may i ask a question before i do this wont my pc and web browser be slow to start if it has a software firewall to go threw ow will it not slow my pc down at all?
Your misunderstanding what Comodo does. Comodo doesnt have a web shield. It does not slow down your browsing. Most software firewalls do slow down web browsing either unless they have a web shield. A software firewall simply asks you if you want a certain program to access the internet. It does not filter that program.
oh ok right on will this interfere with avast antivirus and its protection scheme?
No. Not at all. Avast and Comodo with D+ active make for a great free security set up.
I HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING IN THIS 15 PAGE THREAD TO REMOVE THIS SOFTWARE. There is not even an uninstaller in Add/Remove programs. Is this company totally out to lunch or just plain incompetent?
When I do use the files and procedure presented here, my network will not connect. The uninstallers added a bunch of mini Comodo network drivers in Device manager under Local Connection and my Nividia ethernet card, which will not uninstall when I try it from Device Manager.
How can anyone have any confidence in a company that puts out such sloppily written software. From the forums, this has been a problem for years and Comodo WON’T fix it!! They must have their heads in the sand. I would not put this on my computer if they paid me!!
I am really mad!! Now I have to spend several days reformatting and reinstalling Vista 32. These people should be ashamed of themselves. How stupid can they get. They are total amatuers and if I was in charge, all of the software, the people that are responsible for allowing this junk to be foisted on the public would be FIRED immediately!!
If anyone can give me some constructive heip, it would be much appreciated.
Thanks
I’m sorry that your mad but i don’t think bad mouthing a company that makes excellent software is going to help your case. try using revo uninstaller in advanced mode and see if that helps you.
I already did that. It did not work. There is NO uninstall file. How can you say they make execellent software? It is sloppily written. Why are there several 10 to 15 page threads regarding this issue if they make good software?
I don’t think you know the meaning of excellence.
Did you download the batch file zip? Look at the first reply from the maker of this thread USSS. Keep in mind this doesn’t happen all the time. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Comodo on both my machines atleast 20 times with no errors. There was no reason to reinstall your OS. Did you try making a post in the Help area instead of bad mothing in this thread?
There is a Folder left in C:\Windows named Perftech. Should I delete it also ? Will deleting this folder have any adverse effect on Windows?
You mean your " Prefetch" folder. Thats not from Comodo thats part of Windows.
You should not delete it. Doing so will slowdown the Windows boot and program start of applications. It’s a widely spread myth that wiping it out will speed up your computer, but that’s not true. Also, after all, it only takes a few megabytes.
You can read more about the Prefetcher here:
Cheers,
Ragwing
Not so true Ragwing. Deleting the entire prefetch folder you do not do but deleting whats inside it is ok. Every so often I do this and your boot up speeds dramatically increase. But your system performance will be slow at first till your prefetch is rebuilt. Afterwords your pc will be back to normal.
As I said in my first heated post, I tried ALL of the methods suggested in this now 16 page thread with NO results. I end up with no internet connection, and no way to get connected without a reformat.
I am using Vista 32 SP1. The uninstall routines posted here actually added drivers to my Network Adapters section of Device Manager, WHICH CAN NOT BE UNINSTALLED, only disabled. Even then and after upgrading the driver for my network card, I can’t get an internet connection.
Comodo software is junk!! Just look at the number of posts of people having problems uninstalling or reinstalling. How can anyone have any confidence in it’s ability to do what it advertises when it is so sloppilly written, and after years of complaints, the company has done NOTHING to fix it.
Just compare it with some of the other excellent malware products now being released, like Kaspersky Internet Security 2009, Online Armor v3, DefenseWall v2.45, Geswall and even the new Norton NIS 2009 beta. All of these programs, which I have recently tested, leave this company far behind in this field. Comodo does not even appear to have any incentive to fix the horrendous errors in their programming.
So you Comodo fanboys can criticize my heated posts all you want, but it will not change the facts…just look at all of the posts in this stupid forum. There are so many problems that it makes your head swim just to find a solution to anything.
I will let my feelings be known to all of my customers and to anyone else that asks me about Malware.
Just remember, you get what you pay for and in Comodo’s case, you get much more…wasted time, emotional stress, and wasted energy!!
I will be posting my warnings on Wilders also, so that innocent people that look at the ratings will be advised of the real and sad story of this software. The people who work for this company should be embarrassed for even being associated with such behavior. I can’t believe that the guy who wrote Pro Security would be so stupid as to consider even joining them. He must be really hungry!
Guy, you have an opinion, but you know what they say about opinions; everyone has them, just like everyone has certain orifices…
My first Linux distribution was yggdrasil.
I worked with DOS, OS/2, BSD, IBM mainframes, Sun OS…
Do you think developing a low-level soft is the same thing as pushing out a word processor or a spreadsheet?
CFP v2 and v3 is some of the best software for the ■■■■■■ Windows platform that I have ever seen, and I HAVE TRIED THEM ALL, and Comodo’s stuff is what I have on my personal box.
CFP may have some interface problems, but the stability of the soft is OUTSTANDING.
(:NRD)
Of course, that is just my opinion, just like you have yours…
Regards,
Alex.
Thanks for all the good advices. Especially the link to wikipedia was veryt useful.
Once again, my thanks to all those who came up with a reply.yes, It was typo. I meant, prefetch
I could not believe how complicated all of this seemed, so instead of trying that, I went back (in Vista) to the last restore point before Comodo was installed (about 5 days back), and restored the PC. That worked fine. Vista reports only one firewall running now (not Comodo). Seems a lot easier than the long methods here. Hope that helps someone.
Mike
That will only work if you recently installed Comodo. But what if its been months? Quite different there.
This is too much for average user. please come up with good installer/unistaller
You do not need to do all these steps if you read the entire post. If you go step by step and print it out its all very easy. All you have to do is download the batch file.
Hi usss
This is an iteresting post, maybe it will help me god only knows??javascript:void(0);

I have tried using regedit and still get the same problem, please note I am am only a just starting with this stuff!
its doing my head in LOL. But I will keep trying, its a good firewall just can’t resolve this problem!
windows sp2, spyware blaster, spyware terminator, ( did have spyware doctor on too, but that was eating loads of memory and resoures).
