Hey Xman I do think Rising is good but my NOD32 sub is good till Nov. Also AV Comparatives has voted NOD32 best AV 2 years in a row (06,07). See what this year brings. NOD32 has a web shield but also it has an active mode for web shield. In active mode there is more effective filtering with absolutely no slow downs in web page loading unlike Avira and KAV. Hell Avast Home Free Edition even has a web shield. So I think Rising should head down that path. Yes I know it can be a sales gimmick but for me I like seeing my av catch things the second I click on them and not wait till I download them.
Know what I’d like to see Vette? Both CAV3 & Rising AV make it into the top 5 in 2009 in all 3rd party test labs, how bout’ you man, wouldn’t that be cool, a broader choice of the best…

Yes very true. Hopefully CAV3 will have all the bells and whistles we need.
Hey,
as I’ve had many problems getting proper updates with avira (free) lately, I thought I might try another av. I’ve already tried avast ( :-TU ) and Nod (2.4 :-TU ). This thread, however, convinced me to give Rising a go until CAVS 3 will be released and it seems pretty good so far. Very stable, myriads of possible settings, nice gui (but this very dark gui is really a matter of taste - love it or hate it), no burden on the system, …
A+ :-TU
This might be a keeper (if it continues to prove itself worthy)
Cheers

Understand Avira free update servers are slower then Avira Premium. There problem is nothing wrong with the updates its just the Premium version has faster and better servers. NOD32 2.7 is outdated. Did you try 3.0 yet?
Hey, 2.7 uses the same signatures. The only real thing new in 3.0 is a GUI… At the present time. I’ve heard they plan on more features though.
They also upgraded their engine off course to v3.
Josh
NOD32 3.0 is more then just a GUI change from 2.7. Alot more. Come on guys do you think they would come out with a new version just to upgrade the GUI. Thats like saying Comodo 3.0 is just a GUI change from Comodo 2.4.
The thing is I charge people for cleaning their usbs ;D So the flash scanning feature is very usefull to me. ^^ Have you tried Rising support? They do answer. Just that their english needs improving a bit ^^ I think I can safely recomend this AV. I used to recomend Avast. And Avast is good but it has the annoying registration hassle. And I deal with many people that have computers but don’t know anything so I recomend Rising to not have to explain how to register and all. Easier for them
Actually they could do that. For sales. Verify if they catch the same viruses. I think maybe they both catch the same.
And we’re off topic by the way
WOW :o six pages… all about rising, I must try this software…
Hi Grampa, glad to see you’re giving it a go, keep us posted as to your impressions of its performance in all aspects
of this software, nice to see another member ROSE to the call (no pun intended) while we all await CAV3.
For my part I might wait as far as Sept-Oct after other members’ reviews of CAV3 performance before I consider switching back, in the meantime CPF, Rising AV, Malwarebytes Antimalware & Sandboxie do it for me & all work great together
Xman :-TU (:KWL)
Hey Xman do you know you can set up CCleaner to empty your Sandbox when your done. Works great. Sorry for the !ot!
I have access to VB100 April’s testing and Rising antivirus (paid version) got these results:
WildList viruses:
OD - 99,97% ; OA - 99,97%
Worms & Bots:
OD - 99,73% ; OA - 99,73%
File infector viruses:
OD - 93,70% ; OA - 93,70%
Polyphormic Viruses:
OD - 44,63% ; OA - 44,63%
Legacy samples:
OD - 56,40% ; OA - 56,40%
False Positives: 1
Eset NOD32 - 100% in all of the testing.
Hi Dark, pretty decent figures, exceptional for the first three categories all the same, overall average of all 5 of 78.89 is not bad for a generally unknown AV here in North America & Europe. I’m quite convinced though that through Risings’ efforts that they’ll improve on those numbers in a not too distant future for sure, they update their defs along with the main program with consistancy…
And Vette, I let Sandboxie empty itself when I disengage my browsing session & save CCleaner for emptying my
Internets’ temp folder(s) instead, which it does quickly I may add
Regards guys

Yes, indeed. But let us not forget that the tested version was the paid one. The free one is a stripped down version of this one, I guess. So, the detection results will vary a bit.
But the paid version seems that it came to stay. Lets see what happens in the near future.
Hi Dark, the free version of Rising contains all functions of the paid version & trust me it’s the case as Ripley would
say “Believe it or Not”, give it a run for its’ money dude, it’s FREE!
Xman (:KWL) :-TU
Well, i tested this AV in my real machine, not VM, no problems, but it isn’t my cup of tea. I came back to AVAST home.
And, of course, a lot of left overs. runing registry cleaners, hahaha.
S H I T (:AGY)
+1 of that Rafel. Its a good av but I spent alot of time getting rid of left over registry and program entries. Even with Revo in advanced mode.
You Guys, Vette & Rafel, should’ve ran Zsoft installer & then Glary Utilities & then removed all allowed permissions in CPF thereafter to complete a full disinstallation or Rising as I did when I did it & then reinstalled it. Everthing went aces with this procedure, not a trace leftover before reinstall of Rising AV. I’m in awe that you both had trouble uninstalling cleanly considering both of your obvious computer savvy in this matter, strikeout…
Don’t frustrate, be happy & experiment a little - alot
