I am not a bench mark person. I think Chromium based and Opera are in a same realm of speed.
Opera is working fine with CIS no quirks.
Both are pretty similar in terms of speed, different tests flick between the two as the fastest.
I like Opera because it’ll have really cool features in it that’ll not be thought of by any other browsers for 10 more years or so.

Chrome doesn’t have unite, nor turbo, nor … i could go on
You can’t customize as much as you can with firefox but Opera has alot of settings more than chrome and iexplore put together…
Just more features that i needed (I am distgusted of the ‘mouse gestures’ as I 'm not to lazy to actually click)
The hardest thing was to not press ctrl and then click but now it’s shift and click

Check out NoAds extension. It is the Opera equivalent of Ad Block Plus with No Script I think.

I like my Chrome mouse gestures extension. I don’t think I’d care much about Unite, since I don’t share huge files often and Wuala takes care of backups, syncs, and sharing (for free), but turbo looks interesting.
Does Opera use less RAM than Chrome?
Edit: Oh, and Chrome syncs add-ons between different installations. I don’t think Opera Link does that.
