Whenever some pretend to give advices on the other hand they look plenty willing to overstate/forge faults in the same sentence…
It is somewhat baffling to confirm how many of these guys subscribe only to provide advices and are not involved in any helpful activity in these forums.
Indeed helping other members could potentially encourage them to not falter at the slightest perceived discomfort and enable them to help other people as well…
Indeed it takes much less to post a misinformed opinion than to help somebody.
we always appreciate our users wishes for the features they want to see or the feauter they want to improve. Thats why we have wishlist we created. There is no issues with anyone going to wishlists and posting their wishes, I do not see or recall any issues when people did that tbh.
I never overstated any criticism of Comodo in the slightest and I never meant to compare NIS to Comodo in level of security or any kinds of tests. I simply said Comodo had too many popups and Norton had none. That is the condensed version of what I originally said. Other people chose to chime in and criticize Norton on other points. Some of which were completely off base. I think Norton is a fine product for the masses and therefore I defended it from the attacks. Maybe I was wrong about Norton being in the recommended bracket at Matousec, I can’t really recall now whether it was that or the fact that it’s protection level has always been rated as good (and still is). That is actually irrelevant as even Melih has said that Comodo does not program to pass Matousec tests or any other tests that include scenarios of attack that don’t currently exist and maybe never will. It is also OT in this thread, but I am not the one who started it. I only defended NIS against inaccurate attacks and I never even hinted that Comodo should employ the same methods as Norton to achieve greater usability. I just said they should strive to get closer to the end result of seamless operation with little or no interraction required.
Some people seem to think CIS is fine as it is and don’t want it to change. I don’t agree. Melih’s vision of creating a safer internet through default deny technology will never be realized if that same technology does not become more user friendly. It will never be embraced by the masses until that happens and the prevailing default allow will remain the prevalent force.
In fact Comodo may not have a choice.
Microsoft’s MSE will have an earthquake effect when it is officially relesed. I’ve been testing the currently Beta version on a virtual machine and still have to find a malware that passes through. I use it along with CIS (AV turned off).
When the regular user will have the choice of a firewall that comes pre-installed with the OS and a free AV from the same provider will he/her look somewhere else?
I don’t mind all those pop-ups, really. Honestly, I prefer knowing what happens on my computer. But that’s just me. Having a fully automated software is something what we had before until now and what happened all the times - there was always something that slipped through. Because a machine cannot handle everything on its own, a machine is alternate intelligence, while humans are not, humans like hackers who always find ways to slip into your PC and steal your data. That is why a default deny system with recognition of suspicious files is needed and that is precisely what COMODO is about. Each time it detects something suspicious you know about it.
I really wonder if the masses would be still kept in such seemingly everlasting stagnation if individuals who apparently post as a proxy for the people they supposedly advice, had these people directly involved for a change.
It may be that some prefer to act as speech-person for the masses or even suggest novices what they don’t have to learn or understand but this have nothing to do with any product.
There have been nothing more detrimental than this whereas this perspective self-replicated and spread though the years and is passed as an advice.
And sure it does appear that many people wish to keep things this way, and let nowadays users know no better than the ones many years ago.
It is a good thing this don’t actually apply to other aspects of popular culture whereas the so called masses evolved though the years and find themselves better than many years ago…
