6 feels like a toy,
I prefer CIS 5 which felt like a tool.

It is not a toy, it is a tool which is now much easier to use. The connections info, as far as I’m concerned, is just eye candy and not really useful or necessary for me to know about. When I could see it, I never found any more of a use for it than that. Who cares what safe applications are doing? I certainly don’t.

Hope sincerely you will be heard.

I’m completely disheartened by the trend taken by UI softwares nowadays.
First Windows 8 fisher price UI.
Then CIS 6 kindergarten UI.

You dont miss something, “remove it”.
You want something, “remove everything else”.

But, this is the internet. Not you.

I never claimed it was, I claimed it feels like a toy.

I disagree, I find CIS 5.12 much easier to actually USE

See bold+underlined part.

Many people including me do care about that, well rather I care about what Trusted applications do since I do not trust Comodo to decide and define what is objectively and factually safe or not. I think the Synapse 2.0 “software” from Razer is trusted by Comodo and I would never in my life call that piece of spyware “Safe”.

Sadly I must agree. Comodo has always been above the rest for me (using since v2.0)
Now it feels cluttered, its as slow as snails on strike and its lost it for me.
What a mission to find things (it doesnt fell like a firewall) I loved being able to swap between configurations on the task-bar, and many many other things that I dont feel like typing about 88)
Hope they sort it out while I`m hunting for a new firewall.

Don’t forget Windows XP’s Luna theme - the epitome of fisher price.

Windows 8 is more like paper craft :stuck_out_tongue:

CIS6, to me, comes off as looking like bloatware that’s trying to be sleek and futuristic - the kind of stuff you find weighing down factory default installs of dell/hp/etc computers.

They will change the interface over time as they have said. but since with such changes, all the changes must be translated in all of the languages after you make a release. So you must look in the long run and that’s where egemen is looking. Since comodo relys on the community to translate each language. you get your translation when people find time because they work or have other things to do, live… So any text that changes in a release requires translation again since we are in a release cycle. If it’s an update there are no text changes and the update comes out quickly.
