Back to V5

I like the CIS UI and I’m not against additions to it as long as it remains simple for the average user.

For Windows UIs, I still think the default XP theme was the best yet. I love the two tone blue look of it. Windows 8 is truly Fisher-Price though. They even ruined their own iconic logo.

I can’t wait for XP and its theme to go extinct. The theme is now way over its due date. I can appreciate changes in UI style.

Well Gifford…If you don’t like CIS 6 that much you you could always let me test that star group build you have Access too.I would actually put it too use instead of calling cis 6 in general bloatware etc…

;D

DrHaze, just FYI, members of the Star Group are not allowed to provide any information about new builds they are given, or even whether there is a new build available. This is simply the policy they must follow. Thus, inquiring about the builds will not be fruitful.

Also, as is mentioned here, Star Group members are chosen for a multitude of reasons, but is strictly invite only. Also, just so you know, trying to get information out of those who are already part of the group does not help in your chances of joining it in the future.

Is this topic being watched actually?
I am curious to know what the CIS policy will be.
Since when is it so difficult to make a extra gui?
Simple, functional, and better than last version and not slowingdown …This looks like a new managers job who has a new hobby.

Ah yes. But I think the prize goes to Microsoft Bob the best childlike interface.

Hi biteater,

By who?

I am curious to know what the CIS policy will be.
About what?
Since when is it so difficult to make a extra gui?
Did someone say it is?
Simple, functional, and better than last version and not slowingdown .
IMO V6 has a much better base to build onto than previous versions and definitely no slowdowns here.
This looks like a new managers job who has a new hobby.
We all need a hobby!

Thanks. So,There will be improvement afterall. LOL

Maybe not overnight but I can see improvements happening sometime in the future.

Thank you.

I will take this one step further.
Any member discovered to be harassing a Star Group member for information, directly or indirectly, will find themselves post banned for a period to be determined.
Do you understand that, Drhaze? You will not become a Star Group member now or near future.

This was not meant as harassment i just found it hard to believe that someone who was granted such a privilege would say things like that about Comodo flat out. I just felt it was rather insulting and i just reacted.
It’ just didn’t seem to make sense…
I more than understand I won’t be in the Star group…
My comment was not to get information as i respect the intellectual properties of Comodo…

I can’t see that he said anything about Comodo but rather the specific version 6 of Comodo Internet Security.

Personally I agree with what he says (if he is talking about the user interface) and I think he is bringing forth a good point.

And even though he is in the Star Group I think he should be able to have his own opinions even if they would be negative, personally I categorize his post as criticism.

comodo v5 and v6 cannot be compared in any way because v6 is a totally fresh and new approach.Ive noticed many forum members making comparisons and it simply cannot be done.

Please explain to me why it can not be done? Why can I not compare the way CIS 5 does something to the way CIS 6 does it?

You can compare almost anything to anything, I can compare a piece of Cheese to a cat, nothing stands in my way of comparing those two though it would result in detailing a lot of differences which means that they aren’t very much like each other.

Comparison is ridiculous or you take away the uniqueness of anything new or innovative.I would not compare a light aircraft to the antonov 225…there is no comparison and you need to be able to embrace anything which is new and harness it.

The future of this product like anything else in life is going to come to a standstill if we the end user are not prepared to embrace the new version and use and judge it on its OWN merits instead of comparing it to older versions.
Your statement has already taken away the unique and innovative features which have come with version 6.

Yes admittedly when i first installed the new version my first reaction was “god how do i use this” but in time i have gotten used to it and i remember when v5 came out after using v4 and it was exactly the same thing.
So lets improve v6 and forget about comparing it to products that have been and gone and wait for changes in this version. ;D

Before anything else I just want to ask, what is your definition of “compare”

Basically in this case I see compare as just noting what the differences are, nothing more. Just what are the differences and how do they work differently in the same situations and different situations, this could be useful in for example learning how the suit works and where it works the same as CIS 5 and where it works differently than CIS 5. It has nothing to do about preventing the evolution of something.

For example if I were to compare a blue card to a red card, the results written down would be “the red card is red unlike the blue card which is blue”, just simple as that.

Is my definition of comparison, in this situation, completely fudged up?

For me, when I installed v6 after having left Comodo in the 5.3 days, my first impression was that it was fantastic and much easier to use than before. It certainly was far more silent which I was very impressed with. I would never want to go back to any previous version. I didn’t really have any problems finding the settings I wanted to see with the only exception being the scheduled scans.

Sounds like upgonedated

With regard to functionality, I can see no problems comparing features in CIS 6, that have not changed significantly, with those of earlier counterparts. However, new features should be judged by their own standing.

As far as the UI is concerned, it’s always going to be an emotive topic, with some loving and some hating the change. However, there’s certainly nothing wrong with people expressing their opinions, regardless of whether those opinions are based on earlier versions of CIS or something else entirely.

You missed the development after 5.3, and before v6 where makers of games got added to the TVL (the main reason you left CIS at 5.3). Even in CIS > v5.3 you would have like it. That has nothing to do with the GUI.

The current GUI divides the community in two parties: the mainstream users will like it because it does not represent any of the underlying complexity where the advanced users dislike it because things are buried too deep and/or not showing in the main screen.

Comodo said it will make changes after having seen the storm of protest oit brought amoung the advanced user (an important group for a tool like CIS). It is my best guess these changes will come somewhere this spring as it makes sense for Comodo to focus on fixing important bugs first in the first period after the release of v6.
