You guys really recommend using Revo Uninstaller?!
How simple would it be for Comodo to write a utility that removes all Comodo related files and registry keys? Every other antivirus and firewall I have used has their utilities.
Manually going through the registry and removing the hundreds of Comodo related entries (do you really need all that registry stuff?) gets REALLY old when you are doing it for the third time.
Please make a utility. All of these “what to do if you cannot uninstall” topics with all these steps could be reduced to “Download our uninstaller tool here”.
In the meantime, what about a simple reg file that can be double-clicked to remove all known Comodo registry entries? That is the biggest pain. Deleteing a few directories is no problem, but the registry is a killer to spend hours F3ing to the next Comodo key and deleting it. You guys know what keys it creates so you have the info to easily make a reg file.
Be aware that the Uninstall Tool mentioned above is NOT officially supported by Comodo (unlike most other security vendors who do have an officially supported tool for their products). It was written by some of the Comodo Forum Mods.
I have used that in the past with differing success (because it is not for the most recent versions). In at least 2 cases I had to go through the registry manually. The main problem requiring registry editing was when you want to reinstall Comodo after using the tool. Comodo files are gone, but something in the registry makes the installer fail with a message like “already installed” or similar (I can’t remember the exact wording) so if you want Comodo installed again you need to spend the time going through the registry hunting for Comodo entries. That is until now with this Mod batch file I will happily “risk” running next time.
I’ve used Revo Uninstaller in the past to ensure the registry was clean of all Comodo entries before reinstalling.
Note, as with any registry editor, use with caution.
