COMODO Internet Security 4.0.132838.716 RC Released [CLOSED]

If you have many installed applications that are not in Comodo’s safelist, or signed by a trusted vendor (there are 308 trusted vendors in 4.0 RC), you can switch to Clean PC Mode, if you know your system is clean.

Downloaded the latest version. Online installer is OK but needs more work.

  1. Live PC support should be optional
  2. Downloading the database should be optional

I like that you can download without installing, this way you can copy the install files and apply to multiple computers.

Cheers

Until they fix the small installer:

One thing I forgot to mention when I ran the program updater it said there was an update but there also was a message that it was withdrawn (or word of that kind) however I could proceed to download and install 719. Did anybody see that message as well?

Why does “Windows Operating System” constantly get blocked by cis4’s firewall regardless as to whether I set it as a trusted app etc

WOS is not a real process; it is a pseudo process like system idle process in Windows Task Manager. When the logs say it was received by WOS there was no program listening for the incoming information.

When will the full release version be released?..Early March or late March?

Release of the final version was prematurely announced as February. Actual release date is unknown.

Hopefully they will wait until the app is stable and most of the bugs reported in the testing have been addressed.

Better late and than on time but unready.

Hi Guys. Just a personal test here. 15 various malware/Trojans/ Rogues today Tested on Cis 4.719.I went onto Malware domain list and tested 15 brand new nasties 21/02/2010 and the Av in real time achieved 100%!.My confidence Grows daily. When The sandbox issues are sorted to make things clearer as to whats going on with applications ect, then i will be a happier camper than i am already.

Yes, the AV is stronger than ever before.:)) :-TU

Nice! The AV catch them, or D+?

Comodo Installer save my issue before – Windows MSI Error issue.

And now I have install CIS V4 RC on my PC. Thanks Comodo Team.

This build works well for me on Win7 x64. O0

After reading all of these posts I was starting to wonder if I am doing something wrong?? :o

Workstation - Installed CIS v. 719 on Windows XP 64-bit
Laptop - Installed CIS v. 719 on Windows 7 Ultimpate 32-bit

NO ISSUES with either install. I used the unofficial download installers after uninstalling the previous non-beta CIS setup on both computers. This has been several days now and all is well. Feels like a RC to me anyway! Great job!!!

actually was gonna post something very similar to the just above post ;D I read so much horror during the last few weeks  Finally decided to give CIS 4 RC a shot (using the web downloader), got the 719 version, everything’s up and running ??? why ???

edit: just wanted to add that “live support” got installed without my consent, didn’t see the option during the download or setup phase >>>> removed

Using an Online Installer is my nightmare, most of the times my Download speed are extremely SLOW. This is the case for this installer, i have 130 Mb to Download, i have NO IDEA what speed it goes, but this is taking Huge times… usually when i download application, i use a mass downloader, that help a lots, i don’t know what’s going on.

Maybe routing traffic troubles between my ISP and yours whatever, i don’t have many choice to pick ISP and actually i got the best in my Town.

Please, i need an Offline installer for quick installation.

There wasn’t an option. In the future, choose to “not install after downloading” and then you can run the installers separately. Just note where you save the downloaded installer files. You can choose the download location when you run the small installer.

I know, I deleted the “live support” installer after that (found in default download location >>> program data in Seven). I just didn’t expect the “live pc support” to be downloaded at all, as there was no mention of it in the first set of options for the download phase, and I think this should be corrected. Now of course the best option when you know that is to dismiss the auto-install after download.

With all the cribbing and crying (me included) about the sandbox let me say a few good things:

  1. Learn Behaviour of Safe Applications - This is really good. This makes it 0 popups for a clean and safe system.

  2. More responsive GUI - Maybe its me, but v4 is very fast as compared to v3. this is really great.

  3. Parental control bug gone = good stuff.

  4. network policy now as 3 tabs = This right here is how CIS should be moving. A better organized and more compact app. thanks.

  5. D+ more organized = see above.

  6. Thankfully cis works great without sandbox = ;D

  7. more trusted vendors = can’t be a bad thing, now can it.

A lot of improvements for those using without the sandbox. Great.
