Ah, sorry, my mistake, I didn’t check the page carefully.
No you shouldn’t. The structure of the userdata-folder changed with Opera 10.
Though it may be interesting to see if the auto-conversion would work in this case…

I think you need to do the following.

First set Opera to allow to allow windows with no tabs. Go to Tools → Preferences → Advanced → Tabs → Additional tab options → tick Allow windows with no tabs.

Now change how Opera starts under Tools → Preferences → General.

When you install Opera for multiple users you should get a path like that. When you install for one profile for all users you would get the Opera setting files in the installation folder of Opera.

On what OS are you Matty? Where are the settings files stored (look under Help -->About Opera)?

You can start up Opera with Speed Dial as your start page. The setting under Additional ab options toggles between Speed Dial or no tab on start up under start up options.

Thanks EricJH but the tip didn’t solve my URL shortcuts issue in Sideslide, like I mentioned they work fine if Opera is already open, but they no longer launch Opera and follow the clicked URL requested as with Opera V9.64, any other suggestions would be welcome, my issue doesn’t concern speed dial feature by the way. See attached error message screen shot from Sideslide

Opening a link from an application when Opera is not running will fail. Opera opens but it doesn’t open the page. Its a known bug with Opera 10.

It happens to me at least once a day when I open a url from Outlook and Opera is not running. Outlook will give an error saying something went wrong. Just wait until it is fixed and meanwhile suffer in silence…

How do you mean? If i set opera up to allow windows without tabs and to start without open tabs, it does precisely that, it starts with an empty window if launched from the shortcut.

Yes, I noticed this in between.
Let me try to make my case clearer:
I want opera to behave the following way:
a) have speeddial as “fallback”, which means, after closing the last active tab, display speed dial instead of empty window
b) start with speeddial if launched via icon or hotkey
c) start with linked content (and speeddial, if necessary) when opening a link from an external application.

Is this possibly to achieve?

I’ve no clue what I did to my installation, apart from trying our different options for windows with / without tabs. And out of the blue, opera started to behave exactly the way I described above. That’s truly amazing!

EDIT: a) has a tab for speeddial open, that is… and c) starts with both of them, linked url and speeddial.

choose one without dots or other special characters. The username is appended to an url at the moment.
