Thanks for that… And i have CurrentControlSet, Controlset001-005.
I am having serious issues. I uninstalled CFP and ran your cleaner utility but I am left with two “Comodo Firewall Miniport” devices that I CANNOT uninstall. Help please!
This is the first I’ve heard of “Comodo Firewall Miniport” appearing in Device Manager. I looked through mine and found no such instances of this.
Regardless, have you tried right-clicking on these “miniports” and selecting “Uninstall”?
Failing that, you might have to do some registry edits to get rid of them, and even then, you may need to elevate the permissions on those registry keys (if they do, in fact, exist) to delete them.
Post back…this is a weird one.
You have to tick Show hidden devices in Device Manager before you can see comodo miniports.

Many thanks!!!
I have been told these are present on Vista. I guess you are using XP and that’s why nothing is listed in Device Manager.
I know…I did that the first time, and there were no entries (I use Windows XP Pro).
It’s a moot point, though, as Yuriy points out above that these entries likely appear only in Vista’s Device Manager.
I didn’t have to show any hidden devices of any sort. CFP miniport was UNDER NETWORK ADAPTERS. Also… it didn’t install WHEN I installed CFP. It happened after the restart. As the OS booted a device install balloon popped up saying it’s installing CFP Miniport #4. The device was successfully installed but the firewall remained on “not functioning properly” message until I did another reboot. CFP kept freezing up my desktop moments after boot so I uninstalled it ASAP. Following that I was left with a Miniport under network adapters in device manager. Rightclicking and selecting uninstall, no matter how many times, refreshes the device list but leaves the miniport right where it is. When I go to its properties it says that some software related to the device is missing.
Oops sorry :-[
That will teach me to look properly just WAN miniports in XP none for comodo.

Thanks to all so far in this thread!
I installed v.3 yesterday from v.2.4 without incident on XP Pro SP2. Then today I changed Defense settings to Paranoid and ran a full backup. Now I can’t even run Firefox or even shutdown as I am now getting You don’t have access to shutdown and You dont have access run program type of messages. I can shutdown from Task Manager, but re-boot won’t complete…have tried 3 times.
I am using other partition on same notebook PC. Is there a way I can edit the registry on C: (where CP3 is) from THIS partition (E:)?
All I want is to go back to 2.4 which was fine.
Thanks in advance!
Can you boot into Safe Mode?
If so, you may be able to open CFP and revert back to your original settings that worked (before you changed to Paranoid mode). You can also remove CFP in Safe Mode, if you want to downgrade to v2.4.
As for your question about editing the registry, I don’t know. I would leave the registry alone for now, until you perform additional troubleshooting.
Does nobody know anything about how to rid myself of the phantom CFP miniport from device manager PLEASE? With each install/uninstall I accumulate a new one.
ooops …
go back to pages 4 or 5 onwards and read my probs getting back into my comp…
had to caddie the drive and slave to a new machine to get back in … you have to change ownweship of the harddrive…
unlucky m8 … looks like your SAM files have been corrupted or worse non existant anymore …
crazy all for a free firewal; i didnt even need … im behind a router firewall so windows firewall was more than enough…
beware free gifts … how the idiots didnt include an adequate unynstaller is beyond me…
ussss and ragwing will help you as best they can and a big thumbs up to both…
just a pity they have to help clean up such a mess made by the idiots that released a patently flawed product…
I would like to repeat myself… I CANNOT UNINSTALL CFP MINIPORT. This time I would like some help with instructions.
Did you try to remove it from safe mode?
Yes. All it does is refresh the device manager and NOTHING. they are still there.
Maybe the more-important question is this:
Are the CFP Miniports causing problems on your system?
Yes, I heartily agree that you should be able to remove them without difficulty. However, I think this will eventually require editing of another part of the registry, and we simply don’t yet know the location of the relevant keys.
I believe there is still some remnant of CFP – besides the miniports listed in Device Manager – that is preventing their removal. If you have not already done so, try performing a manual search of the registry for “CFP” + “miniport” and see if anything pops up.
Just a thought have you tried disabling it and rebooting before trying to remove it sorry if you already have tried this.
Dennis
I have. And yes it DOES cause me A LOT of problems with its mere presence.
OK, can you be specific? Are you getting BSODs, slow performance, Internet connectivity problems? What errors are showing up in Event Viewer? Are they directly attributable to CFP Miniports?
