Comodo Registry Cleaner Wishlist V1 [CLOSED]

I would like CRC to be able to find (and delete) Windows background services leftovers. I’m not sure CRC does that today.

This is something e.g. RegSeeker does, and I’ve used it many times as some programs (including CFP!) leaves service traces after uninstalling. Even CRC itself left service traces in its earlier alpha version, where you could have it running as an application in the background (minimized to the tray). Furthermore I’ve deleted many default Windows services (from the command prompt using C:\Windows\system32\sc.exe), and by doing that, RegSeeker finds traces of those deleted services.

Thanks.

It would be nice to have description of invalid key… (why it is invalid) may be as tool-tip or another manner

build in editor and search tool…

I also vote for an included editor that is able to search, store the search results in a list and lets me delete multiple entries in the result list at once. And the search should be quicker than in regedit.
Vilma is a good registry editor but I think its development has stopped.

I would like to be able to run CRC under a limited account. Rather than be told to run CRC under an admin account, allow the user to enter an administrator password on startup.

i suggest that when CRC’s “check for updates on startup” is enabled, the notice should only pop up when there actually is an update instead of it repeating that it is up to date.

(:WIN)

  • I don’t know if it it supposed to do that already: Orphaned entries e.g. where the physical file corresponding to the registry entry is missing should be shown/marked for deletion.

  • A more extensive search feature where I search for an expression and get a result list. With that result list I want to perform operations like “backup + delete all”

change the name “unsafe entries” it makes me think of viral stuff or dangerous entries … when i read this, i want to remove them… (:SAD)

I see your point, e.g. it could be “Entries unsafe to remove” instead

+1

CRC also should be able to compact regisrty (or you can say defrag)
deleting temps, cleaning registry then compacting… perfect combination

Do you mean temp files in general or temp files generated by compacting? Because when they did have the compacter, it didn’t generate any temp files. :-TU

All Temp files; Local Settings>Temp folders files,Windows>Temp folder files,Memory Temp files etc. I mean
( .tmp ,.temp ,.nch ,.__ ,*.dmp etc )

This will be added in a future release along with many other tools.

I find that quite unnecessary. CCleaner is very good at cleaning temp files and stuff. If it was very dedicated to the registry that would be fine.

PLEASE make selectable, icons only.

It seems to be an ongoing trend to have BOTH icons and text present in programs these days.
Wich is rather useless and annoying once the user is familiar, it’s like the developers are saying, users are stupid.
Lets not forget it was never intended to be used like that.

I second this request. It’s not clear whether CRC checks for these items at all. If it does, it needs to do a better job, and if it doesn’t, this feature really should be added.

At the moment I have to use a different program for finding and deleting these entries, which is silly, because this seems to be pretty basic stuff for any registry cleaner.

Hi

Under Registry back-up (Optimize), I would like to see the hostname recorded as well. As I use many computers on our domain, this would give me the option to restore backups, if any computers were problematic after the scan.

I agree. Perhaps making the label “entries than may be unsafe to remove.” It would be nice to have a check box option…something like an “expert mode.” By default this would be un-selected, which would mean that “entries unsafe to delete” would not appear in the list of entries that can be fixed. When the expert mode is selected, then these entries would appear in the list. This may help prevent inexperienced users from dmagaing their system. Also, if you slect one of these “unsafe entries”, it would be nice to to see a pop up that says “Deleting this entry may cause irreversible damage to your operating system. Are you sure you want to delete this entry?”

  1. A dedicated registry backup button (that does not require a scan/cleaning to operate).
  2. A Restore button (that does not say “back-up” on it).
