I agree too. I am quite disappointed of the turn Comodo chose to make. This 6.0 version is clearly a gas factory with dozens of stuff the normal user do not need. I am only using the firewall with no defense+ because this is what I am expecting from a firewall, the rest is clearly useless.
That’s a shame everyone chooses to go to the 12 in 1 solution because the product looses some quality.
I must be missing something here ?
D +, Virtualization and the AV clearly useless ?
I was under the impression that they complement each other in a layered approach to security.
Now if you where talking about password managers, backing up features, parental control etc I would understand.
What I was trying to say as far as the interface goes. All the traffic information means little if anything to the average user. But means something to the computer geeks. I still want a all in one security suite but for the simple average computer user have as much as possible be automated with only a few things to check or adjust. But for the more computer understanding person have all the tweaking and information they think they need. That way the simple day to day user is safe. They have a install and leave it approach where as the geek version is full of information with all the tweaks they want that the average user don’t understand or don’t want to have to learn. Just to be on the internet and do simple banking with security. They should not need to take a computer course just to understand the interface of there security suite. And all it’s tweaks.
:THNK Useless , interface not so nice looking like Naomi Cambel ;D
Whats more :-La
Comodo ,especialy CIS6 after instalation and the setting provided is a 10 of 10 score for anyone who have 0.0 knowlege about IT and security system available on the market now.
There is no question at all.
You do need to download the full pack. CIS6.0 you have a choise
Firewall - antivirus
Even the full CIS6 as a pack is liite on computer resourses taking away.
CIS6.0 about 10MB for free - Kaspersky about 150 MB one year licence for £ 27 in the UK.
Comodo - malware library about 140.000 in use
Kaspersky -malware library about 40.000 in use
Only Bitdefender and Norman security have such a big library can be compared to Comodo ,the use on daily basis.
Soo good Morning everybody -welcome in the security world.
I don’t understand this so called low usage my system has full install of CIS 6 without hips being turn on and we are talking 38 to 45 megs of ram used. And that is a clean install on a new reformated hard drive.
I guess thats coz Kaspersky now has optimized local antivirus databases & full databases in the cloud.
Do you think Comodo should also have optimized local antivirus databases & full databases in the cloud?
I think Comodo should.
No I don’t want Comodo knowing what I have on my computer. I have anything to do with the cloud turn off. I want my data base on my computer not the internet.
Fanny should know
May be an option to use optimized or full local databases, wot say?
Optimized being default.
So you want COMODO to upload everything on your computer to check it with it’s data base and what about people who internet connection is down should they be able to run a scan. If they have a virus keeping there internet connection from working how will they know if the only scan they can use needs the internet to work.
Do you think Comodo should also have optimized local antivirus databases & full databases in the cloud?
I think Comodo should.
No naren
I dont think soo.
Malware, viruses etc. are developed on not only daily basis , in the moment Im sure some >:-D are writing someting to catch you credit card or sniff on you e-mail.
There is no sense to publish someting whats is know - just make public happy. The sense of good security is to work in the shadow & be efective .
And that the point Comodo developed the best sandox on the market ,witch is price even from the people from diferent company . Basic set - up of CIS6 and every unrecognised file etc is sent to sandbox waiting for action - Melih drinking big cup of coffee with a hammer in the hand is checking how hard the are ;D -
You want to have big brother know everything you do with your computer that is fine for you but not me. Plus as I said if you get a virus that is keeping you from connecting to the internet then how can you find it if you need the internet to do the scan in the first place.
Yes it can be diferent ,because is depending waths the CIS6 is doing in that particular momment you checked the usage.
But anywerhe compare the 40 MB to 150 MB of Kaspersky .
Im writing now on a Toshiba laptop with a small processor AMD E2 450 .
only pops up are remaining me on that fact that a have a security systmen on board. :■■■■
And can concentrate me on my work.
On my system it takes 12-14 mb with the full package
I see no need for a geeks and non-geeks version. The current UI is pretty friendly for the non geek but falls short for the advanced users. Getting buttons to the task bar of the UI helps to a certain extend.
I think making the separation in the UI makes more sense than to release two versions. They both need testing etc.
Comodo made a new starting point with v6 with new UI and sandbox and virtual kiosk goodies. It is now up to Comodo to further develop the new path. And Comodo will as it did in the past when starting wiht sandbox and automatic sandbox in v4; that path got developed all the way down to v5.x. Now it is time for a new path.
In the future I think we can expect adaptations for the UI, Behaviour Blocker, Sandbox and likely Virtual Kiosk.
Stay tuned for an interesting new path of development. 8)
I dont like how you have to change columns’ widths every now and then to see something.
:-\
Sorry, but LOL to those who demand two versions like this:
“One super automatic protection tool for free.
And one version where you have to press buttons which costs money.”
On the other hand you are complaining that a lot of stuff was added.
Isnt that funny?
All this stuff has been added to support people who dont want to press buttons and to understand.
A geek (“rich”? ehm) would be safe with a few buttons and a usefull summary instead! While you are expecting “programmed automatism” and userfriendlyness.
So, which version should be the paid one?
I guess, you are twisting the estimation about “how difficult all this is” like you twist the principles in your theory.
Let me tell you, its ■■■■ easy to understand it.
If a kid would allready think pessimistic like that about learning, humans would be stupid for life.
But kids are smiling when they see something new. And they learn.
They are smart. And sometimes they are geeks
clockwork ;D
They are smart. And sometimes they are geeks
HA ha ha ha - sometimes
A kid & a laptop = nothng to hide & the are always happy to show you where is what . Even if you are a IT Geek.
It has always been Melih’s vision to bring free security to all (including companies and non profit organisations) so I don’t expect Comodo to bring a paid version with more bells and whistles and functionality and a free version which has less (the Outpost model).
From some posts above, I see that ppl are using softwares without trying to learn or understand them. They are dreaming of security, 100% security even, without interaction from the user.
Now I understand why Google has the Google car project. ;D No more need to know what the steering wheel and pedals are for and to understand the dash board; hey learning the traffic code won’t even be useful.
