yes the default autosandbox runs files as fully virtualized now instead of partially limited
OK. Do we get notification when files are run virtual? Coz I tried clt.exe from testmypcsecurity. It was sandboxed but no notification & no green border. Default CIS settings.
I guess installers default also changed from partial to virtual, right?
i.e when we try to install unknown program & get a popup with options run isolated, run unlimited, etc… I guess now run isolated option on the popup means virtual & not partial, right?
Great job guys, this release is looking rather good! Been running it in a VM as well just to test stability and usability, as i am aware of the virtual machine issue with CIS and malware. Have to say, installation/set up has greatly improved, very smooth… :-TU
Am I the only one where several attempts to clean install consistently result in “Fatal Error 1603”, followed by a very inappropriate Congratulations-screen?
I’m back to version 7.0.317799.4142.
It’s Beta or Retail Free Version ??
Link Download Comodo Internet Security is Version 7.
???
Smooth install…impressive so far…light. Thanks

I installed Anti-Virus only (cav_installer). Firewall driver was installed, which gave me various problems with my networking programs. I had to manually remove the driver (inspect.sys).
comodo made things worse with the new version 8. Unlike version 7 if you use sandboxed browser and download anything, version 8 does not allow to move the file out of sandbox and will not allow access to it outside VR or sandbox. This is a BAD MOVE.
in version 7 I could go to C drive and then Virtual sandbox comodo folder and to download and move any files out of it to desktop or atleast see it. Now in version 8 I see no way to access any files inside sandbox from outside of sandbox unless adding the download folder or the folder where download go to the ‘do not virtualize access to’. Then i will be able to access the download and move it around outside sandbox VR. But this means that that folder is not protected anymore unlike version 7 and emptying the sandbox will not delete the content once the folder is excluded.
So i think comodo should bring back the old version 7 style access back.

The structure of the sandbox folder has not changed at all from v7. You can use the shared space to move files to the real machine or navigate to c:\VTRoot. Please note the vtroot folder isn’t present until something is run inside the sandbox or you run vk
After removing and reinstalling CAV, the firewall driver was not installed again. With CIS 8 beta, the driver was installed, even though I didn’t want the firewall, which I removed. I thoroughly search my files and registry for remains of the beta, so I have no explanation as to how the driver got installed.

thanks for the release
Since this is a public release of CIS 8.0, it is not beta.
I was able to download the previous CIS version 7.0.317799.4142 from:
http://cdn.download.comodo.com/cis/download/installs/3000/standalone/cispremium_installer.exe
Links for 32 and 64 bit only installation files for CIS 7 are also working but I have yet to learn of equivalent links for the new CIS 8.
I see that the driver is installed in the Windows folder, but with the second installation, they are not being used.
Hi
I’m a member of COMODO.
Are you using the 8.0.0.4337 version?
You opened a word file in sandbox while enhanced protected mode was enabled. And then computer freeze
Could you please tell me what version of microsoft office you are using?
If you disable Hips, the enhanced protected mode does not work. But the auto-sandbox function still works, and it will auto-sandbox the unrecognized programs.
well I did a test and downloaded a bunch of softwares and no VTroot folder existed at all. In the sandbox VR the download folder under “adminVT” had the downloaded files, but when tried to access them from outside the sandbox, from the pc and going to the “adminVT” in c, the download folder was EMPTY. I did test this many times and the same. in V. 7 the VTroot would show up in C and I could get to my files and drag them out or copy paste. Now in v. 8 the download folder in c/user/adminVT is not accessible outside the sandbox and the files can not be dragged out or copy pasted from the sandbox to the outside.
With version 8 I see no VTroot anymore. Maybe because CIS 8 is using my pc’s intelVR??
Anyway I always like CIS for its sandboxing browser use, and now with this change, I am discouraged and gave up on CIS.
p.s. i forgot to take snapshots and post here to show. Also I tested CIS 8 in VM windows 7 ultimate 64bit.
