I just went to the Norton DNS website and noticed that things looked different, and there is now Web Filtering and a Client/Utility Program available along with the already available Malware Blocking; so I guess that makes Norton DNS possibly better than Open DNS Free at this time, as far as Features available for Free users and for the Security Conscious. :o
You can now register for a free account and pick your own block categories and white lists and black lists! :o
If I understand correctly what Norton says on its site, its DNS blocks KNOWN unsafe and infected sites as well phising. So it doen’t appear to do more than Comodo DNS. Or am I missing something?
As soon as I seen the new updates, I immediately signed up for a free account and I am now testing the new features; you know how I like to test stuff.
Let me post some screenshots my friend.
There is even a Client now.
But I was wrong about the Beta part , but the new features and client are now there!
It does look good from a visual perspective, but it would be nice for an a new test by Languy or someone for all of them, to see which really protects the best and why… along with a list of good points and bad points about each individual offering?
Well surely it could help protect the user against itself. Looks like some sort of parental control but for oneself. Could help addicts of some sorts of sites to change habits. :o
Oh no my dear, I wasn’t at all thinking of testing of softwares…unless you meant others testings ;D
this activity seems quite sound, at least for the little grey cells.
One of the things I was thinking of, you have checked already in your list. But I’ll say no more. ???
I like to block several categories of websites for myself/family/friends, but not because of any addictions, just normal defenses against possibly unwanted websites.
