Comodo Mobile Security (CMS) v2.0.275481.10 is now released on forum.

My cousin has an old Samsung mobile, I guess its Samsung Champ or something. Android version 2.3.6.

I have installed CMS version 2.x.x.x.10, the current CMS version is 2.x.x.x.33. I checked for product updates & health check & both mentions product up-to-date. Have they released autoupate for the latest version .33. GooglePlay mentions CMS is not compatible with his device. Can I download CMS latest from official site & install it over previous version? I am asking this coz reinstall requires antitheft to setup again. Is install over previous version fine & retains antitheft data?

You can do over-install in order to update and there is no need to set up the Anti-Theft again.

Yours upgraded automatically or you did manual upgrade?

Here CMS .10 mentions uptodate but the latest version is .33.

I’ve upgraded manually.

I think I will have to install another AV on his mobile. Coz today after app. a month I visited him & checked his mobile & database was old i.e 87 & I updated it to latest 90. No automatic update & upgrade is not good plus things are confusing. Like settings mentions autoupdate but it doesn’t autoupdate. Someone previously mentioned GUI opening is required for automatic update. They have messed CMS.

How is Avast on older mobile?

This method of “auto updating” was presented since very first version of CMS (nothing new).
I believe that in the next update Comodo will solve this problem, and will make it truly auto update.

I am doing over install. When I run apk it asks install using package or verify & install, what should I choose?

UPDATE - I chose install using package & upgraded but the version is .16 & not the latest .33. I downloaded the package form Comodo Mobile official site. I cannot use GooglePlay for the latest .33 as GooglePlay mentions not compatible with the device. Its Android version 2.3.6.

How do I get .33 version?

Hi,

Im new to CMS. I really liked your app. Its far better than other similar apps :-). I have a few doubts and suggestions.

  1. Does CMS have any web browsing protection component? Will it block dangerous websites?

  2. Can antitheft features controlled from a web console rather than via sms alone?

  3. Is CMS good in malware detection? Should I use any other AV alongside?

  4. If possible provide a quick way to access the private space (maybe a shortcut/widget icon)

  5. Scheduler must have a scheduled optimizer/cache cleaner.

  6. Even after enabling Antitheft, CMS doesnot ask us to add the upp to device administrator for more protection. I think its better to display this info in the Health Check section.

  7. Is antitheft using data from GPS alone to track location? So should I have to turn GPS ON always to work properly? Wont it drain the battery a lot?

  8. Does the remote wipe facility wipe date both from phone memory and sd card?

  9. Does remote wipe just delete the data or will it shred the data so that no one can recover it?

  10. Locate feature in the Antitheft is not at all accurate ;(, its displaying a location that is kilometers away (note that GPS was not enabled at that time, was that the issue?)

  11. Should I make the comodo’s secure dailer as the default dailer to get full protection against USSD attacks?

Anyways good job guys. New version is really awesome. Waiting to hear from you

  1. No, it doesn’t.

  2. No, it cannot. Not yet.

  3. Yes, it is. It’s not advised to use 2 AV at the same time.

  4. Good idea.

  5. Again, good idea. I would also add:

  • backup,
  • update,
  1. Probably, it will be available in the next version. However, devs don’t want to make it so visible, because users may be confused when they will attempt to uninstall CMS (many of them have no idea what they are doing - this will result in 1 star rating). Although, in my opinion, CMS should pop up with an info about this option to enable as recommended.

  2. Not only GPS, mobile network and wi-fi as well. CMS cannot enable GPS - in fact, any android app cannot do this. Having GPS enabled all the time will for sure improve efficiency of CMS remote location.

  3. Yes.

  4. It deleted them only, not overwrite.

  5. Unfortunately, I have to agree. We hope it will be improved soon.

  6. Yes, make it a default one. However, only certain samsung phones are affected.

Thank you very much for the response

  1. Are you planning to having a web browsing protection in the near future?

7.If I turn ON GPS, does that mean its always active? Or will it get active only when any app try to use GPS?
What I wanted to know is that does that going to drain the battery a lot?
Do you advice to turn GPS ON always?

Also there is an issue in the app lock:

  1. I had locked ‘Messaging’.
  2. Now when ever I try to access messages password is prompted.
  3. Now reboot the phone.
  4. Now try to access the message, we can see that we are able to read the message for around 10 seconds. Comodo will ask for password only after around 10 seconds.

Suggestion for app lock:

It will be better to have PIN as password.
At present if we had added a number as password, there will be a delay to type the number. If PIN is available, we are able to do this so quickly (just like the app ‘App Lock’ in the Google play)

Every time I do an update it says that updates are available, even just a few seconds from the last update. Sometimes there is an error communicating with the server. Is this issue being addressed?

7.If I turn ON GPS, does that mean its always active? Or will it get active only when any app try to use GPS?

Exactly right. It will be only active if you see little antenna icon in the status bar.

I still have this problem. Is says updates and the virus database is still version 90. A few minutes after an update I try again and it says updates are available and downloads them. Still version 90. ???

Same prob here.

I have CMS version .16 (last 2 numbers). Latest is .33.

What version you have?

I have .33

Since no one has given an answer to this update problem I have uninstalled CMS and gone with Avast. At least I can get regular updates with it and their techs actually answer me on a timely basis, unlike Comodo.

Amen!

The same issue here with virus database updates…still on version 90.

My virus definition database says version 90, no updates available, on current/latest version.
Why, is yours saying update available?

Before I uninstalled CMS it kept telling me that updates were available, even just minutes after updating with no actual updates occurring. It’s out of date and can’t be trusted by me.
