Is this that different from various “think tank” reviews of MS Products or the various ISO corruption for OOXML? I’m still not seeing this as any different than “Standard Industry Practice”. I sure don’t like it, but really - a random review site? Ads that promote a particular product? Biased reviews (anyone ever read PCWorld etc?)?
This isn’t even news…
And it’s not like they aren’t actually providing a service of support for the product. I mean, has anyone investigated the free phone support after purchase? Does it work/help? Do they actually answer?
And I still think this has next to nothing to do with Comodo. No users are getting ripped off here, the firewall isn’t installing spyware, and if you actually get the support, you got what you paid for.
No one wants to test it out - all we can do is speculate at this point.
i thought they were called “Competitors” not “new members” hehe… insulting our user’s intelligence by these pathetic and desperate acts will only help Comodo as the only open and frank Security Authority that is on users side!
that wasn’t for you Cajun Tek… its the single posters… (people register, make stupid statements and leave… )… (eg: a user called Kebab…or other trolls like him…)
Hey Rednose, you asked me to believe you, that they were NOT that hard to find, and I did…
So what happened, where are they?? ???
I thought you were going to help us all out and use your great creds to get us the real deal so this can be settled once and for all!
I am losing trust in you, buddy.
Haha, maybe you should think about changing your id from Rednose to PinocchioNose!
Why I need to do that, pal?
I believe melih and the other dude.
YOU the one whose stomach is all tied up in knots over this, and the existence of a forum to me is no proof that they are “NOT that hard to find”.
You the man with the inside scoop and the ax to grind and the love of truth and justice.
Go ahead, bust a move pal!

But, aside from the shots from some of the obvious trolls, it looks as though PCSecurityShield’s main problems aren’t with the quality of their products, but with their aggressive (some would say “scummy”) advertising and marketing practices. Mehil, I hope you can see that many here are big fans and users of Comodo, and are just expressing some concern, based on the reputation of PCSecurityScan.
As far as I can tell, there is no longer a misleading scan on their website, and many of their products seem “legitimate”, in that they are real security products. In fact, their association with Kaspersky and F-Secure indicates that some main-stream security companies have approved of this type of marketing by PCSecurityShield…or have decided that it isn’t their issue.
Since Comodo’s name isn’t used on their products it is probably even more of a non-issue. But, you hate to see companies you like and trust be involved with those on the seamier side of PC/Internet security. I hope (and trust) you and your staff will keep an eye on PCSecurityShield moving forward.
Phew, what a relief!!
Bro, I can’t you tell how much my mind is at ease now that I have read your professional evaluation!
I do enjoy a good snooze, and was worried this thing was going to keep me awake at night…
How about another t— in the punchbowl, since we are exploring the 3rd party resale-support. The Shield advertises online support in their ads, but as most of you know, supporting CFP is not a simple task, even with the expertise of all the advanced users, mods, Comodo staff here. Is The Shield on their own, advising their users independently, perhaps erroneously? Uninformed support to primary security software is potentially dangerous to your system. Or has Comodo agreed to support them? Since most of the CFP support comes from the mods and users, few (none?) of whom seem to be in the mood to provide free support to The Shield, is this likely to give Comodo another black eye when the third party version of their software causes user problems? Or can we expect an influx, covert or overt? I expect we should just tell them to go back to PC Shield with their silly problems if any showed up here. Tell us the rest of the plan, Comodo-support or isolation with damage control or ? ???
I want Comodo to Grow and Prosper and of most of all provide the BEST Security Software they can, and always improve on it.
This thread does have me hoping that it will be resolved soon!
But I wonder how many that have such negative remarks here about the past of the one company and now directly trying to tie in, not the current actions of the company but the past actions of the company with Comodo. Know one knows what the future will bring, and if negative, Melih will respond with what is necessary to keep the Name " Comodo " synonymous with One of the Top Security Companies and Leading Security Software !
(:AGL)
The phone support issue is questionable unless they relay Comodo Support via phone ? ? ?
But the reason for this post is to wonder how many of those thatholler load and clear about those that have been caught serving up malware should be avoided and those that are associated with them should be avoided.
How many of the above use Google and don’t think twice?
DoubleClick has been associated with malware for quite a while. For over a year I could not watch videos on FoxNews.com because Spyware Blaster blocked several maybe a dozen different DoubleClick sites (It is now working with what looks like a new video player).
Double Click we know Did NOT have a reputation of blocking malware for quite a few years, and are now just starting to do it because the ads they supplied were caught!
Google is purchasing DoubleClick, and what information will cookies now be used for by DoubleClick and Google ! ? !
And Google themselves are not without those adsense ads leading to malware!
Here are a couple links that reveal some of the things that are happening, more probably could have been found.
Since those posting are so staunch in there comments and about not dealing with companies associated with malware etc, even if it was from years past, I expect them to immediately and under all circumstances not use Google for searching, Google mail, Google Desktop, etc anything Google
:THNK
I hope this thread gets closed soon, with Melih keeping us posted, when new information comes available.
Although history is to be learned from, current events should guide us on what we do and say, more than the past.
The problem isn’t the past of the company… It’s the present of that company’s advertising practices. I hope Comodo cancels this and does not become associated with this type of company.
Boy, this thread certainly died. Guess the support plan will remain a mystery. ??? I also must have missed Comodo’s public announcement of their successful teaming with PCSecurityScan that explained all this so we wouldn’t be surprised. Oh well; on to the next problem!
Apparently Melih doesn’t want to answer even his own Mods. I must say that I am disapointed in him ! Untill a few days ago I thought Melih was a businessman AND an idealist, but it seems he is just only a businessman after all :-\
