Apparently Comodo no longer provide a free version of CIS under active development/maintenance. Please provide a link to the last free version (not trial) of CIS released, including HIPS, anti-virus, and firewall.

Is the ‘CIS Premium’ at the above link free software (not trial, not subscription) and includes HIPS, Firewall and Anti-virus?

Yes, the CIS premium is the free software, and includes the components you mention.

I’ve installed this and have immediately noticed that the user interface has been dumbed down, and requires more clicks to get to various screens/panels, so I have reverted to the version 12.2.2.8012 that I had installed before. Here are some examples of how functionality and new the GUI are deficient compared with previous versions (these are just what I remember off the top of my head):

-HIPS mode setting option no longer found in tray icon options.
-More clicks required to get to the various settings (HIPS, Firewall, Etc.). These all had drop down arrows appearing on the left in prior interface… They now require a number of clicks to get to each subsection.
-More clicks required to get to various ’ Tasks’.

Please confirm any functional/security improvements over the 8012 version in the latest free version (‘CIS premium’), if there have been any, or if all changes are just to the GUI.

for easier access to the various components, you can go into settings and change the user interface to the lycia theme. This will help you access and see the components much easier. Regarding the improvements, here are the two major ones.

Thanks. Does ByPassIO apply to real-time threat protection as well, or just scans?

After looking around a bit, found that it is designed to enhance the efficiency of security scans and ensure that they do not interfere with system performance.
