Opera 10 beta [CLOSED]

Thanks Cocktail! :-TU

:-TU Thanks

If you want anything over about 100MB it would be better to use a download manager that supports Resume; Opera can do this but it’s a bit of a workaround:

Resuming interrupted download.

  1. Rename the downloaded part
  2. Start to download the original file again
  3. Stop the new download a few seconds later
  4. Quit Opera
  5. Replace the new download file with the old one (simply rename the old file to the original filename)
  6. Start Opera
  7. Opera should be able to continue the old download

I use Free Download Manager from:

Now, no trouble at all in getting LinuxMint to start. I went to [the UK mirror], but you could go back up the chain, at:

http://mirror.sov.uk.goscomb.net/linuxmint.com/stable/7/

and tried the various options in Opera and they worked.

Opera’s d/l manager is OK 'til Opera or PC crashes.

As a DVD would take about 6h on my connection, I like to have an easy way of pausing it until the next day.

BTW, new RC just released - seems OK.

ah, giraffe you beat me by minutes!
Here’s the new build: Klick!
Another great beta. Works better than other company’s released versions.

Only English language file in build 1615 :(, and other language files deleted by the installer when updating from 1606. :o

I uninstalled 1615, installed 1606, copied sv.lng, installed 1615 and put sv.lng in locale folder.

The only warning the installer gives, is that it does not ask which language you wish to use. :-\ It doesn’t say that language files you already have will be deleted. :-TD

I expect so. Please remember, the Desktop Team stuff is sometimes highly experimental. Though I have to say that 1615 runs great for me, I’m really looking forward to the official 10.0 release.

Build 1622 has all languages.

They really tweak the GUI graphics for every new snapshot. :o I like the current 1622 (e.g. new tab bar colour). :-TU

Opera 10 is a lot ‘prettier’ than previous releases.

Never really liked any of the standard designs, so have tried and settled on 2 or 3 skins, then edited the .ini file to suit me.
I hate the dark, gloomy skins.

How about Windows native skin in Opera? Looks nice?

nope, but it’s a “known issue” with the new look. Let’s hope for the final.

OK :-TU

Nah - too ‘square’.

I have Compact Crystal, winvista_maxthon-2 and winvista_m2_optimized-2; currently using the last one.

The tabs are all 70/70 max/min - great for rapid clicking to close several at about 3/sec.

opera is the best ,safe , fast and low in ram.

Do notice that also Mozilla chimed in on the EU case against Microsoft. Read this article on ZD Net: Mozilla chief backs Opera’s browser-bundling complaint against Microsoft .

Thanks for the read Eric.

Perhaps there should be a new thread on this if someones interested to create?
