Comodo Internet Security v11.0.0.6704 - RC

Comoros built in task manager will also show if it is doing any of its own tasks eg scans or updates.

I didn’t see I had to to use beta servers to get the right updates when I went into this topic, I guess this is what bazolo was referring to by saying :

Thanks bazolo, anyways ! Sorry for this late answer…

Hi, it’s the same issue I had when I’ve made this thread :
https://forums.comodo.com/antivirus-help-cis/comodo-antivirus-11-tasks-manager-shows-high-cpu-usage-frpm-time-to-time-t122688.0.html

And the screen referring to this issue is there :
https://www.noelshack.com/2018-36-5-1536324623-highcpuusage.png

I had this problem with another version of CiS, and I still have it with this beta version

I looked at the topic but the image hosting website kept on giving error 503 so I couldn’t what was happening. When the AV is scanning it simply takes up a lot of resources. It’s how it works. I would suggest to not let it run a scheduled scan but run a scan at a moment that works best for you. F.e. when you are leaving the house for a couple of hours.

When the scheduled scan is running you can stop it using CIS Task Manager.

At PremJK and Shane.

I got a report that the bug where cmdagent.exe starts using a full processor gets triggered when a router or ISP is not responding. It may help to trigger the bug when testing:

Hmm I wonder if it is a similar issue that CCAV had with no internet connection.

Good question.

Hi EricJH and Futuretech,

Thank you so much. We will share this additional info to our developers. This information may be very useful for us.

Kind Regards,
PremJK

When to wait for the release of RC2?

Hi Megaherz33,

We are working on the fix build which you can expect hopefully this week.
Thanks for your understanding.

Kind Regards,
PremJK

Hi EricJH,
Here is the screen (re)uploaded :

Sorry for this late answer.

Btw, I tried to set up some new settings in my Scan options, thanks to PremJK, and so far, it seems to run better since I’ve unchecked “Quick Scan”.
I’ll remain cautious to see if this “bug” is still occurring later, but for the moment I’m kinda happy. This “bug” (Idk which word could be applied here) appeared almost once a day until now.

Late EDIT :
You said when AV is scanning is takes up a lot of ressources but is it normal to see a cpu running at 100% and his temp going from 30°C to 50°C in the meanwhile ? That was my biggest concern about that, acutally :frowning:

I see cavwp.exe vary up to 50% and incidentally to 70% while doing a scan. I have a quad core AMD Phenom II processor. Did PremJK say about the CPU usage when running a scan?

About the temperature of the CPU. CPU’s can handle temps up to 100C. When running one at that temp will reduce life span from 15 to approx 14 years. So there is nothing to worry about if the CPU gets 50C. The vulnerable part of a computer with regards to temps is a mechanical hard drive. They should not be warmer than 55 C internally. You can check the hd temp with Speedfan for example.

Edit. Thank you for the image upload. Again it gave a 503 error and reloaded the page. That website is quirky. I then left the tab alone and later I saw it had loaded. I see you have an Intel i5. My sense of computing says scanning should not almost max out a CPU like the i5. Hence Why I am curious to what PremJK may have said about the CPU usage.

On a side note. When checking performanc with Task Manager please check the Details tab. That’s where you will see the actual name of the executables instead of the product name.

I tried on Win 7 SP1 x64 but it didn’t help. I tested on 6704 RC (not this version).

I looked at the logs and found incoming traffic from 0.0.0.0. at port 68 to 255.255.255.255 Port 67. I made a Global Rule and a rule for svchost.exe accordingly. Please notice that the direction is different.

Now it doesn’t show in the logs anymore but unfortunately it doesn’t stop cmdagent.exe from starting to use a full processor core again. I tested with 6704 RC.

just had an update to 11.0.0.6710 but no changelog

All is well, but a diagnostic error and when updating the recognizers and the program. CIS 11.0.0.6710

Update to: 11.0.0.6710

Reboot after install - and only one instance of cmdagent.exe now, but all running well with no errors. Security Centre integration is fine

No problems with Virtual Desktop or KillSwitch (installed through test server) after reboot(s) and cold start. Looking good :-TU

Could you put a screenshot of the errors with the UI set to English and attach the Diagnostics report?

How ? I see no update for me in this RC i run (6704) …

Win 10 1803 (17134.319) x64

As long as you have enabled beta servers in proxy and host settings inside CIS or changed your hosts file, you should get it unless they pulled it. Also the link to the offline installer in the first post should also point to the new version, file size is 69.8MB with a sha1 of 5BE491C38747077998E9539E4BB1FDE3103D2F56

It looks like they no longer enabled the protected cmdagent service, but security center integration should still work correctly.
