Comodo Firewall Wishlist v5[Closed]

Unless Something has Changed CFP3 does not use MD5. It uses digital application signing and also monitors the protected files for changes while it is active.

Nope. CFP does not keep any checksums. It simply watches all the file system activity and record the changes.

By default, every application who has a firewall rule or used in a defense+ rule(as long as it is a full path) are protected by default although they are not listed in my protected files.

Egemen

per-app/global traffic speed limiter could be nice, this would be very cool.

Then I shall add MD5 to my wishlist aswell.

The problem with this is MD5 and most other checksums will not detect an ADS added to a file however MD5 and file modify date might. I say might because it is easy to modfy file Modify date.

It’s still better than nothing.

how about the firewall search for all the programs you have then You decide to allow or deny?

firstly it seems to me that it doesnt listen to what you tell it to lol (:TNG)
like say i want to play a game i allow it fully “give it full access & skip parent & invisable connections”
but it doesnt give it acess whats the go with that it showes in the log that the aplication was denied but i gave it full access (:AGY) (:SAD)

then secondly being able to respond to logs “like ZA” where if a aplication does get denied instead of having to make a new rule just being able to select and right click on the particular log and chose Allow or block (:WIN) (:KWL)

i really do like cpfw but disabling a firewall recently is no go as imn getting DDos & dcom exploits its crazzy the amount of hacker activity ive had recently its lucky cpfw is just so good at its job but in my case sometime a lil too good (:KWL)

Just a small wish for Comodo v3: support for Windows visual styles.

I dont particularly like the custom gui/theme.

Something like game mode in zonealarm, so that games don’t get minimised/crashed/hanged when the firewall tries to ask for permission while fullscreen game is running

This is my first post (:WAV)…happy to be a part of this community! Ok, I’m getting to mellow

First of all, I would like to extend my gratitude to Comodo for supplying us with such a great product for FREE and considers coments from end-users to further improve their product.

I’m a previous Sygate user & I thought it was time for a change…a couple of weeks ago. So, I went on the web doing my research (knowing I’m a big advocate for free software) I stumble upon your Firewall.

I was doubtfull at first but then I saw all the positive reviews…and I thought to myself - Too good to be true…and then I downloaded the software and I haven’t looked back.

Yes, software entitles changes and updates and is never perfect but you guys are definetely under the right path.

Here are my simple suggestions:

»easy-to-understand pop-up alerts
»pre-configure settings prior to installation
»uninstaller to ensure all is fully removed is users are not content (at the present moment many users have complain about this feature lacking) (You can use a free registry cleaner such as to ensure all files have been removed. Yes…is free and is as good as the commercial one’s http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/utilities/processexplorer.mspx
»View all files open(At the present moment I have Process Explorer running…if we had something included from within the same firewall it would be greathttp://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/utilities/processexplorer.mspx
*Ability to have the option of detecting a intrusion and tracing such as Snort http://www.snort.org/
I will be testing my ports & addtionals by using Nmap: the Network Mapper - Free Security Scanner

Cheers!

Hi & welcome Antonio.

This already exist in the new version 3.0! Have you seen it, perhaps you are using 2.4?

Also, I think the pop-up alerts are a bit better in v 3.0.

hi
today i updated to v3
looks nice =)

but i miss a thing like hostman
http://www.abelhadigital.com/2007/06/hostsman-3040-released.html

where i can update custom blocklists automaticaly over web
and replace the blocked webContent with some else
and where i can manage and filter imported blocklists

and maybe you can integrate something like http://www.yproxy.com/ as a plugin or what ever

and maybe a traffic viewer like such a packet sniffer to see what is inside the packets

your new firewall looks a bit strange … everything is new and somehow all is otherwise … but looks grat and runs very fast … i think its faster then before  … great work … keep on

thank you

Comodo would be perfect if on Firewall Alert it had a button similar to Kerio’s Advanced Filter Rule.
(see http://www.ida.liu.se/~iislab/projects/firewall-comparison/Kerio/Kerio-CerberusIncomingAlert.gif)

Basically it would allow to immediately create a custom rule from an alert pop-up, instead of going thourgh Firewall Tasks > Advanced > Network Security Policy.

For now i’m getting back to KPF, but this addition would finally make me switch

I don’t know if this already is feasible or has been asked,
but when you switch Defense+ to installation mode,
it should stay to that setting, and not automatically going back to the previous mode after some minutes.

It’s annoying when you install e.g. Adobe CS3 and then the installation stops just because of that.
But maybe this is just an option I haven’t seen yet!

Agreed, and the dialogue should be set to “Always on top”.

Ewen

Better logging in V3 (more detail) a whiois on right click too, Get rid of one of the screens, two are not needed.

Make right click work everywhere

Access the logs and/or external log viewer for the system tray menu

Good idea, that way when you come back you can’t forget to put it back to “previous mode”.
Better than prompting every five minutes or so, in my humble opinion.

hi again

uhh… this neww look is really confusing to me … i dont find this nice place where i can edit rules in the list like in the older version
also i dont find this log thing with the list where i was ablew to see red yellow and green events
and also this new+thing is crazy … allways poping up some information about some actions … how can i tell this +thing that i trust to some apps … i would like to press accept and then i never see this learning popup again
also this popup is poping up over the firewall question popup … so if i wanna allow or disallow some connections in the firewall popup i maybe cant because 100 +thing popups are over the firewall popup

oooops and just right now i see a popup you found a bug in comodo firewall … that looks bad :frowning:
i send it to you

AV was scanning in background and found inactive vir or troj and then the sound from AV was comming and then comodo poped up that i found a bug … but the vir is 100% inactive … maybe because the www.free-av-com guard was bussy in the same thing as comodo +thingD

to me as a fan of this comodo firewall, this new look, looks strange
but as a optimist i hope i will get into it

and the most important whish i have is that you will update frequently … when i had comodo firewall 2.XY there was a long thime without update … i was afright that you people maybe are gone to hollydays :)) … maybe you can upload only some rules or what ever from time to time … so people see that comodo isa allive and fresh

OK… have a nice time … thanks for all this cool stuff

I am locking this thread as a new Wishlist thread has been started.

thanks,

jasper
