Which PlugIns would you like?

Quote from: pandlouk on February 07, 2007, 05:45:39 PM Here are the plug-ins for CFP that I think most of users would like:
  1. Plugin for IP blocking. Something like the opensource peerguardian or a similar fast and lite ipblocker

I hear ya, pandlouk, and I agree that IP blocking would be a welcome feature.

jjjacq:
Different users have differing needs, eh?
For many people, creating myriad rules in order to block IPs one-at-a-time would be an entirely unacceptable chore. Also, for people who depend on the services of others to maintain/update/distribute shared blocklists, the ability interact with the “plugin” by importing/exporting preexisting blocklists would be essential.

will comodo firewall some time have the feature where you can choose either a simple mode or advanced mode? like sunbelt kerio that offers a non pop-up opinion for the non computer savvy and one with the pop-ups are for those who are computer savvy? also i have seen comodo has been incompatible with cyberhawk, will that ever be fixed?

btw, nice work so far. i love comodo firewall and love how the antivirus is coming a long. for the antivirus i have another question and thats will it ever have the p2p shield like avast offers? also i like boclean but i was hoping there was better spyware detection and although comodo antivirus has that. will there also ever be a stand alone antispyware like spyware doctor, counterspy or spy sweeper?

one more thing, you have a spam filter, i was wondering if it will ever be compatible with mozilla thunderbird? and maybe will your ivault ever end up a lot like roboform with compatibility with firefox?

the final thing is, i love VEngine but i was wondering if you were ever planning on making a toolbar like site advisor, trend protect or the crawler security bar?

sorry for all the questions but i really love your products and would prefer i be able to get them all from you than have to go to all different sites trying to fill my needs. nice work and plz keep it up.

Matt, please note this thread is for commenting/suggesting on plugins for the Firewall. As such, every poster should stay on topic with the thread title. I’m sure you’ll get better answers if you post in the appropriate boards/threads, considering how diverse your questions are.

sorry about that

No problem. It’s common “rule” in any forum

Let’s not get carried away here. Having a cv in building/upgrading and computers and testing software I am pleasantly surprised to see a firewall that actually gives the user intelligent information when deciding whether to allow certain programs or files to access the internet. There are always aspects we (as users) would like to see added but the programmers know better than we do. I just want the program to do what it says on the tin and Comodo does - better than ZA which I have used since it’s early days. The problem with ZA was always that it never gave enough more than the programs name when asking if you wanted to allow it. The more I use Comodo (1 week and counting), the more I like it! (R)

for all of these, i like the IP blocker best, i also vote for whois and anti-dialer
the rest seems to overlap with anti-spyware soft → not good.
good idea if users can build plugins for comodo, esp the skin like other products, esp browser products.

hi,
after all, plugin is wat u plug it in in ur free decision.
IMO, IP Blocker is a MUST-HAVE.
any other kind of block including cookies, ads, popups… r MUSN’T-HAVE if u dun wan a firewall become a ‘stupid versatile bloat’.
sandbox and 1-click lock comp shouldn’t be included.
1-click lock comp should be part of Comodo parental control ;D

Hmmmm…
Let’s see…
We take a perfectly good firewall, and ad a bunch of bloatware to it
so it takes twice as long to load, installation becomes a nightmare, and the product
is buggy as h3ll…oh wait, that has been done. They call it ZONEALARM.

Please, lets not ruin Comodo as well. They already have products for the items listed.
However, on a personal note, I did vote for skins (R)

There you have it, you want plug-ins. Remember, when installing, none of this comes with it. You then add what you want, and IF you want.

i used to use Zonealarm for a long time from 4.0 to 6.0 and for that i can remember Zonealarm did not have plugins?

I think I read a post from Melih saying that v3 will be skinnable…

I don’t care what the votes say, I want a popup blocker! Please make one, the only thing I liked about norton security suite was the pop up blocker, and I hope you guys can make a ■■■■ good one, yes I am an IE user, that’s all I use, I don’t want to use anyother ones even though I know they are good.

For IP Blocker you mean something that can replace, for example, PeerGuardian2? So yes, I want it!

Hye,
i am prandi63 and my vote goes for :

1-2-6-7-8

and i think it is good if these plugin will be a choise form when you are installing program but if small .exe will come separately it is fine also…
I am waiting for cf 3 in italian…

Cookies,Referrers,Ads Blocker
IP Blocker
Skin
Whois
PopUp Blocker

I would prefer the ones that can be Turned ON/OFF be included in the program.
Others be just Addons.

Hi, I voted for the cookie control and the IP blocker, but it would be nice to have a nework Intrussion prevention sistem -with signatures and all-. Just a thought. :■■■■

Hi, even though I already voted, my favourite plugin was not on the list, I would love Comodo to be able to handle an IDS/IPS protection system, based on rules (like Snort) and so take some undesired traffic away long before it reaches the doors of my pc.
Could this be posible???

Hi,

At top priority i would like to see asap : an IP BLOCKER because sometimes i need it
Then i would like to Comodo handle IDS/IPS and after that i will appreciate Whois, DNS Resolution.
