can you update the uninstaller ?
to make a clean uninstall of the new version (V) (CLY)
It’s really up to Ragwing to update the batch file to include SafeSurf (I am not using this new feature).
Again, I would not refer to the batch file as an “uninstaller.” It is simply a utility to remove remnant registry entries and files/folders that may be left behind following a “standard” uninstallation using “Add/Remove Software” in Control Panel.
I’ve updated the batch file now. I’ve also changed the title of the topic so that users understand that it’ll remove SafeSurf Toolbar too, and not just CFP 3.
If there’s anything wrong with the code, PM me and I’ll fix it.
Cheers,
Ragwing
Hello all,
I was just wondering if you could help me with an uninstallation problem with my Comodo firewall pro 3.0.21.329? I just can’t seem to uninstall it, as there’s no remove button for it in Add/Remove programs. When I try to install a new CFP it can’t uninstall properly, and updating doesn’t work. I’m using winxp sp2 and on a broadband connection.
I have very, very limited abilities regarding the use of regedit and command prompt and was hoping you could quickly and simply guide me in the uninstalling of comodo, so I can install the new version.
I’m not sure if this is the thread which relates to my concerns though since I don’t have that toolbar, and unable to do a standard uninstall in the first place (the batch file requires a standard uninstall first right?).
Cheers
All you need to perform a great uninstall of Comodo products, and as well as all other products are 2 great free tools: Revo Uninstaller and MVRegClean.
Just uninstall any application with Revo Uninstaller and then make a final registry cleaning with MVRegClean. No mess done. Perfect!
I once tried the procedure with the file provided in the thread but it did not work out. I tried other tools and found those 2 to be perfect.
Also make sure before cleaninf with MVRegClean to manually delete all Comodo left over files that Revo may not have deleted.
Hi, justinechan, and welcome to the Comodo forums.
I would first try running the batch file that appears at the bottom of the first post in this thread.
If you are still having problems thereafter, then applying the two tools suggested by DarkButterfly would be the next step. Be sure to read the documentation for each so that you fully understand how they work. It would also be a good opportunity for you to learn how to back up your Windows Registry if you intend to try a registry management utility. See here for information: How to back up and restore the registry in Windows - Microsoft Support
Good luck, and let us know how things go.
I hope the batch file works…I’m having too many problems with understanding how V3 works. Hope to go back to V2.
One suggestion, however, be sure to set a system restore point before doing anything. JMHO…
That recommendation is in the first post by USSS. Look at step 1. I actually never needed to use this cause Revo works great for me.
I found some mistakes in the batch file, which have been corrected now. It includes a missing ‘/’, which caused a registry key to not be removed, and another one that made the temporary file created to remove individual registry entries to not be deleted (cmd.exe would report that the file didn’t exist).
If you have questions or feedback, please PM me.
Cheers,
Ragwing
Thanks for this great tool and for the update. (I was the first who downloaded it! :P)
Liron Jan.
I went through the comprehensive step by step and then used the batch file as well just to be sure I did it correctly.
Everything is gone except FirewallPro\Data\Resfile
I know this was a file I got to going through and maually removing as well and it refused to let me. (although I forget how I got there-three aclock in the morning and my memory don’t mix to well lol)
Reasoning both thru the batch file and the pop-up message I get is “Process cannot access file because it is being used by another process”
Does anyone know what to do about this?
Thanks in advance for any help!

wow are these issues fixed yet as i was going to install the firewall but from what i read here if i have to uninstall for any reason i’m going to have a headache uninstalling it please tell me this is fixed so i can use this firewall thanks.
Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
To minimize any problems that may occur, either installing or uninstalling, follow these simple steps:
- Back up your system and/or create a System Restore point.
- Completely remove all traces of any previously installed firewall. Visit the firewall vendor’s site for any special removal tools that may be available.
- Familiarize yourself with the system requirements and suggested configurations for CFP. Check the Bug Reports section for possible conflicts with software that may already be installed on your system.
- Download the latest version of CFP 3 from Free Firewall - Download the Best Firewall Protection and Anti-Virus Scan Software from Comodo
- Disable your Internet connection and shut down all unnecessary applications and processes. In particular, disable any anti-virus and related security software.
- Follow the prompts during the installation routine. Settings may be changed after you reboot your system.
um thats all Greek to me i know how to shut off my av and now other firewall installed so good there what is best setting for it to work with a router? and should i run my system in selective startup or something? threw the msconfig thing?
I need some clarification from you.
Are you running another brand of firewall? If so, I can’t help you with it. If you want to install Comodo, any other firewall (except for Windows Firewall) must be completely removed first.
As for your hardware router, you should enable its firewall (if it has one) and NAT service (Network Address Translation). Generally, the default settings for it should work fine.
Unless you are experiencing other issues on your PC, there is no need for selective startup or to modify the startup list of programs in msconfig. Just allow your system to boot up normally each time. If you have Comodo installed, your PC will be protected during the bootup routine.
no other firewall on this pc other then windows one. and yes should i run a firewall with a router and dose it need to be on all my systems.
Keep in mind you ONLY need to use this procedure if Comodo fails to uninstall properly. 90% of the people never need to do this. I myself have never needed to do this. I use Revo Uninstaller in advanced mode for all my programs and it does the job just fine.
Yes, as an integral part of a layered security scheme, you should run a software firewall in conjuction with your router. Generally, the software firewall should be installed on each PC connected to the router.
