AV didn’t detect Eicar while it was being updated.
It would be very bad if the AV gets disabled when updating.

Still this in RC2.

- Windows XP x64 with Service Pack 2 and all updates installed to date
- Spybot Search & Destroy
- Installed the latest version (3.9 RC2) with a clean install (default settings, except the toolbar and system scan), and after the restart, when i was trying to make any online activity, one of the svchost processes started to use 50% of CPU resources. I couldn’t even log in properly in Live Messenger (it completly freezed when it tried to display my contacts status). And after a short time, the system became total unusable (althrough svchost never consumed more then 50% of my CPU), i had to make a hard reset. After the restart the same thing happened. I wasn’t even able to download a previous CIS version while RC2 was installed. Also, the system sounds where played with long delays, and i couldn’t detach safely my pendrive neither.
- I tried to reinstall RC2 again, but there was no change.
-
- I didn’t make any screenshots, because i think it is not necessary.
- 3.9 RC1 worked great for me 2 days long without any noticeable flaws (at least i didn’t find any), and because it’s not anymore available here (haven’t looked for it elsewhere), i had to reinstall the latest stable version ( 3.8 ) of CIS, which works fine also, just like before.
Is that from a clean install ? I don’t have this issue with RC2 clean install no auto update?!
Still getting no “Threatcast” ratings, looks like it does a DNS lookup but goes no further.Ive never been able to do the online lookup either so maybe its summat out of my control.
Anyone UK based using openDNS behind a router able to receive threatcast ratings?
Clean install after Revo–>XP sp3
[at] Ronny.
I forget me…
Yes, it’s a clean install.
After a first reboot after complete install all was OK. After a second restart that was what happen. I’ve try to reboot the comp a couple of times but no luck, no change.
I saw, wherever that was, that Kail (I think it was him) had the same problem on 3.9-489 (I think it was 489).
EDIT:
No imported rules or such.
Operating system: Windows Vista X64 SP2
CIS version: 3.9.75615.498
Other security software: None
Firewall security level: Safe Mode
Defense+ security level: Safe Mode
Antivirus settings: Stateful
Halite running at full speed (1MB/s download, 100KB/s upload) and everything is fine with my P5Q-E on-board NIC.
Mine looks OK in RC2.

I solved this issue by completely uninstalling CIS RC2 again. Before doing another clean install, I ran Comodo Registry Cleaner and checked to see what CIS entries it found. It only found one CIS entry, which the CRC cleaning removed. After registry cleaning with CRC, I checked the usual places in files and folders for CIS entries. I found several on a Vista Ultimate machine in AppData\Local\Virtual Store\Program Files\Comodo and deleted them all. I may have found some in C:\Program Files also, but I can’t remember for sure. If I did, I deleted them also. Then I checked the registry manually for CIS entries and deleted all of them that I could delete. I was prevented from deleting some of them. Then I did the clean install of CIS RC2 and after completion, CIS showed to have outbound traffic, but still no inbound traffic. Also the CIS shield icon in the system tray is showing firewall activity again. This solved my CIS Network Defense outbound connections problem, but inbound connections is still showing 0 connections. I did not isolate whether this outbound connections problem was solved by removing CIS file and folder entries or CIS registry entries, or both.
[at] Ronny again
I quote my self:
After a little search I found it (it was 494):
https://forums.comodo.com/beta_corner_cis/comodo_internet_security_3974913496_rc1_bug_reports_locked-t37636.0.html;msg273656#msg273656
and read downwards.
EDIT:
And a funny thing, the raw numbers changes from time to time when I open Network Zones. It seems that the reading of them are out in the wild ![]()
I thought there was a fix but can’t find it.
Comodo system tray icon doesn’t show up. System is running just icon not there.
Testing in 2 different systems.
This one has the following:
XP Pro sp3
running the following:
hostman
NOD32, old version
Vipre trial
Super Antispyware trial
Only difference is the 2 other trial versions in this machine.
Everything else looks and seems to be working.
Did update from .496 last night just fine to .498, problem is still here.
Thanks
As reported in RC1 bugs:
I can confirm that the same problem still occurs in RC2.
I didn’t really expect it to be fixed because I only rpeorted it the day before RC2 was released - just keeping you informed.
As reported in Antivirus bugs for version 3.8…477:
I can confirm that this bug still occurs in all the 3.9s including the latest RC2.
Just keeping this bug report alive.
Ok my Bug Reports

I’ve still got the firewall issue. If I try to block one website domain eg. torrentreactor.net through My Blocked Network Zones then CIS will block some other random websites as well.
Test scenario:
-
Open these websites in your web browser:
http://www.torrentreactor.net
http://www.gadu-gadu.pl
http://www.newtorrents.info -
Block torrentreactor.net by adding it to My Blocked Network Zones → Add → A New Blocked Address → A host name. Apply all changes in all windows.
-
Go back to web browser and reload (bypassing cache) the above websites.
All will be blocked although only torrentreactor.net should be blocked. -
Go to My Blocked Network Zones and remove torrentreactor.net.
-
Open HOSTS file with prefered text editor (path to this file on Win XP is %windir%\system32\drivers\etc ) and add the line at the end of the file:
127.0.0.1 www.torrentreactor.net
- Go back to web browser and reload (bypassing cache) the above websites.
Only torrentreactor.net will be blocked as expected.
Note: It does not matter if I add www.torrentreactor.net or torrentreactor.net in My Blocked Network Zones in CIS.

My Network Zones and erranous data (RAW-data).
Forget it, just forget it, only forget it!
It’s my fault, I want to use english but in 24-hrs format, therefore I’ve changed template for english in 3.9-RC1 and lazy as I am I’ve used it in 3.9-RC2. It didn’t work so good ![]()
But now everything is OK.
I’ve to shame :a0
I would like to thank our moderator Bad_Frogger for cooperating with me using EasyVPN. With his help, we have identified the bug in CIS that could lead to a not-functioning firewall in Windows XP 64.
Egemen
Yes. We fixed a potential issue that can cause this. Final release will hopefully not have this.
It has been fixed. This must be releated to something else. We have tested aggresively and verfied.
However if you are not sure whether or not CIS is causing this, please PM me your MSN or EasyVPN ID so that we can have a chat and go over together.
Thanks,
Egemen
