Which PlugIns would you like?

Stay alive and you will notice it

I will spend my money at my bookmaker, that they tell us in may  just guessing…but I hope I win ;D

I think they now work ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  the 3.0 version, but plugins would really be nice to see in the firewall in the future.

I started browsing with 19.2 Kbps modems

ad-blocking is merely a function of firewall, same is about referer, etc.
It is easily done with browser.
It is especially so, since that filtering may corrupt web-site - and how will user know ?

So whether CPF would do it, i hope it will be low priority task, perhaps some elementary function for marketing hype and taking hour or two to implement.

What is DNS resolution ?

If make a swiss knife out of CPF, i’d prefer easy spam reporting, look at e-mail, track its path and forward with customised template to abuse [ at ] , postmaster [ at ] etc contacts for servers, the spam message went through.

One more plugin - is NAT traversal.
There is two protocols, allowing outside port opening: UPnP and ZeroConf draft. Many modern routers, even when chained, can respect those commands.
There are also UDP-based TCP emulating networks like Hamachi and gg-game.com
Afair there was also an ā€œBest practivesā€ RFC recently published.

To modify settings for my VoIP or P2P or online game, slloeing them to automagically obtainsome virtual adapter with outside IP/port could be a unique feature in all the firewalls.

More: traffic counter and categorizer.
I’d like to be able to import rules from some online file (and let Firewall periodically re-check it) with some arbitrary format (external script ? regexps?) so that Firewall would show me totals of several traffic groups (for example one ISP i used had free, cheap and expensive internet zones).
It would be nice if menu over tray icon allowed me to not only block all traffic (see Panic button in wishlist) but also block any of those groups.
And let there be pop-ups, so i could make comodo alert me if, for example,

  1. ā€œexpensveā€ traffic run more than 1Mb/hour
  2. SMTP outgoing traffic runs more than 10Mb/5 minute - look like SPAM trojan inside.
  3. Let me see how many downstream traffic i wast when uploading large files, be it FTP or HTTP or some P2P
  4. Let me enter some URL and now how expensive it would be to me to conect to it. Which group certain server/service falls under. Somehow might be related to the next plugin idea.

Even more: smart traceroute.
I wish i could overlook which is the path to the site, used by Opera currently.
It is not what usual ICMP traceroute does, it is not relevant when traffice is differentiated by port, for example.
So, if posisble, it would be like to hijack any running apps to trace it’s certain streams to certain services on certains servers.
If not - then just open list of current network data streams - and send treaceroute over certain local and remote ip/port’s. http://pwhois.org/

I consider these to be the most important of those listed:

IP Blocker
HTTP Logs
DNS Resolution
Whois

Ad and pop-up blocking are well catered for by numerous applications, although I can see why some may prefer an ā€˜all in one solution’.

In addition to the Whois, a Trace Route function would be nice, as would a Netstat feature.

If Plugin will be a feature implemeted in 3.0 hopefully it is :ā– ā– ā– ā–

Are there any Comodo users here able to develop a plugin? and be very deticated to it? with constant updates etc :BNC

Yes, that would be nice features.

I’m sorry to disagree, but pluggins? :o

1. Plugin for Controlling the cookies, the referrer, and the advertisments on the pages
Opera 88)
2. Plugin for IP blocking. Something like the opensource peerguardian or a similar fast and lite ipblocker
Maybe, but as of now, no ;D
3. Plugin for changing the visual interface of CFP
For what? ???
4. Plugin for http logging
I need help to understand what this is :-[
5. Plugin for DNS resolution of the internet adresses.
I thought it was resolved ???
6. Plugin for Parent controlling (for blocking sex sites, warez, etc.)
Interesting
7. Plugin for finding who is the attacker.
To do what? :-\
8. Plugin for controlling the dialup number. An Antidialer feature
CPF HIPS 88)
9. Plugin for blocking popups
Opera 88)

Optional, ok, fine, each chooses what he wants. But make it a different download altogether, CPFa and CPFb. Leaving the FW open for pluggins makes me uneasy. Can you explain why this shouldn’t be a concern?
Or in a separate program altogether. This is not what a FW should be doing IMO. Hey, it could even tweak Windows :stuck_out_tongue:

Please consider these thoughts. I like the FW, HIPS and Sandbox i get, the latter i even want to use for sure, but all this!?

