Is there a problem with the Antivirus part of Internet Security updating

Hi I have had a problem with the Antivirus part of CIS updating since 8-30. I was not having any problems getting CIS to update the virus database but for some reason after 8-30 I can not get it to update it is stuck on version 9933 I have 5.5 version of CIS I keep it up to date I love the program and I have not had much problems with it but for some reason it is stuck right now for me

Hi djm22,

Can you try the following browse to http://us4.download.comodo.com see if that server is available for you.
It will probably just display a blank page but that should be enough.

If not please try a ‘ping us4.download.comodo.com’ in a command box and after that a ‘tracert us4.download.comodo.com’ and please post the results.
It seems there are some issues for some people reaching these servers.

Hi I tried http://us4.download.comodo.com when I click on it with foxfire and open it up I get a blank page so I added it into CIS and it fails and I still get just as far as before 6% - 50% and then it says it failed and I also tried the ping and I posted my results below so with this I am not any farther yet I will keep working on it and post my findings if I get anywhere before someone else does

Thank you Ronny for helping me out much appreciated

djm22, do you have Verizon DSL internet by some odd chance?

No I have what use to be Qwest DSL and now is Centruylink

Alright, just was curious to see if we had the same service provider which could have possibly explained some why we both can’t get updates.

Ok well here is another piece to the puzzel …lol I can trace download.comodo.com but I still can not get the VBS from it yet but I still can not trace http://us4.download.comodo.com I just tried it a second time now

I also just traced “download.comodo.com” with no problems as well. Only difference compared to your screenshot is that it only took 15 hops for me to get there instead of 19. hehe

it also works for me to ping download.comodo.com it takes 163ms to make a round trip but no packet loss no problems so I am still at a loss why it will not download for me

I can tell you it’s not your provider. I have the same provider and I’m having no problems with updates.

I’m having the same problem.
When browsing to http://us4.download.comodo.com it asks me for a password.

Also, The “Check for Updates” is not working. It gives a “Access denied” message

Well it all came out to be my belkin router going on some level for me so I put a new router on and I am not having a problem now like I explain it all out here https://forums.comodo.com/antivirus-help-cis/virus-database-update-failure-t75623.30.html I posted it there because more people were communicating on that post so I just kept up on that one hope that maybe this helps you too

Comodo is currently working on their back end servers. Some of the reports by users may be related to that.

Guys, there is definately a problem with your servers - the amount of people who are suddenly unable to update their Defs is getting rediculous, me included. I can’t emphasise enough how important it is for you to sort this problem out - sooner rather than later. Enough half hearted work-arounds that don’t work, or re-installs that result in the same problem - GET THE PROBLEM FIXED!!! :-TD :embarassed: :-[

You know, I was just able to update on of my computers last night when I hard-wired it directly into the DSL modem. But if the wireless modem is in between, I can’t update. But at least I got one computer to update to 10009. So, I copied that new database onto a USB stick and copy/pasted it into the other computers, so I’m somewhat up to date for now. (Thank goodness for Netbooks, LOL.)

That might explain some stuff. Please let us know when this work is done. To be honest, I don’t want to go out and buy a new wireless router if it isn’t necessary to attempt to fix my connection problem with my computers.

I also cannot get updates as of 8-30 on one computer and 9-1 on the other. I also unsuccessfully tried the manual download of the database. I cannot connect to http://us4.downloads.comodo.com either, but can ping it and trace it. I am running CIS version 5.5 and would un-install and re-install except cannot download anything from comodo download site.

Hi all,

In case you’ve not seen me here before, I’m one of the network admins at Comodo and I’ve been working on this issue some people have been experiencing with their AV downloads. So far we’ve been unable to reproduce the issues that people are seeing but we can understand it’s frustrating for our users who have this problem so we’ve been working hard to isolate and fix it.

I’ve created a test file and put in on our download mirrors and also on a test server that’s got some slightly different configuration and logging. If you are having issues with your AV updates can you please try to download from these two links;

http://download.comodo.com/10MB
http://178.255.83.1/test/10MB

and post the results to this thread. The more people who are seeing this issue that can participate and help us track down the problem, the faster we can get it fixed! Also, if you are having this problem and have a Linux PC available for testing, can you please contact me via PM as there are some additional things we could test and that would be very, very helpful.

Many thanks in advance for your help

Dave

Hi from Italy, i have the problem described here, i have tried to download the two files, only the second works.
I hope that you find a solution at the problem as soon as possible.
Thanks.

For me, the first link does’nt work (like for my AV downloads) but the other (with 178.255.83.1) works well.

Thanks for your work

I am also in Italy and can only download the second link.
