Is there any way to stop comodo firewall 10 (10.0.1.6209) from recreating the desktop icon every time I open and close settings? It is really annoying when trying to keep a clean desktop.

i did make the workaround to get rid of the icon. it was gone. yesterday comodo downlooaded the newest update which i didn’t dare to install yet. there was a unknown file in the widget, a file from comodo which i added to trusted… since then the icon reappears again and the workaround with the read only and hidden thingy doesen’t work anymore… >:(

It’s driving our users nutz and I’m tired of hearing the complaining. We run desktops with few shortcuts, and they hate when one gets added they don’t use. I am the same, I want to control my computer, what goes on, it etc. I don’t like a piece of software telling me what I should/should not have. I like to analyze and decide for myself, thank you.
Latest update (v.10.0.1.6209) no longer creates the icon every time you access the main interface window. However, it still creates the icon every time you change the state of a protection system, such as changing HIPS from Training to Paranoid, or changing Firewall from Training to Custom, or disabling antivirus, etc. It also still creates the icon every time you respond to an alert.
The program should not be creating the icon at all, except when a program update is installed. The code that creates the icon should be removed from all locations in the program code that are not part of the update installer.

Hello, I don’t know if i’m the only one who got this, but the Shortcut Icons of CIS is lagging. I can’t move it, I can’t delete it, and its flickering every now and then. Well, i can move it and delete it technically, but it will always come back to that same spot on my home screen if I tried anything.
The one in the toolbar near the time and date is also flickering. The most bothering one, though, is the shortcut home screen that i can’t do anything. It really does just re-appear, I could delete it 20 time and have 20 CIS shortcut in my Trashcan and it will still be there on my home screen after two second. I normally just put everything in a folder because I like a clean home screen, but now I have one shortcut in my normal folder and one that i can’t do anything hanging in my home screen. Please fix this it’s really annoying and I wish i didn’t updated, because, no, its wasn’t doing that 30 minutes ago when I haven’t updated yet.
Beside that, I can’t see the CIS shortcut icon if I look at the ‘folders explorer’ then go to the one corresponding to the home screen. I have every icon (trashcan, folders, etc) but that CIS isn’t there. It’s weird that it won’t show in my folder but will directly in my home screen.
I’ve rebooted my computer and yet, it doesn’t change anything on the matter.

Can someone possibly shed some light onto why the Comodo firewall shortcut keeps appearing on the desktop after putting it in the recycle bin? Also, I have Avast free antivirus on my windows 10 pc that keeps on highlighting that I have two antivirus applications on my system, I use Comodo Firewall?

The icon is a bug within the Comodo program itself. According to some posts here, they are working on it. When will there be a fix, unsure at this time. We need to give them some time to look in to.
Two Antivirus? I have Avast as well, but I am not experiencing your issue. Check in the add/remove programs area, come of these updates to Comodo are installing other programs and one is an antivirus. You may even see it in the listing.

Everytime I remove the Comodo Firewall Desktop icon it keeps coming back. If I’m using my computer with a non-administrator account, the icon returns after a run something as an Administrator. The problem is worst as non administrator because it creates a loop that eats resources, maybe because it tries to recreate the icon but it doesn’t has the privileges to, this also increases memory usage.
Some times while playing steam games, I notice a slow down, the way I find to solve this is to complete shut down comodo firewall, solving the issue.

Same problem here. Desktop icon can’t be removed. I tried also to mess with windows registry: regedit then hkey local machine/software / comodo/cis options and I changed the value of “desktop icon visibility” giving it as value 0, but this didn’t help.
I also noticed that there is another bug. Sice I use this new version my sony voice recorder gives me a pity error saying that the device must be formatted to be used ( however then the access to memory and writing deleting files works just fine).This message appears just on the pc where I have comodo 10 installed.
I am so disappointed it seems that this upgrade was made for windows 10 which I don’t use cause of all the problems that it’s giving as well,but still windows 10 seems affecting us who dindn’t accept it and keep using windows 7.
I’m having the same issue with the desktop icon not staying deleted (I wouldn’t call this issue a virus though). I don’t have the resource issue though. I’m running under a non-admin account. If during the original installation it asked to create a desktop icon, I would have said no, so I’m not sure why it’s being created now and why it keeps reappearing. I’ve spent some time looking through all the configuration settings and don’t even see an option about the desktop icon. Is there an executable that is responsible or some registry key that can be edited?

Have you ever been infected by a computer virus?
It has the same properties as the comodo firewall icon, you try to delete it then it comes back and this go on over and over again.
That is why I choose the title, besides, we already have comodo icon on the taskbar.
It’s a minor bug, which is known about and an update to fix this is undergoing QA right now