Don’t take me wrong. This is my opinion, and i respect yours.

(S) so don’t you kill it…

Not everybody use Opera

Not everybody have the same taste. I am sure all WinAmp-users don’t use the same skin. I like the GUI of the firewall, but I know people that don’t like it.

It would be nice to do a quick look up about the attacker, so you don’t need to use another program just to do a whois on the ip-address. Whois in the firewall would be a nice feature IMHO.

Hi someone,

1&9. I know that Opera can resolve all this. In fact is my no1 browser. But others that use IE cannot control almost any of these.

  1. This can be extremely handy. For the time being completely blocking an IP is quite difficult, since you have to create 2 new network rules.

  2. Skins for CFP

  3. It logs every http request that starts from your pc.

  4. No, this will serve as a dns server for the places that you already have visited.

  5. I agree. this one will help the parent controlling the navigation of their minor childs and protect them from bad surprises.

  6. A whois feature. A lots of members have asked for this

  7. I know, but this will control that the other users will not modify these settings.

Because the plugins will be digitally certified by Comodo. If not CFP will not accept any of them.

OK, i think i’m more comfortable, thanks for the clarifications.
Note that i won’t be using none of this, and i still think it should be separate. Comodo will have complaints for resource usage i’m afraid. From the same people asking this.
:ā– ā– ā– ā–

You are welcome. That is why they should be made only as add-ons. I’d hate to see CFP becoming a bloated application.

Hey, people, don’t let my comments stop you from participating in this thread.
Sometimes i’m just an idiot, that’s all.

Don’t let me stop you from saying what pluggins you want! Comodo is for everyone, even me!

:ā– ā– ā– ā–

Hello people, because helping, I leave my aid here, of friends of other forums, that have firewall:

  • To improve the icon of systemtray, to the style zonealarm is sufficient to me.

  • To incorporate an option that allows you to visualize the alert in first plane although you have a program or a game to complete screen.

  • To put an option at the time of creating a rule for the program, being able to put that it is had or not in account the layer of security of the Monitor of Network at the moment of which that program accedes to Internet. That is to say, if I put to a program that allows ā€œAny activity himā€ in Internet, that is an option so that reglasd does not consider the Monitor of network, because at the moment although you allow any activity him, soon happens through the layer of the Monitor of network and there sometimes it blocks things to you that you do not want, and in games or programs where you do not know exactly what it must open, it bothers a little.

Without nothing else which to say… so long…
(:WAV)
God Dag and Saellvertu! (:KWL)

I didn’t mean it like that soyabeaner. Just that i hate if i influence anybody not to do something, when i’m not sure of anything. The replies stoped, and i’m no obstacle.

I hope you understand why i said it…

I think he was probably just joking with you, Someone. Since he found a way to use the Search feature, he’s very full of himself… ;D

LM

Oh, it goes along with that Avatar giving us the finger? 8)

Add-on I would like to see is a ā€œgoogle searchā€ option with a right click on the mouse. This way we can search google for info about warning messages.

Also. I still would like an add-on for an internet lock feature similar to what zone alarm has.

I don’t understand this one. I have no trouble blocking any IP with the firewall as it is right now.

On the other hand, DNS resolution and whois would be handy. It would save me from switching to another OS and using nslookup of dig.

2,4,5,6

Ok, ok, i voted.

IP blocking, http logging, DNS resolution, Parent control, Whois. I won’t use all, but i revised and think these can be usefull. Specially being optional, it only does good. The others imo no.

As a note, or Q, i recently tried OA FW, and it does some neat tricks, like displaying the IP’s nationality using national flags. This is way cool. Where does this fit in? WhoIs, or something that should be built in?

Pandlouk, thank you for the clarifications again, Bluesman you also helped (don’t agree on the GUI though).

Also, i stand by Opera again. Comodo could very well recomend Firefox or Opera, since these solve cookies and pop-ups and whatnot…
But i’m all for choices, so if poor IE users need that, go ahead

IP Blocker
HTTP Logs
DNS Resolution
Whois

I would be very pleased to see the above features. I dont think it would be in Comodo’s best interest to include an ad blocker , but power users could just use the IP blocker for that.

Protocol blocking would also be very interesting, adding the ability to disable HTTP, FTP, SSL or bittorrent traffic, regardless of what port is used.
