Which Product to develop next?

Time ago I suggested two enachements in few threads about comodo whitelist functionality in its upcoming products.

Re: HIPS in the upcoming CPF

Something like this is already there Secunia Software Inspector
This will work well as a standalone app or as a comodo whitelist enhancement.

Whitelist based approach is a overlooked field, enhancements of the plain whitelist approach are yer to come…

And what about this:

A standized hips configuration file format to help user to configure hips and evaluate an application security…

Just wondering whether all development of future products now no longer includes windows 2000? I know that the Firewall 3.0 won’t support or run on Win 2k…just wondering if all the rest of the programs that Comodo make are going that way?

Three systems (Win2000, WinXP and WinVista) to provide is too complex.

Not necessarily.
Wherever we can accomodate (without costing too much time and effort) we will make our products as compatible as possible with the older versions. However, in certain scenerios supporting an older OS means, re-writing a good chunk of the product. And sometimes decisions are made to not to support older versions because of that.

Does the fact that Vista is apparently such a mess… security wise… that this will give XP more life time and future longevity?? (:KWL)

Thank you for the response Melih.

I’m so excited about the Comodo-Antivir! If it’s ready for the final release, I’ll get it immediately.
Hang in there!

Maybe a big ask but…I would be very interested in a COMODO Browser, which could integrate maybe, anti-phishing, anti-trojan, anti-spyware etc…

OK maybe it’s just a dream…but you don’t get without asking :BNC

Melih,
I have not scanned all messages here on the Comodo Forum, but would like to congratulate and Thank You and the Moderators for the lack of SPAM that usually sneaks in many Forums.

In one Forum I post you never know when SPAM will hit? I had suggested that they implement a form of Captcha file for registering and posting but nothing has been implemented yet.
I feel uncomfortable recommending the software to someone who has young teens, not because of the product but knowing the teen will check out the Forum for help.

The product "more a SERVICE" I would like to see Comodo provide, is an Anti spam and Anti malware Tool for various Forums regardless of what type of software is being used, and Also for bloggers (how many are Bloggers are there?) that get spammed replies/links.
If you can this Tool should also be able to scan user lists and delete home pages that are spam.

For the service possibly the Forum / Blog could place a Comodo Banner some where on its page linking back to the Security Programs.

After installing the firewall, antivirus and BoClean recently, I think it would be a good idea to develop an optional control centre that reports the status of all the Comodo applications installed and allows updates to be downloaded in one operation. In this way it would resemble an Internet Security Suite, yet retain the individual applications for the users preferred setup.
Also. I noticed that the firewall does not seem to recognize the other Comodo applications.

Just dreaming… But wouldn’t it be nice to have an save Systemarea or Browser? I mean: some kind of SandBox. I’m waiting for my dream becomes true…
:THNK
PS: Hang in the Antivir!
(:WAV)

if you look at the roadmap ,you can see the sandboxing is there
so your dreams will come true

My deepest wish: The current line of products, especially Comodo Firewall, and Antivirus for Windows (XP) 64-bit versions…In fact, I am amazed how many companies (Canon etc) just jump from XP32-SP2 to Vista, without considering the users of the 64-bits OS’ses. So, please…I want Comodo!!!

hmm, what about something like Comodo AntiVulgarity? Program which scans all incoming packets and remove all vulgar words. ;D

But more interesting (and useful) will be something like quarantine. Sometimes I meet file, when I’m not sure if it is safe. So I run him in quarantine, which isolates him completely from system (writing to registry, disk, memory of other programs etc.) and log what that file will do. Then I look at log and for example I will see that file attempted to format disk or write to registry, delete registry, modify files, modify memory of other programs… But quarantine of course blocked this.
So in that case, it would be safe to run agressive virus for example, but that virus can’t do anything (thanks to quarantine).
I don’t know if it is possible (more likely, I don’t know if it is relative “easy” realisable), but it’s interesting, isn’t it?

Sandpitting? Watch this space …

Yes sandpitting. Thx I don’t knew, that is named sandpitting, now I know that. But I knew something like that exists and if Comodo will develop freeware sandpitting software with user friendly envirnoment, it will be good (at least better than that browser :D)

A drive image program would be useful. By this I mean an enhanced Backup, a mirror of your HDD stored on the same HDD - very useful when trying out software. You can easily revert to the image if things go wrong.

An anti-virus program that can compare with the current leaders of the AV pack. Until then - sorry - I won’t use CAVS!

Keep watching these forums landsker - you will get your wish before long I think.
