In this case, when you launch a program named( “setup.exe” or other you specified), then CTM will automatically take a snapshot.
According to my tests, CTM scheduler only checks tasks every minute. It’s OK for other types of task, but not for events. I think It should monitor the executions.
Also If an event occurs between the two checks, then CTM will not take snapshot.
example:
event: setup.exe
check interval: every min
11:00 // CTM (task check)
result: no snapshot
Hi herbzhang in replying to your post at « Reply #35 on: Yesterday at 12:28:25 PM »
This is to say that we need to do extra step : perform disk compact in order for the CTM to show the disk space information . I think this is a good habit for users to compact after snapshotting. hmm… why not make it default with a pop-up showing the status after snapshotting so that the users can be aware of the disk space at all times ?
Thank you for your great idea:)

Yes, this problem does exist, and CTM needs to be improved. After all, Rome was not built in a day.
After uninstalling CTM I tried to backup my machine using Acer’s backup, however the backup failed. I could not find the Acer restore to default either using Alt + F10 to access the hidden partition, so I decided I may as well format and delete the D: drive. Having doubled the size of my C: drive to over 60 Gb with nearly 40 Gb free, I have now reinstalled CTM and all seems to be well.
Hi,
I was compacting about 6-9 snapshots.
before compacting, CTM showed :
Free space: 155666
Used space: 149576
But after compacting,
Free space: 150942
Used space: 154300
Could be formula error or printing error .

Not sure if this is a bug. For XP SP3 running CIS.
I decided to go back to the day before to save uninstalling some programs I was trying.
After reboot I opened CIS GUI which showed av update as before the snapshot I had restored to, as expected. When I clicked that to update, the entire av database was downloaded and called for a restart. After restart the updated time still showed the day before, so I clicked to update again and the same 100mb plus download ran again. After restart it was as before showing the previous day. The about section when I looked after that seemed to show the latest database.
After that I restored to the original snapshot and uninstalled my programs individually. CIS was back to normal.
Had a similar thing happen to me the other days James.
Just finished work and booted the computer up then wen`t to make a brew. Came back and tried to open my browser and it wouldn`t respond, mmm i thought lets see what task manager has to say. After finally getting it up, task manager that is, i noticed cfp.exe taking up to 70% cpu and cmdagent going very high as well(managed to catch a screenie).I realised something wasn`t right so i re-booted and all seemed fine. Then i got the message about the virus database has been updated and you need to restart for it to take effect.
I looked at the bases.cav file and it was back to original install size(db v=1)Re-booted then had to do the 106MB install again, re-booted again and now all seems fine. Can`t see anything in Event viewer, so where did ~100MB of virus defs vanish to Huh
Anyone else seen anything like this?
Matt
Apparently it`s do with bases.cav becoming corrupted. The night before the router was powered down while i was still browsing, it could possibly be if the AV was updating at that specific time and is suddenly interupted the bases.cav file can get corrupted. It then does a roll-back/repair.
Could be the reason :-\
space information in protection settings show space information of every partition in CURRENT SNAPSHOT. this value is the same as you get from right click each partition in My Computer and select “property”.
space information in CTM maintenance shows overall protected space usage from ctm view, this is the actual disk status.
Cannot install:
Testing memory 102C5EEA…
ErrorCode8801: Insufficient space to install protect system
Would you please post a screen shot of Computer management->Storage->Disk Management?

Here it goes. Unfortunatelly it is in spanish.

Installation went fine (or not), but after the restart i cannot run the application. All i receive is a failure message that a “critical subsystem” would be required (see screenshot). Folder and start menu entries were generated, drivers were installed and the COMODO Time Machine service is running, however.
My system consists of 2 hard disks - 1st is a 64 gb SSD where the OS, AV and drivers resides; 2nd is a conventional 1 tb drive where everything else including CTM is located. During installation i was asked to check the drive i want to protect; i selected “C” (the SSD) only. I noticed that a “Files” folder appeared on “D” after the installation with some DLLs in a few subfolders … i wonder if CTM expects them on “C” and if so, where?

I have seen that message too and the suggested reinstall worked for me. The only problem I had noticed with the installation was no response from the tray icon.
In my case Windows Installer briefly stopped working during installation, so I did not think it was a CTM problem.
Uninstallation failed, too - the installer asked me to reboot first to complete an unfinished installation; i did, message remained the same. Same result when trying to right-click the MSI file in the installation folder and choosing “repair”. In the event log an error 1603 was mentioned …
… instead of fiddling around i reverted to a clean image with nothing but the OS. And experienced exactly the same behaviour (failure message when trying to run the application, uninstallation failed)?!
Hardware is:
Gigabyte GA-MA770-UD3 Rev. 2, AMD Phenom 2 X3 720 Black Edition [at]Corsair H50, 2*2 Gb Crucial Ballistix Tracer, Asus EAH 5850 [at]Scythe Setsugen, Asus Xonar DS, Super Talent Ultradrive ME, Western Digital AV-GP, Samsung SH-B083L, Liteon IHAS324, OCZ ModXStream-Pro 550W
Software is:
Plain Windows 7 Enterprise x86 and CTM RC.
???
BTW: The “Files” folder mentioned in my last post was appearently generated by any other software (very likely Office 2k10 beta), not CTM RC.
Yes. Afterwards i tried to run the application and received the message as in the screenshot. No idea why - i installed a plethora of other softwares on the same machine and everything worked like a charm. I installed CTM RC on drive “D” and not in the default location - might this be the reason / can you check this … ?
EDIT: Hmm … there was a post asking if i did a restart after installation finished, i could swear?!
CTM should be installed on your first disk.
