I really miss CTM
Where is the stupid Windows 8 restore capability? :embarassed:
When will we see the resurrection of the real snapshot technology? ???

Hi Tech,
Have a read here:- How to create a Windows system image in Windows 7 and Windows 8
It’s like a lot of useful stuff in 8 - It’s hidden !!! >:(
It’s a system backup and restore… Where is the technology that people were saying here in forums: “CTM will wait for Windows 8 features…”
It’s NOT a SNAPSHOT technology…
It’s not there. This has been known for quite some time. Surely you were aware of this… This was when the development of CTM resumed.
Hi Tech,
My mistake 88) it sounded more of a question that you where unable to find the " restore " screen/settings
Yes I agree there’s no ‘snapshot technology’ built into 8 and am eagerly awaiting a release of CTM 3 beta as I took the plunge and payed for the 8 Pro upgrade :o
Regards
Maybe I have read here also, but I did not remember. Sorry.
Dolphin66, no problems.
U can create custom reset points for Windows 8…
Here read this:
http://www.guidingtech.com/10337/create-custom-refresh-points-windows-8/
If you change destination folder, you can create several reset points to use. It a little slow, just as an imaging backup, but it gets the job done.
Even with Windows restore, I can’t imagine why there are only two companies that offer a rollback to a snapshot like CTM and RollBackRX (not imaging). Such an invaluable option I would not live without, and only two companies offer it? Amazing.
Not two - Sysrestore offers snapshot tech as well. Though it is not so mature as the first two.
Yes, it doesn’t seem to be in the same league with RBRx and CTM. It does have one thing in common with CMT–it seems to have more than a normal amount of problems. Thus, for me, not making it a third viable option. At least at this time.
Zzzzzz… In the speed era, man, we need to be patient…
SysRestore Pro is being gave away for free in a limited time period.
- How does it work? Snapshots?
- Is it virus free? (http://www.techsupportalert.com/content/get-sysrestore-pro-free-normally-49.htm)
- Is it compatible with other programs using MBR (like TrueCrypt)?
I cannot get that much support from them. Poor signal.
With SysRestore you cannot switch back and forth in time as in with CTM and RX. If you restore an older snapshot all subsequent snapshots will be gone. This renders it pretty useless for my purposes. I helped the developer out with English translation on their site but haven’t tried this new version yet. I doubt that the new version will allow the user to move back and forth in time. The developer himself has stated at Wilders that this is how their software works: Once you revert all later snapshots will be gone. For me, this is no good.
And of course, I’m one of the multitude who are eagerly awaiting for the CTM3 beta…
Hi, guys…
Check on Post#36 on the link to see Xia’s description of how SysRestore works. Sysrestore by Xia Software (new snapshot/backup program?) | Page 2 | Wilders Security Forums
Good work in helping Xia to polish English descriptions on his website, “Cyberman”
:-TU
Here is my personal trial with SysRestorePro : https://forums.comodo.com/other-security-products/sysrestore-by-xia-software-new-disk-snapshot-program-t85112.0.html
This last version of SysRestore 3.4 was launched on September 13. No new releases during more then 2 months. It’s too long for such a buggy prog.
SysRestore Pro (GiveAway) | Wilders Security Forums says more about it…
Seems I’ll drop it…
When we will see CTM back… This seems to be a joke with us users
Christmas is at the door. Another year without CTM… And really, I don’t think we will see it in a “near” future…
Nothing at all… I have PMed Melih four times during the last two months without a reply… I am preparing a light virtualization and IRS tech article for TweakTown and Melih had said back in October that he would send me an alpha/beta for preliminary testing, but it has been nothing but silence ever since. Is this thing still being developed or not?
It now looks like my article will have to feature everyone else apart from CTM3. I hate this because CTM has always been one of my favorites. The way it looks, even the long-awaited Rollback RX10 will be out before CTM3 is even in beta stage. I am also expecting an RX10 beta from Horizon within the next few weeks and was hoping for a preliminary face-to-face. Melih, Razvan, what’s going on?
Each day of this long year at the dark, each time I login on Comodo forums, I’m trying to keep my secret wish of keeping CTM alive… I’m loosing my faith and “false prophets” are not feeding me anymore… Sorry, little bitter but seems to be the facts.
