I’d like to know this too actually.
If you already have something that does the same thing that D+ does then you don’t need D+. And in that case you probably would only install the firewall since the latest update doesn’t play nice. I personally prefer D+ to other solutions, so I didn’t mind removing Ad-Aware (which I only use for manual scans anyway, no shield…etc) to get my computer operable again.
The bad thing about not updating to 3.8 is that there may be a fix for 3.5 firewall but you can check that in the release notes.
If you just need the firewall and like your other software then i’d suggest you not install the D+, imo…at least until they fix this…

Just disable the AV until you do a clean install. You may then re-enable the AV. Leaving them active during the install seems to be causing some issues with this release.
Just my $.02 worth.
This does not work, I just tried it.
So yea I think I’ll give it a day…besides I have to help parents move. If anyone else does have time to upgrade please post results so that rest of us know, if this latest update resolves the issues that 3.8 D+ brings. Thanks.

The latest update does not solve the problem.
Could we expect a hotfix in the near future, or is this it ftm?
Well I updated CFP since release notes had the fix for the Ad-Aware that I was using.
Just finished installing Ad-Aware AE and things functioning properly. I don’t use the Ad-Live thing so I didn’t install that part of it, but I hadn’t installed it before either. Seems as if the new update fixed the problem i was seeing.

Neither Ad-Aware or Nod32 is running for me unless I disable Defense+.
I’ll repeat myself: Can we expect a update soon?
Comodo has known about these major problems for almost a month now and still supplies this ■■■■■■ update. Why?[b]
Just got updates automatically few days ago and rebooted pc this morning and updates took effect. I spend 6 hours to find out the problem. I had no idea about that firewall could cause such a major issues. This stupidity from Comodo cost me atleast salary of a day, so thanks a lot… >:(
dear comodo please tell us about problem if you don’t like to solve the problem tell us uninstall the program
please
I have gone back to version 3.5 for now. Hopefully there’ll be a fix in the near future
Just wanted to put in my two cents worth. I tried to just replace Comodo after the problem occurred, but for now at least, I am stuck with Windows Xp 64-bit, and not many firewalls support it. The problem, by the way, was that after updating Comodo Firewall Pro, it stopped working completely (fortunately no other software was affected). After reading through several pages of testimonies on this forum, I tried disabling my aintivirus, which was Nod32, and Then not only un-installing Comodo, but re-installing from the original version that I had fortunately saved in a folder, version “CFP_Setup_3.0.25.378_XP_Vista_x64.exe”. But I get slightly ahead of myself. I also, after disabling my Nod32 antirivirus, disabled the “defense+” option in Comodo. Then I restarted Windows, again disabled Nod32, re-installed Comodo using the “CFP_Setup_3.0.25.378_XP_Vista_x64.exe” version, and then again restarted Windows. Everything worked pefectly! Then I re-enabled the “defense+” option back to “safe mode”, where it had been originally, and Then re-enabled my Nod32 antivirus. Everything works great!! I am so relieved, because prior to coming on this forum I had tried at least ten other methods, from "clean un-install/re-install, to “revert to earlier version”, but Nothing Worked until I did it exactly as I just described! So you see, it is not just an “Avast problem”, or “AVG problem” either, but apparently Any antivirus that you have running, along with some malfunction in the “defense plus” mechanism in Comodo, that is causing the difficulties here. Good Luck!
Just be aware that there are no longer AV database updates on 3.5.
The problem is not in 3.0.25.378. BTW that is an old version. We are here reporting problems that originated when CIS V. 3.5.xxxxx.439 was updated to CIS 3.8.xxxxx471 and then to 3.8.xxxx.477. These two CIS 3.8 versions have problems with D + and different antimalwares, and does not matter how you install them, they do not run in Vista or XP. Do not get me wrong I am glad you got yours running, but have you try CIS 3.8 ? If you have Ad Aware, Spy Sweeper, SuperAntispyware, Avast, ESET Nod32, Avira, or some kind of combination of those AV and antispywares you will have a 50/50 chance to run into problems with CFP D+ activated. It does not matter how it is installed.
I have XP Pro Sp3 and I use Avast, and Spy Sweeper. CIS 3.8.xxxx.471 and 477 (just firewall and proactive defence) did not want to run in my system. Yes, if I deactivate D+ or uninstall SS, CFP 3.8 will play along with Avast pretty good. I just hope that the next updated program is compatible with SS, so that I can move from V. 3.5 to the next.
Hey dev´what about it.
Well - the Comodo X64 bug bit me also. I have had “CFP_Setup_English_2.4.18.184” installed for some time will all applicable updates until February 2009. I had to do a system restore because nothing would work (very limited exe file functionality). Most items in the system tray were gone (did not start). I finally figured out it was Comodo. I went to the site tonight (3-17-2009) and downloaded the latest X64 “CIS_Setup_3.8.65951.477_XP_Vista_x64” and installed. Same problem. I tried going all they way to “disable” on everything Comodo. No joy.
Here’s what I notice. When Comodo is in the “non functional” state, when I log on my PC I already know if it is going to work or not work. How? By the logon. When non-functional I can’t type in the password box. I have to either click in it (so the cursor is there) or to get the cursor there. The shows two icons for the logon by the way! I’ve tried both metods - tabbing to the “other” logon and clicking on the original logon. Neither works.
I do have Avast! installed and never uninstalled. This was a bitch - I even went so far as to buy another hard drive and clone my drive to be able to mess with it and be somewhat safe in case I really ■■■■■■■ up.
So - tonight after downloading the very latest version and uninstalling - reinstalling fresh with the same result and letting it update - I’m now on the Vista firewall (built-in). I’m now shopping for a good firewall that works with X64 Vista. Any suggestions?
It was a good run while it lasted…
