Is anyone using windows 7 home x64 combined with Avast and installing this getting any blue screens? Using a dell laptop xps L502x but dont think that would make a difference.
Has anyone else had constant 25-30% cpu usage on cmdagent.exe after updating to / installing 6.3.301250.2972?
I have personally not seen this behavior.
@ herolegend, try uninstalling your least favorite solution, that is, have only one security program, and see if that helps. I’d try uninstalling both first, one at a time, doing the necessary reboots, verifying that the problem is gone, then going for one security app only and seeing how stability goes. If you choose CIS and still have problems, you can create a bug report to have this investigated.
@killer89, me neither. Do you also have a second security solution installed? Or anything that interferes with the system like memory or process management tools etc?
Not here on any of the 3 machines we have.
Well I didn’t update, I just returned to CIS today, and so far I didn’t experienced such behavior. You should do a clean install(after you uninstalled the current version) this should do the trick.
So your saying now that there is a problem with comodo and avast together when I’ve been using both for years with no problems? Why don’t comodo just join with Avast and become Avodo the ultimate scanner protection etc… in the world and be fracking done with it?
No, you completely misunderstand me. I’m just investigating if that could be the cause. Anyway, good luck.
You know what else would be superb, Melih? Intelligent updates. You don’t need it, you don’t get it. I mean – especially with the known quantity of problems in program updates – would’t it be easier to, for example, issue a Win8-specific update to Win8 machines only?
Well yes but this require some extra code line, a small additions to your idea will be an “whats new” directly in New program updates message, so you will know if to update or not.
Nope, “what’s new” is already present, being in-program would solve nothing. I mean the program should know whether the update is necessary for a specific system or not. The idea is not to show that an update is available unless it’s a recommended/needed update.
Yes I get that, but so far from all the security programs I’ve tested, never seen this, so I don’t think something will change in near future.
excellent work!
don’t like this update because privdog become an obligation.
If i uncheck all crosses the button for accept is unactive.
I clic cancel and it’s ok but for common users, many don’t won’t to install privdog.
that is not correct.
you can opt out of it and continue with your update.
Should be made more obvious, I’m sure you’ve seen the other comments on the forum about this.
Oh come on Melih, are you serious? You’re defending this practice?
Plain and simple, during install you had the option to install PrivDog and change your home page to Yahoo. If you installed a previous version without this option, the interested user may see the new products via the message center for example. The way this update is designed it makes users think they can’t update CIS/AV/FW without installing either PrivDog or Yahoo.
There is an inconsistency in the behavior of the installation of the PrivDog between the updater vs a fresh install. In a fresh install you can uncheck the PrivDog installer and click “Agree and Install” to install w/o PrivDog. “Cancel” will cancel the install. In the updater “Cancel” on the PrivDog install screen cancels only the PrivDog install. Now, I’ve disagreed with the level of drama over the issue, but I do think it’s an issue that should be addressed. I think that the way the fresh install handles it is much more clear and is preferable, but if they must be different, a simple “Decline” button in the updater would clear things up.
Or a simple explanation. If the update window that pops up with PrivDog/Yahoo had a description saying something like “While you’re updating, why not try these new products? If you do not wish to install them at this moment, simply click Cancel and the program update will finish.”
agreed.
